  • It's the time of year to make dishes eaten by the pilgrims . . . like Tarta de Santiago! If you've never added this gluten free almond cake to your Thanksgiving menu, here's why:
The pilgrims we're talking about are "peregrinos" who traveled to Santiago de Compostela, Spain on "El Camino de Santiago" or the Way of St. James, the most renowned medieval pilgrimage, which dates back to the 9th century. Once you arrive in Santiago de Compostela, the end of "el camino," you will find this sweet and fluffy cake with a hint of lemon sold in bakeries around the city. It pairs nicely with a cup of coffee.

I'm from Portugal and we also love almond desserts. Thank you for this recipe... it is quite similar to the version of Toucinho do Ceu without the Xila pumpkin jam.

    Can I use Almondi Flour?

We asked Caroline, and she said yes! Almond flour is just ground more finely than almond meal, so it will be a very slight difference. It's a perfect substitution.
