Liverpool have responded with strength and determination as they fight back against the VAR injustice at the weekend against Tottenham. Mark Goldbridge reacts to the latest football news
As a Liverpool fan, I have massive respect for someone like Mark who puts aside the rivalry between clubs to speak the truth and strives for the game to be fair. That's the true spirit of sportsmanship.
What integrity is there in the game when the PGMOL allows Darren England to be "working" in the UAE two days before he is to man the VAR for UAE owned Man City's biggest rivals for this year's title? How much did he get paid for this "work" and who exactly paid him? These questions need to be answered.
Our game is over but the reality is that if Liverpool demand an external investigation (my view of the statement is that is justifiably suggesting this is not plausible “human error”- to claim the entire VAR team can’t actually see what happens on the pitch, somehow believing they’d confirmed the goal etc!)- it is to the benefit of the entire league. All the other leagues in Europe have had corruption scandals and investigations, we now have our refs working in the UAE days before these fixtures. That may mean nothing; but frankly, with the insanity of these decisions it needs to be investigated. It may be that their just privately corrupted, as in the betting & fixing scandals we see with players & other leagues & sports globally. That aside, even IF our officials are clean, that would mean that they are insanely incompetent it would warrant serious consequences, but to be honest their explanation is so utterly mad it’s Epstein-esque. Whatever the outcome, the PGMOL should be made to suffer and be forced to seriously improve their standards. The whole lot of them aren’t fit for purpose.
As a Liverpool fans is good to hear other clubs are behind this as the statement is not just for Liverpool fc its for the league its been going on too long now teams week in week out getting robbed with no accountability
That’s because anytime anybody complains against the PGMOL they get a warning and a fine from the FA, the FA is the reason football sometimes feels like a joke, those incompetent fools.
This Liverpool fan applauds you. Our clubs stood together to change the top flight, and form the premier league. We should stand together again to fight this corruption.
As an LFC fan, I have loved coming to this channel to watch Mark’s reactions to the lfc man utd games, but after this weekend, I have such a deep respect for him. Thank you for fighting for football. Its not a LFC problem, its a football problem. I appreciate your integrity and love for the sport
Thank you. Ignore any Liverpool fans making digs at Spurs, because you as a team don't deserve this. The referees are the ones who must be held accountable.
@@liverbot4854I'm a Liverpool fan and I totally agree with your sentiments and also I agree with Mark on this one. VAR ruined a brilliant match and that goal being allowed would have made for a different game, hell it could have been a win for us.
They would be screwed if they didn’t do anything about it and let it carry on, something has to be said. Liverpool and bringing all fans into the conversation as well as professional pundits on Sky Sports/Talksport and social media & word off mouth. It’s huge! They can’t shut down football if we all get involved. There’s nothing more frustrating for everyone when they try to get away with it. Human error is a sh*t excuse for a governing body of the football association. Correct there error and they will be appreciated instead of hated.
As a Scouser and Liverpool season ticket holder, I have to say I have nothing but respect for you, Mark. Rivalry aside, the bigger picture is football in general and it effects all football clubs. Nice one, Mark👍🏼
Mark as a Liverpool fan I really appreciate you standard for the integrity in the game of football. Many people are starting to lose the love for the game due to the drop in standards. This is about football as a whole and I want thank you for calling it out
@@williambuckley5601 Thats up to the West Ham fans to shout about. Also we are not talking about that. What if you got the penalty and missed it? We are talking about a legitimate goal that wasn’t awarded which is unprecedented in the fact the officials have acknowledged they made a mistake.
If West Ham had that goal (which isn't even a guarantee) the point tally would not have changed whereas, Liverpool were denied a factual goal that would have more likely than not gave them a point and taken 2 from spurs.@@williambuckley5601
Perhaps we have no lines men, it's all laser lines with robots. Everything would need to be checked and the ''human'' should check. If the lines men never flagged it offside then the goal would not of been dis allowed. Get rid of lines men! VAR works BT the ''human element'' does not! :)
Love this, Mark. Massive respect to you for consistently putting aside rivalries in order to provide a level-headed and rational response to all the nonsense we are seeing on a weekly basis. I already see folks claiming that Liverpool just loves to play the victim, or that they just love to whine and complain. Utter BS. They are a massive club, and they have an influence. Why on earth would someone, if they TRULY love the game of football, be against them leveraging their status in order to challenge an authority that has clearly lost the plot? Is this not a win for all supporters?
I’m a Liverpool season ticket holder and have family who are Man. Utd fans. However, I totally respect your view on the whole VAR issue after the weekend diabolical decision. Fair play to you Mark.
As an Arsenal fan who thought my massive respect for Liverpool couldn't possibly increase, I've been proven wrong 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Last season the PGMOL quite frankly bullied and had different standards for us on too many occasions and it's even carried over to this season with some of the bookings we get. That made us cower and opt not to make a fuss when the Brentford incident occurred You could even add their apology for wrongfully disallowing Martinelli's goal at Old Trafford, as well as the 4 clear penalties ignored against Soton at St Mary's, Gabriel not getting a pen in the dying minutes vs Newcastle at home and Enciso's goal at the Emirates after Kiwior had been CLEARLY FOULED to mishaps we should have taken further action against. Additionally many such incidents went in City's favor last season when they should've lost to Palace at the Etihad, and Coutinho's winner at Villa Park was also wrongfully disallowed, though admittedly they were also robbed of a win at Old Trafford. Liverpool know better than anyone how league titles, champions league spots and Premier league survival can be lost by a single point or GD. Good on them for standing up to the incompetent establishment
Liverpool will be robbed many more times within the course of the season since they are challenging Mancity just like Arsenal last season. Arsenal has been robbed like 6 times last season....PGMOL made apology 2 times. There's something suspicious going on. These guys dont want someone to compete with Mancity. Liverpool should be cautious and dont accept these unnecessary apologies
As a Chelsea fan, massive respect to you Mark. Also massive respect for Liverpool FC who have really questioned how football games are conducted. I feel more clubs need to put out statements echoing this sentiment. Hopefully Gusto’s red card or ban could be overturned.
@@BeobachterofTruth If Gusto red card can't be overturn, what are the chances of complains you going have regardless of which incident you going pull out of that Spurs/Pool game? All of them are lesser incidents which I'm not sure what people are b!tching about. And that lawsuit thing, LOL! That's a mighty big can of worms that Pool is opening...... Every team is going to look at this now for their advantage. There is no good end to this unless English FA dismiss this soon.
@@catlurver7296the issue is that VAR thought they were making one decision when it was actually the other. This is unprecedented. It’s not clear whether that actually legal by the rules of football
The majority of what you’ve said is spot on. However, it needs to be highlighted that PGMOL have not apologised. They’ve merely released an explanatory statement that tries to give excuses for the mess they made. Also, Liverpool might miss out on stuff from the points lost out on through this ridiculous officiating. But, so could other teams. Before any United fans get all tribal and shrug their shoulders, what if Spurs beat United to a top four place by a point or two, the points that they got in this game via the same incompetent refereeing?
For real Saturdays reffing was the final straw imo something needs to happen whether Liverpool press the issue or united or arsenal but it’s bound to happen and if it’s frequent in such big games like the Liverpool and Tottenham then teams can literally lose out on top 4 or titles because of their incompetence
exactly, some disgusting Tottenham fans were entertained the shambolic decision by the Var because we won the game. The truth is that we might get benfited from the var today, but god know what will happen to us tomorow... And I'm not even saying this to twerking for rival's fans but this is for the sake of my club, no one want to play in a league of corruption.
I salute you, Sue! The thing is. this is not Spurs mistake that this happened to be honest, and I am saying this as a Liverpool fan saying this. It is the PGMOL, FA and the refs who ruined a great evening between Spurs and Liverpool for all Football fans who were waiting to see how these two good teams would've played. There got to be a change moving forward or it might happen to other teams especially relegation battle teams or people fighting for a Euro spot who can have their whole season ruined.
Liverpool need to take this as far as possible. They have lost 2 EPL titles by 1 point and if both season has some very controversial decisions go against them in both seasons and every point can and does matter.
Thank you Mark for leaving rivalries aside. This situation has surpassed everything. The consistency of decisions and that lack of explanation from the referees are embarrassing. They should get rid of VAR or learn to use it properly. Spot on Mark!

As a Liverpool fan I'm so utterly disgusted in the VAR decisions over the weekend game. We faced two teams not just one. Thanks Mark for siding on Liverpool on this one and for the truth. This very well could have an impact on all the teams. Also I believe they lied when they mentioned the lines were drawn.

Credit to you Mark. You know exactly when to be objective and unbiased when discussing topics and when it's just good banter. Slowly becoming one of my favorite football media personalities, and this coming from a Liverpool fan.
Neville changed his opinion in fear of his job because he spouted out that while commentating in the gallery that they as commentators get to hear the VAR decisions immediately but Neville stated he heard nothing after the ball crossed the line and found it very strange and unusual ..In my opinion i reckon he was threatened with his job for saying what he said .
He's a corporate weasel who uses his so-called pro 'working class' political views to appear as a man of the people. If he was truly threatened or coerced into changing his tone, then he should say so and make it public, then come out all guns blazing against the corporate footballing world. But like most of these big talkers, they aren't much when it comes to doing anything about it, especially when their own necks are on the line. Thanks for being a level headed spurs fan. I perused the spurs subreddit after the game and it was full of spurs fans telling ppl/Liverpool to suck it, and saying this is justified based on previous decisions in past games vs Liverpool. Got to admire Mark for taking the side of football.. It's not just about bias.. Liverpool & Utd are goliaths of the game and would make positive changes in our game if we worked together with the help of more channels like this 🤷♂️
The point people seem to be missing (biased by the love of their own club perhaps) is that Liverpool are not asking for any special treatment here.. They simply want consistency in the sport.. As anyone that watches/plays football should want.. We all deserve the right to have our clubs judged and officiated to the same level week in week out.. If in week 1 a player receives a yellow card for going to the ref and waving to get another player a card then for the next 38 weeks we expect that any other player that does it will receive yellow as well.. Consistency is what makes competitive sport fair .. it is not for officials to judge on a whim or their feelings how a game should be won or lost.. This fight back from LFC isnt just about getting what is fair for them its about protecting what is fair to all clubs...no matter what team you support you should all back them in this so that we can avoid future f**K ups like this !!
Arsenal should have done this last year as well. Honestly hope all the teams band together and do something about this rivalry aside. The quality of officiating in the UK is bordering criminal.
It might be a bit of a blessing that this happened to Liverpool. They’re a big team who would actually fight back for the integrity of football. And we need this now more than ever in light of the Barca allegations that came out recently.
1. Liverpool missed out on a league title by a point...TWICE. 2. If apologies are enough, we wouldn't need the police or a legal system. 3. This isn't just a Liverpool thing. Massive respect to u sir 👏 The problem is not with VAR, it's with the people running it . That's it If we get rid of VAR, we will definitely get more horrible decisions like what happened with the Diaz goal more regularly. VAR is working fine in other leagues
VAR can work. The FA and Premier League need to examine exactly how the video refs interface with rugby matches. It's not perfect, but still the decision accuracy is vastly superior and the system is used in an efficient manner that doesn't bring the viewing experience to a complete standstill. In my opinion rugby pretty much already had the system football needed and this VAR has been pretty much a reinvention of the wheel.
I've always said Mark is an absolute legend and his stance on this matter only strengthens my opinion of him. He clearly has his own mind and speaks with logical consideration, which is something you rarely find in people. particularly football fans. He's a voice for the football community in my opinion.

@@raduungureanu2080 yup the main focus should be on the point you made, but you'll find alot of morons saying that VAR has helped Liverpool in the past too, so this is acceptable.
The one thing we all want is the right decision & consistency with decisions. If a team or a player does something wrong, there’s a price to pay or punishment. The same should go for the officiating to make sure standards are met & maintained
Absolutely spot on Mark. Liverpool have to pursue this case for themselves and hopefully the outcome will benefit all teams. Given the money in premier league football the lack of professionalism in VAR is totally unacceptable. In Rugby fans get VAR commentary in realtime, why not football? Where were the Liverpool fans when VAR didn't spot the clear penalty denied to West Ham a week ago?
That made us cower and opt not to make a fuss when the Brentford incident occurred
You could even add their apology for wrongfully disallowing Martinelli's goal at Old Trafford, as well as the 4 clear penalties ignored against Soton at St Mary's, Gabriel not getting a pen in the dying minutes vs Newcastle at home and Enciso's goal at the Emirates after Kiwior had been CLEARLY FOULED to mishaps we should have taken further action against.

Before any United fans get all tribal and shrug their shoulders, what if Spurs beat United to a top four place by a point or two, the points that they got in this game via the same incompetent refereeing?

......and that's it, in a nutshell!
Big respect for Mark here.
As a Spurs fan I applaud this action , this affects us all , every club in the premier league has or will be shafted by VAR at some point .
For real Saturdays reffing was the final straw imo something needs to happen whether Liverpool press the issue or united or arsenal but it’s bound to happen and if it’s frequent in such big games like the Liverpool and Tottenham then teams can literally lose out on top 4 or titles because of their incompetence
See the North London derby for more dodgy refereeing
exactly, some disgusting Tottenham fans were entertained the shambolic decision by the Var because we won the game.

VAR have gone along and against all teams almost equally. The difference between all those cases and this one is that this one can be debated as corrupt, while plenty of the previous decisions may/may not be very subjective. Mark makes a brilliant point at 6:10
As a Liverpool fan, this match was probably one of the most hurtful games ive watched, even the 7-2 lost to Aston Villa didnt feel this bad.
All teams except City
it's not even about being equal at the end. losing a game you should win and then winning a game you should lose doesn't even out. it just makes the whole sport a parody.
Well done mark. I am not a Utd fan but you speak for all football fans. ❤ well done 👏🏽
Absolutely spot on Mark. Liverpool have to pursue this case for themselves and hopefully the outcome will benefit all teams. Given the money in premier league football the lack of professionalism in VAR is totally unacceptable. In Rugby fans get VAR commentary in realtime, why not football? You’re correct to call-out the PGMOL dictatorship as there is no contractual process in place for clubs to address material loss, therefore no accountability.
Real talk
Mark, 37 year deep Liverpool fan here. As you say, rivalries aside when it comes to good of the game. Enjoy your videos generally despite your shade of Red but this one was epic. 99% in absolute agreement.
You’re wishing Utd would do what we did here, I’ve wished our fans would do what yours did and stand up against the owners.
Top man. Goldbridge saves football. Keep it up Mark. Thanks.
Damn Mark… I agree with every single word! Respect for this take. Devastated with what happened as a Liverpool fan, I wish something will come of this!
