Easy as 1, 2, R! Fixing my transmission issues, reverse lockout plate, short throw adjustments.

- The NC Miata has been having shifting issues with 1st, 2nd, and reverse gears. That turned out to be the reverse lockout plate, which I show you how to replace. While I had it apart, I also added a spacer to alleviate the shifting stiffness. I'll show you how it's all done in this quick fix!

Israel here! Hi there! Many people, including me have the bad habit of 'riding' the edge of the lockout plate when shifting from 1st to 2nd and possibly from 4 to 5th and then to 6th in some cases, that's what makes the plate to wear off
What do you mean riding it?
I had the same issue with 1,2,R and put the stock shifter back on my NC3.

Nice video, but I was hoping you were going to address the notchiness I'm having (NC.2 6MT) shifting from 2nd to 3rd.
Any updates on whether this fixed the issue? My clutch master and slave look good and replaced the brake fluid. Hard to shift when cold in 1 or 2nd before and after.
The reverse lockout plate essentially solved my issues I was describing, yep!
I am having issues with mine going into 2nd gear when it's cold.... Once the transmission warms up it seems to work fine. I have about 103k on mine so I am half tempted to try this just to see what it does.
Yeah me too actually. Actually got stuck at a signal couple weeks ago cause it took a while to get into first as well.
Have you tried a fluid change?
They're known for it, especially in cold weather. New gearbox oil tends to help - depending where you live there are different products recommended
