In some configurations a lot of the difference is in the pistons and head. I've built stroker gas engines that used the crankshaft from the diesel model.

Flex seal and JB weld around the edges, apply liberal amounts of lock tight to all the bolts and torque until bolts start to strip. Good as new

That's not how you go from diesel to gas you put spark plugs where the injectors are and you put a carburetor on it 4 throttle body injection system
