    Thank you for this video. I have been flying slope and electric planes for about 45 years now! I got out of the hobby for about 20 years, then back in around 2007, then back out for a while the past 9 years or so. I needed your help programming my 2009 XPlorer 4000 and a few other carbon sail planes. When I went to replace my batteries I realized how much has changed on plane design and electronics! WOW! This plane is running a 3850 4c battery, and the new ones run an 850! New planes are so much lighter too. But, I am determined to get my planes back up as they were lol. Your video helped me remember most of the mixes I needed.

    I really enjoy your videos and this one is no exception. As someone who is old enough to be your dad I want to share how impressed I am with you. With all your skills and accomplishments you still take the time to help all of us who will never fly the way you do.
    This video offers so much and I have had to watch it a couple of times to pick up even a few of the kernels you are sharing. I have flown hand launch for many years but these planes are another level of performance and tuning. Thank you again so much for trying to help me enjoy these wonderful planes.

    My only problem with watching these videos is I will never own an airplane like this. It is just way ...way out of my budget. So I just enjoy the foam and balsa planes that I have.
    Keep up the good work.

      You can also do this with the volantex asw or pheonix if you want. For under $200 you can play with these.
      Thats what I do to test anything. I use one of the cheaper gliders before dropping a new program on my maxa

    • @michaelwhinnery164
      @michaelwhinnery164 Před 3 lety

      @@woogieman02 it's not even close to the same thing though. The linkage and connectors on the cheaper models have so much slop and play that the comparison is almost laughable. I mean that's why the competition planes are so expensive.

    • @woogieman02
      @woogieman02 Před 3 lety +1

      @@michaelwhinnery164 agreed about the linkages, but you can get thr basic concept of the controls. These higher priced birds are like a Ferrari and the volantex would be like a pinto. Both can drive and get you use to thr road.
      These same concepts can be used on any priced plane. The higher ones will have better response and more control. But with that they also about make you cry when you crash them, unlike the $200 for the foam planes.

    • @michaelwhinnery164
      @michaelwhinnery164 Před 3 lety

      @@woogieman02 no doubt...I avoided the "flight test " foam board models for years. But now I love them !!! They won't win any contests, but when you crash you're not left with a pile of tooth picks. You just quickly repair the foam board or scrap it and build another for $35.
      I can't imagine how difficult it must be to repair carbon fiber- kevlar coated wings

    Thanks Julian for the interesting video. I have an older version of the Xperience Pro electro, very nice plane. Most of my settings are identical to yours, but I do have one question about your setup. Why do you mix flaps with elevator in "normal flight mode"? I would guess it gives more overall stability, especially in turns? Many regards, Bert (Belgium)

    Julian, thanks for this Video, very useful! Question: in which modes do you have or need “snap-flap”? Only in “neutral” flight phase or in all flight phases, such as “speed”, “thermic 1” and “thermic 2”? Thanks for your reply in advance!

    • @RCflyingmore
      @RCflyingmore  Před 3 lety +1

      I use snap-flap in all my flight phases. But in "thermal 2" I use it a little bit less.

    Your servos is under load without you moving anything which is not good and will drain the receiver battery quickly

  • @plate2264
    @plate2264 Před rokem

    So by looking at your setup your throttle stick that you use for your landing mode is always active meaning if you pulled down your throttle stick all the way to the of position say In thermal mode it would pull your flaps down in that mode.
    Is this how you have setup your flight modes.
    I use in my landing mode which has a variable camber in my landing mode .
    I use my throttle stick as well say a switch is used for distance but if I pick a thermal on the way coming back I just use my throttle stick pull it down a bit to activate thermal mode.
    It does not matter how much further down I pull my stick it will go to my thermal settings and no further.
    Have been brave enough to use snap flap 😂 you got me thinking 🤔 are you using snap flap when you are down low with motor on so you can do the high speed bank turns to stir up the thermal activity?
    Is that why you are using snap flap. Will be interested to hear your reasoning for this. Great video content very interesting indeed 😊👌

    How does the Experience differ from the Explorer in flight, and can you use it as a full-fledged competition glider?

    • @RCflyingmore
      @RCflyingmore  Před 3 lety +2

      The Xperience is a great choice to get into F5J flying, but of course, if you want to play with the big guys then a Explorer Q would be a better choice. Maybe I will make a summary video about the Xperience, there I will compare the Xperience with some other planes
