Sir what this line means List l1=new ArrayList(), I know one is interface and one is abstract apart from this does it means

as you know you can't make a object of interface directly so we create parent class instance with the help of extended/implemented class. l1 is a instance of list interface implemented to ArrayList internaly . And by default all list methods need to be overriden so all methods of list interface are overriden by ArrayList class.

Not exactly same,
But reasons why STL used in c++ is same as in java, and
STL methods, benefits can be achieved through using COLLECTION FRAMEWORKS in java
So we can say they are same in this point of view. :)
