According to reports, the Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors are the teams favored to land Durant. Well I can certainly see how KD is upset… they traded Harden for Simmons who is a mentally soft player who has suited up because he is soft mentally and the team refused to give Kyrie a long term extension contract and the whole reason KD went to the Nets was to play with Kyrie there. I can understand his frustrations. However KD did sign a 4 year contract extension last offseason… but could have been under the belief that KD would be given a long term contract.

Skip is missing an important point. If Brooklyn doesn't work with KD on this trade request, and tries to play hard ball, then that will affect their chances of landing future free agents. There is a balancing act to an organization conducting its business while trying to maintain a good "player friendly" reputation and culture. Free agents will not want to sign with organizations that have bad reputations with player treatment.
If Skip was the executive of a sports organization, with his overly tough attitude, would you be a free agent that would sign with his team and put yourself under contract to him and his organization? He's forgetting who the Stars of the show are that actually draw in the audience.

I feel like the nets must have verbally promised KD they'd give Kyrie the extension when he signed his 4 year deal. Then not giving Kyrie the extension has made Kd wanna leave.
I just posted that a few minutes ago… that I thought perhaps KD was under the impression that Kyrie would get a long term extension if he himself signed an extension. If that’s the case then that’s a bad look on the Nets and that they should honor KD’s request.

They just need to go ahead and do Russ and AD with the two picks for Kyrie and KD. They're handicapped trading for young stars and that's the best way for them to still be a playoff team. If Russ and Beal can be a playoff team in the East, he can with AD if he stays on the court and they have enough shooting around them.
Trade Kyrie to Phoenix then Phoenix sends CP3 to L.A. and L.A. sends Westbrook to Brooklyn. Then the Suns can work out a separate deal with the Nets and another teams to send KD to his preferred destination of Phoenix and he can be quickly reunited with Kyrie and Both players can play with Booker. All teams are happy. Lebron would be thrilled to play with CP3 over Westbrook that’s for sure.

Yep, count me in the camp that believes the Nets significantly reduced their title chances when they added Harden. It was the sexier, more appealing team to the masses with that heralded big three on offense, but they were a better all round team with the pieces they gave up.

I have been an avid fan of the GSW since I first saw them play beautiful basketball in 2015. If they acquire or even attempt to sign KD they immediately lose me as a fan.

I hate to break it to you....but nba teams, players and owners dont care about losing fans. The nba is a money monster with fans all over the world that buy the product. As long as Golden State win another ring its not gonna matter if your not a fan.

The only move that makes sense is for him to go back to Warriors. He'll never be motivated going to the Suns or staying with Brooklyn. He needs guys like SC, KT and DG to keep him sharp. He knows he's not a number 1 guy to lead a team to the championship. There were bumps during his tenure with Golden State, but it's still the best fit for him all-around. I watched him play a few times when I lived in Cali and his role was nearly perfect when it clicked....

I think KD should actually consider playing with the Raptors. They got young talent, Scottie Barnes, and Gary Trent JR. They also got two all stars in Fred Vanvleet, and Pascal Siakam. But then again, Brooklyn would want some of those players for KD.
If I'm management, I want to see how KD, Kyrie, Ben Simmons, Joe Harris, Claxton do as a starting squad for one season.
I like how KD named two franchises to go to that would be teams that would treat the players he’d be playing with like how he was with Steph. Phoenix has Booker and Ayton. Heck they probably see Chris Paul as a guy who gave them a lot and he helped them get to the Finals. Miami has Jimmy, Bam, Hero, Spoelstra, and the Pat Riley culture that Miami is known for would be seen as what got them to the point to win the Finals.
In short, Phoenix and Miami would still see KD as “The Mercenary”. Not the leader or the guy. He didn’t like that with Steph so why would he want that to happen. Again.
