Saw these guys last night in Philly and they played this song, as well as a lot of their classics.
Robo from Black Flag was also there. They brought him on stage and they played Rise Above and Six Pack. Amazing show.
i was there for that it was great. The smoking popes opened for them
Yep. And A Wilhelm Scream was there as well. Fantastic band
I'm 40 and I never got to see these guys. I know they came through on warped tour or whatever, maybe I missed the show. This is posi-punk at it's finest! It's hard to listen to this and not feel a little hopeful, cheers from Metro Detroit!
I'm really jealous of you. It must have been an amazing show
Its what I get for Descending into CZcams comments, but I loved this song!
It wasn't as angry maybe, but it has a message and an important one, and definitely had emotion in it
And it was brilliant. imho and all that
Robert J Palmer hehe “descending”
Descendents rocks, great song...
it's funny to see how offended the people gets...
I can't love this enough!
Good stuff , punk is no fascist culture
Amine Stonedeadforever Darby Crash was a fascist... not that I agree with him
Ahahaha never listened to his band , never will , Im all about PMA and solidarity/unity
Gustavo Hawke if you're not a leftist you hate freedom
"fascism = all for state" Wrong. Try again
Renan Teixeira It is an ultra nationalist ideology whose goal is to destroy the individual entity in sacrifice to the state. He wasn't that far off. Modern day right classical liberals are not that different from many progressive leftists. Just in the camp of social justice. And I'd argue the difference is simply the means by which each side thinks is the most prudent way to do it. I sympathize with the right who think government compulsion rarely changes the opinion of the public. We can see it today.
No more hate. Be tolerant and let's more forward.
Music is still art and a way to express your feelings, that's why I love this.
Thank you Descendents!
"They just pitted us against each other" that's all I'm seeing in the comments!
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." ― Mahatma Gandhi
Get 'em MILO!
To everyone who says that this "used to be a punk band" or "punk went SJW", allow me to just say that this song would not have been out of place in the Reagan Administration-era punk scene.
Don’t even know when this came out it just feels punk through and through
I agree, any one who says any later stuff by original punk bands isn't real punk doesn't understand real punk, it can't be labelled or confined to a single sound or genre
Punk went "SJW" in 1977 lol
I don't know what sjw means. This song just isn't very good. Tbh, I only like maybe 5 Descendents songs, so maybe they're an acquired taste. I could see fox news playing this song, to try to say "see, we're hip!"
@@private6422 Area man who doesn't like Descendents fails to like a Descendents song. Alert the press, this is news!
Thank you, guys. Damn awesome song. See you when you come to town in October!
Now that's, the American Society of one greatest punk rock band!
Stand up! Resist!
Amazing song guys!
(GNARLY GUITAR SOLO)
That's who we are.
Gnarly guitar solo.
There's an ancient tradition handed down from our ancestors that you younger folks should heed: "If the program's not the one you want: get up, turn off the set."
Dead sounds like what would happen if the South Park guys parodied a 2000's Green Day song--Right down to the "That's how I feel!" line in the chorus. I mean, I love the Decedents but Christ.
So good
Es genial ♥
Una leyenda renace... Aguante Descendents no me importa nada vieja! xD
GREAT!
AWESOME
First time listing made me cry
this sounds like a stupid commercial
My friend gave me a beat up Descendents cassette in '92 and I've been in love since..... But this song is horrible all the way around. It sounds like shit and the message is garbage. I hate this SJW/Antifa bullshit that modern punk is. One song isn't gonna kill it for me but it's still a let down.
I'm over here like eh another Hypercaffium release but no this is brand new! Glad to hear it!
So catchy! Hell ya!
This aged well
If you want to help women and girls then more immigrants from non-western civilizations is clearly the answer.
Ah man, it definitely hurts when you don't like a song from your favorite childhood band. I'm not a fan of the political aspect of the lyrics, but I can easily get over that as most of todays culture is "this administration sucks!". It's just the writing, however. This whole "Be The Resistance", and all is way too angsty.. It reminds me of lyrics that I used to write in High School. Disappointed to say the least, but looking forward to another album..
why so much hate ? WHY? is a fucking masterpiece ...dont act like idiots and listen to somethin different
alexandros tzitzer it's not
The debate over defining 'what is punk' is fruitless. No one wins or changes the core belief of an opponent.I suggest you take song/s for what they are, rather than deep analysis; especially over what constitutes being punk.
What an amazing song
(Gnarly Guitar Solo)
I don't know it just comes off a bit preachy
Was this on the Team America soundtrack?
This just feels like wagon hopping to me
Fuck yeah! ✊ UNITE FOR JUSTICE!
The Descendents are my favorite band, that won't change, but whatever happened to the old Descendents/All slogan "Keep your politics out of my music?" The track is good, but they even sell a sticker with the phrase on the website. I prefer the non-political descendents to anything else
I have to agree with you. But in this f***** up time we live in today, I feel (No pun intended) that it's being pushed to were we have to choose a side. and if you don't you'll look like a traitor. But the thing is if you choose a side your as traitor to not only to yourself but the other side as well. So, your damnd if you do and your damnd if you don't.
pretty good way to weed out the dull nuts though dont you think?
Remember some old bands that started associating with homosexuality to disuade the occasional disruptive nazi characters showing up in their audience.
M-16, statue of liberty, caught, merican, sad state of affairs are all political songs, what are you on about mate? You're also misinterpreting the phrase
He somehow mistakenly stumbled into a Descendents video thinking it was an oi band.
maybe you misunderstood what they meant by "your politics." you know how many wp skins were at shows in the 80s and 90s, right?
Cool to be you!
milo knows his shit!
The anatomy of a hit song...Love It!
Fucking perfect. Yeah. Some parts are corny and cheesy. But the message is important. Come together. Unite. Equality among all races and sexual orientations. RESPECT WOMEN. How the fuck can you hate this, even though it might sound a little cheesy?
one reason you can hate it, is that the words don't mean what you think they mean, for example, respect women = love abortion. (all proceeds from this song go to planned parenthood, UCLA etc.) . another example , Equality among races = affirmitve action (basically discrimination against whites). in other words, they use words that you'd be "evil" to disagree with, but their words mean something else.
Because it's just horrible
@@johndoe-cb5ck sigh.
@@DopamineOverload exactly! Sad isn't
Fucking Planned Parenthood? Yeah, butchering a baby because you weren't bright enough to get a condom that ain't popped is totally fine and dandy. This and Doyle not being able to play anything other than power chords really brings me down.
Yikes... this could be a Katy Perry song. Sorry, dudes - I prefer Rockstar/NO FB-era 'Dents.
mikehermetic Those two songs give me the chills... love em so much. NO FAT BEAVER!!!
I love Milo and the Descendents. Now, I'm not one to dive into politics in any way shape or form. But with everyone labeling Trump as the second coming of Hades, all of a sudden it feels so "Punk Rock" to support the guy and his system, and this song just adds to that illusion even more. We love ya Milo, but Good God Almighty this could've been the theme song to Obamacare. I'm saying this half-heartedly as a joke, but in a legit and serious way. Can we all just get back to College?
The Banzai Charger you want this instead czcams.com/video/vPRfP_TEQ-g/video.html
@@dragonMultimediaDesign I went and looked, I wish I could UN-see that video. I added my thumbs down, 19K like and 65K dislike. Maybe I can wash my eyes with disinfectant.
When they're gonna release the DVD "Descendents live in Benghazi"?
Happy 4th
I guess they should remove the "KEEP YOUR POLITICS OUT OF MY MUSIC" sticker from their merch site.
R Chocker Didn't you know? That sticker means "YOUR" politics not "MINE". Lmao. But really that's alot of ppl have always felt. Hypocrisy at its finest.
thats the DRI symbol in your avatar ? (OP)
Remi, but Punk wasn't dead. It went underground since 2004.
It said keep YOUR politics out of (their) music. :)

I'd still like to hear them cover Generator by Bad Religion.
Momento atual da política brasileira descrito nessa música! PUTA FODA!
You guys are my favorite band, and have been since the mid 1980's......I don't fit neatly into any political position, but I'd prefer more Pep Talk, and less political commentary
It sucks that "who we are" has to be Joe Biden though
Mad respect! Thank you! See ya in the pit!
i dunno if any ones said this yet buuuutttttt.....: MUGMUGMUG!! COFFEE MUG!!!! "done here" said the bass master general.
bryce tetrickk I miss the bass master general 😭
New York Cobr
as
are they named "The DescendEnts" ironically because it's punk rock to spell things wrong?
Noooo, they're named that because the letter "A" didn't exist in the late 70's.....
Conrad, Descen"dents". I guess cheeky dad puns and play-on-words will be forever puke. I mean punk
"that's how I feel" is definitely the motto of the modern left
Zamir Humud yeah no shit! How "tolerant of them"
If it wasn't the Descendents this song would be cheezy. Since it is the Descendents this song is quite brilliant. Imagine any other singer or band trying to pull those lyrics off.
i love this fucking band!!
Such an appropriate song for what we are facing in the world right now. In a short period of time, immigration will be on the backburner while we are fighting international conflicts.
Pinstripe Jim immigration isn't invading a country, attempting to make it assimilate to them.
not really appropriate at all. eight years of silence on politics, just to dip right in. antifa fascists attacking people, leftover crack fascists calling for the murder of "racists." pussies!
Pinstripe Jim total horse shit!
Pinstripe Jim They made an announcement today. The current administration is opening up worldwide immigration this very moment with a more stringent vetting process, their goal the entire time. I hate the administration, but if you're going to insult them, do so accurately.
No reason to lie when there are so many actualities occurring that deserve ridicuke.
I love this songs message
Look. everybody thinks this is crap. It's freaking awesome and the Descendents ALLways will be so shut up.
THIS IS THE NEW ANTHEM OF PUNKROCK MUSIC
Rifados
"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."
FAREWELL ADDRESS | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1796
Hehe i like this.
i m stealing master baiting race
I think it's a decent song, I don't disagree with the lyrics, but lyrically this could've had much better word play, a bit generic. I think an anti trump song would be more appealing if it was mean, fast and snotty. I don't like either political party, they're both corrupt, but yeah Trumps a shitty person and he wears it on his sleeve for all to see unlike most snakey politicians. I like the message but the song would have been way better without the "chants" thrown in. Still a good message, but it sounds a bit like pandering the way it's presented. Catchy tho for the most part!
Exactly. We need straight up noisecore shit as protest music, not decent listenable stuff.
" I think an anti trump song would be more appealing if it was mean, fast and snotty."
Try ours, it's pretty snotty: czcams.com/video/J05K2_I_6NI/video.html
Well, its still waaaay more intelligent, way more eloquent, way more honest than anything Trump, his family, or most of his supporters have to say..
The backings represent different voices, different ages; I think the harmonies compliment it well. I'm not being a smart arse on this point: songwriters often don't think too colourfully when penning lyrics. They have ideas and idealism and "one day" it gets penned, or shards of lyrics come together. I'm not up for the need of clever "bells and whistles" in songs. It's art - subjective on whether it's colourful/clever.
In hindsight it underlines what now has really come to a head.
"It is what it is." ✌
it went at epitaph label? it seems a green day song
I don't have any problem with the message they are trying to convey in this song but it's just way too damn corny.
Agreed.
Sure I may not be a fan of the political lyrics, but this song fucking bangs.
Descensents turned bad religion.
Que Quilomboo alguien que me expliqueee
❤
Idiot XX
The song is fucking cool
I like the message, but the lyrics weren't that great. Overall the song was ok for me.
Wow! Descendants are writing new songs???? It's a meh song, but still, this is awesome news!
Yeah listen to without love man. Best song they released within the past few years
I've been hearing it on my Spotify. It's quite alright
EARLY!
UH WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
Freaking cool
I was curious about what the comments would be like here. Was not surprised, although disappointed.
This is why I don't like to go to shows....
Not surprised either. I figured every Trump-supporting punk and their mother's uncle would be here bitching.
Racists cower on the Internet. Don't be discouraged to go to punk rock shows. They're very inclusive.
It doesn't say it's a lyrics video in the title. Don't mislead.
song is s**t anyway
Proceeds go to SPLC enough said :(
This isn't it a punk song, it's a pop song, what happened Milo?.
Milo goes Democratic
yeah. its almost as if the punk movement is being hyjacked by what was described in "holiday in Cambodia"
Max Rios Ah, yes, the times when punk _never_ included political subjects in its lyrical topics and themes...
Except there was never such a time.
ever hear of Dead Kennedys? i avoided them when i got into punk knowing they were political
Descendents got more poppy over the years, but there was always a lot of pop influence in their music.
@@ronaldeldonald yeah, come on, they covered the Beach Boys
not bad...

France: Lepen or Macron ? No one of course ~
Did George Soros produce this?
Embarrassing they were so great up to grow up
I dig the message but the song and the lyrics are weak. I'm sorry.
I don't think that some folks understand what, "Keep your politics out of my music," means...this song is awesome, and earnest, and fucking necessary!
Orange Man Bad.
exactly
oi
apparently Descendents are better at political songs than Bad Religion are now. Wow.
RESIST DRUMPFFF. I am an individual.
They definitely lost some points with me for promoting the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. I wish everyone in the entertainment industry would just keep their politics to themselves.
Good song. Always will prefer the political songs of Dead Kennedy’s though. This is a little bit too liberal for me.
I believe in these basic rights, but not so much the democracy stuff. I liked it better when we kept politics out of the music
HAHA.
Punk came from people who had varying ideals like; galitarianism, humanitarianism, anti-authoritarianism, anti-consumerism, anti-corporatism, anti-war, decolonization, anti-conservatism, anti-globalization, anti-gentrification, anti-racism, anti-sexism, gender equality, racial equality, health rights, civil rights, animal rights, disability rights, free-thought and non-conformity.
Punk is political.
@@MischiefGlowworm you absolute idiot. You probably listened to another brick in the wall pt2 and thought the complete the wall album was a critic towards the educational system in 50's England. Why don't you listen to Milo goes to college, I don't wanna Grow up, and Enjoy, then come back and tell me if Descendents is political? I couldn't care less about the musical genre, I care about the band and the amazing people on it! So fuck off, and keep your politics off my music.
I want to like it but it's kinda cheesy. It's very 'African Child' to me.
