Thank you so much for these tests. I was glad to see that the results of the xtreme penetrator near the fixture versus the top of the sheet were similar. I thought the difference in shot location "would matter" more. Great accidental sanity check. This test deserves WAAYYYYYYY more thumbs up and views !!!! Well done !!!!
Thanks so much!! Yep exactly the top or bottom doesnt really matter, it doesn't have to be rigid.
That xtreme penetrator is no joke! People call these gimmick rounds…the tests prove otherwise. Amazing. Thanks for the test brother!
I was qualifying at work and brought along a ballistic vest panel we no longer used. I shot it twice with 10mm Extreme Penetrators and both passed through. It was rather impressive.
I wonder how the Xtreme Penetrator compares to the G9 variant?
I know that at some distance (example, just throwing out a number, 75 yds.), the unique rds can vere off course by a few feet.
I do similar tests (no channel though), but I use 26 gauge steel because it's free from my work. 26 gauge is much thinner. 10mm Xtreme Penetrator went through 24 sheets of it while a 10mm FMJ went through 20 sheets.
Thanks for sharing
In the past I’ve always relied on the Buffalo Bore 220 grain when in bear country. After seeing the results here, the Xtreme Penetrator is going the be my new bear country carry round. I’m still going to keep the Buffalo Bore on hand though.
The metal sheets have a lot of flex since they are only secured on the bottom, try the same test with a board on the top securing all of the sheets and then you’ll get more realistic results. If you’re using these in real life car doors, windshield and body’s aren’t going to flex that way
Except the Underwood penetrated the same both top and bottom.
Thanks for running these tests and posting the results. I do agree that there is a lot of flex on the top of the plates. This might have an influence on things, depending on where the bullet enters the sheet top to bottom. Maybe supporting the tops would be something to try and see if the results vary. Thanks again!
I'd guess there would be deeper penetration on rigid sheet metal. All that "give" is wasted energy.
Nice test, I'm also impressed with the Underwood xtreme penetrator.
Found your channel from watching KLW channel. I def want people like you on "my" side when SHTF
Try 9 by 25 dillon extreme pentrators.
Great test. Make me curious how would a Xtreme Penetrator shaped hard cast ammo behaves in the same test. Wish one day we'll see this option.
The underwood EP has a pice of steel from one of the pieces stuck to it so it punched a hole instead of ripping through that's cool.
yeah it is very interesting how that works
Thanks for this test. I love that 10mm.
Best semi-auto in my opinion. I love it.
Great video 👍💪What kind of guide rod are you using?
From my experience, Underwood and Buffalo bore ammo, make real 10 mm rounds. The other companies don’t put enough powder so they’re really nothing more than a 40 Smith & Wesson.
Good going, good stuff chief 👏 👏 👏.
Thanks boss
That's how the test works, the xtp kept the jacket so you should weigh it as is
I Like The Lead Residue Splatter that's Neat
Yea it looks cool haha
One sheet, I’m going through a car door.
Excellent.
Thank you.
I got to get some of those underwood penetrators after watching your tests I am impressed.
Thanks for watching! Yea they impressed me too. Any solid copper bullet will work great with 10mm.
Interesting tests & results. Thanks
Thanks for watching
Awesome test!!!
Thank you!
Interesting to note about how much energy it takes to put a dent into some 16ga steel. It would take a good size hammer, and a good swing to make a dent like that in one go. Essentially Im saying- the energy it takes to produce this kind of damage is much more than most can do to that material in one go.
Yea I know it is surreal and my elephant gun went through crazy amount...take a look at that video
@@NYPrepper 300RUM at 1,000- now THAT is a hell of a vid!!!!!!!! Wow.
watched a ton of videos almost went with hard cast but i think im going with the extreme pen for grizzly defense thanks for the video! would like to see rifle and shotgun pen test just to see how more affective they are when up against a grizzly
One of the BEST TESTS SEEN, been looking and found all but what this young man test methods, subscribed. 💯
Thank you...much more to come
@@NYPrepper Thank you very much young man, I am having an issue with picking up the Right ammo for AR15 that can use 223 and 5.56, brand wise, not sure if Federal is ok for example , HPBT are preferred I guess, thing is to save money while still having a good results.. Thanks again for the EXCELLENT CONTENTS
playback speed of 1.5x is perfect
Nicely done... I use the Xtreme Penetrator in a G40... runs over 1600 fps..
Thats smokin!! Thank you more to come.
Cool test. Thank you. With that, I wonder how the outcome would be if the top of the sheets were secured like the bottom to remove some of the flex?
My money was always on underwood, been wanting some of those 100 grain extreme penetrators, gonna see if you've got a video
defense for cars now we know we don't need hard cast, can stick with Xtreme penetrator 140 grain copper solids
You should put another board on top to hold the metal more securely, as it is it flexes and uses up some of the energy
I can tell you don't do much ballistic testing or have little experience with firearms. That doesn't matter I have done numerous tests with these to prove that. It either has the energy to punch through or it doesn't.
Guess you didn't read the guidelines, for little experience, I'm 65 years old and have been hunting and shooting all my life. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Rude little man
At least the third time I've watched this great test. It's a piece of mind confidence boost for my carry in grizz world.
GREAT VIDEO !
Thank you!
Have you tried the VELO 10mm 200 grain Hard Cast Lead and the Winchester Big Bore 10. 200 grain SJHP, Well done,Thank you.
That stuck E.P. looks like it punched a circle out of the 3rd like a cap & rammed it into the 4th. Thats impressive. Subbed. Well done there bud! 😁
Thanks for watchin, got sone more like this coming.
The thing about 10 mm ammo is finding a load worthy of the gun which isn't easy. I've seen other videos where most factory loaded 10 mm struggle to stay on par with a standard 40 cal s&w round over a chronograph and in gel. It's also odd how some people would have totally differing results using the same ammo. Also I have noticed that I have yet to see a round nose fmj in either 40 cal or 10mm. I don't have a 10 mm, I just have a 9mm. I have seen gel penetration tests where average 115 gr 9mm range ammo and again in gel, out penetrate both hard cast and extreme penetrator. The ammo inc is the real deal. I have both 115 gr jhp, 115 gr fmj, as well as some 124 gr fmj ammo inc for my 9mm. The jhp as only nine bucks for a box of 20. Compared to sometimes nearly thirty buck for a box of 25 hornady critical defense or duty it's a no brainer. And the ammo inc fmj box of 50 9mm was only 13 a box.
I handload 10mm and if not I only trust Buffalo Bore and some Underwood
@@NYPrepper You're one up on me I don't reload lol. A question for you/ Do you have an email I could contact you at? I wanna run something by you that might or might not interest you.
The Ammoinc probably stayed intact because of its low velocity, I doubt it was even close to the advertised 1190 fps.
I chronographed it it does get that much
very interesting test, especially given the unsecured way you set up the plates. Wonder what the test would look like with a 16 or 17' carbine:)
Man I love 10mm
I use Underwood 180 gr. XTP JHP's (1250/660) in my Glock 29 daily carry, and I would bet they would easily penetrate one sheet and put a big dent in the second.
What would be your top factory loads for bear defense in 10mm and 45-70? I’ve been watching a lot of your videos thank you for doing this!!
What you just saw. Underwood Xtreme penetrator. Glock model 40 would be best.
Just a thought if you put something that would hold the top of the metal, so the metal would not flex so much like you have on the bottom would it make a difference?
No it wouldn't as you see I shot the top and bottom of it and made no difference.
Do you know why the 10 was developed?
testing
Wow, But Glock says Dont use hard cast, as it has lead and it ruins the barrel, is that the reason you used another one? I also heard from a Glock guy saying it wasn't made for hard casts ,thanks, loved the vid bud.
I have used hardcasts with the factory Glock barrel with no problem. Just make sure you clean the barrel more frequently and are using a high brinell hardness hardcast not a mediumcast or soft cast. You want a true hardcast. I got the upgraded barrel for better accuracy and for the threaded barrel so I can use my suppressor and slightly longer. It has a tighter chamber too.
@@NYPrepper Thank you bud, any brand on mind to will look up? stay safe and thanks again.
great video!
Thanks!
I Use Gold Dot Hollow Points in My Two Tone Kimber 1911 45 ACP I Want To Try These Exotic Ammo Brands 💯
Gold Dots are good for expansion, but not penetration. They are designed to open up quickly for cops to avoid over penetrating.
@@NYPrepper What Kind of Exotic Ammo is Good For 45 ACP What Would You Recommend?
So what I’m hearing is if I’m in bear country, bring the xtreme penetrators.
I live in CO and am often deep in the wilderness, good to know.👍
They would work, solid flat noses would work better
@@NYPrepperI'm curious if Hard Cast Flat Nose is superior against bears, is it superior for self defense? what is the exact load and ammo type you would prefer for say a 40 s$w conceal carry? my logic is Id want my ammo to put down bears and big bad guys the same way, quick.
Lot of options for black bear. But if you're ever in coastal brown bear territory, most carry that 220 HC
I don't know. I think the Xtreme penetrator is better for Grizzlies. Brown bear have so much mass and the skull is so thick you want to go through as much as you can as deep as you can and the last thing you want is bullets skipping off the skull rather than going through it and if you don't hit head think about how thick everything is until you get to the vitals? Velocity is more important than weight. Just my opinion though. Recently watched The Revenent and man. That would be one of the worst ways to go in the world. Got me thinking what would I want in case of that situation. I'm thinking chest rig with a Glock model 40 and 3 15 round mags of Underwood extreme penetrators and that's just my backup. Primary I would want a Ruger SFAR 16" in .308 with 5 20rd mags because it would be the lightest package to carry with the most firepower for something like that. Heck I mean a AR in 338 Lapua would be best but I can't afford one of those and that's really heavy to go hiking with. I don't have either of those yet but I'm gonna get both and see how they handle on a long hike.
Which best 10 mm handgun handle these with factory barrel ?!
They all should, a lot of people have said polygon rifling is bad for hardcasts but if they are properly lubed that shouldn't be an issue unless you fire hundreds of rounds. If you really want to shoot a lot of hardcasts get a traditional rifled barrel, not polygon like Glock.
@@NYPrepper thank you
Those ammo inc fmj are weak
Yea definitely not full power that's for sure, but still over 500 ft-lbs.
Wow, I m really loving these tests you do. I do alot of penetration tests but no channel. Where do you get those sheetmetal squares?
Metal supply stores or Lowes/Home Depot
10mm yummy.
if those 4 sheets were staked on top of each other, no gaps, would the results be the same? was thinking maybe 4 of these sheets in a back pack might help you out of a bad situation someday.
I wonder the same. I think stacking it would make it even easier to penetrate.
@@NYPrepper Also wonder if layered with some cloth or even a layer of silicone between them (dry) if that would absorb energy. I hear some armor is made with layers. In Medieval times I believe they put leather or something between layers.
perfect.
I Agree.
God bless thanks for watching
How many might it penetrate if the metal was in a rigid frame all the wat around? Does the fing of the plate use up excessive energy?
Does not matter
Did you see the Xtreme penetrator? He shot right at the bottom and right at the top and it made no difference
I honestly think most will work on about anything you can hunt
Hey You Should Do a Video Warning People About Squib Rounds Some One Out There Has Defective Ammo And Doesn't Know it 💯🙂
Thanks for reminding me, that is extremely important
@@NYPrepper I've Had a Squib Back in 2005 🤯🤣

Why do some people have kkm barrels for 10mm glocks?
For longer barrels and to use compensaters and suppressors. Also caliber changes. For instance a Glock model 22 or 35 will get you like over 6 guns. For instance if you buy a Glock model 35 you can get a KKM barrel for 357 sig and 9mm. You can also put a Glock model 22 slide on it and then do the same. 9mm barrel and 357 sig barrel. When you change calibers all you really need is the conversion barrel and a new magazine for that caliber. Its why when I buy Glocks I get them in .40 cal so I can have MANY different guns out of 1 frame.
I thought the hardcast would do better. Interesting
Bullet design and speed is everything for a test like this.
Love this test. I too thought that no support on the top of the sheet metal would make a difference but you proved me wrong. Why would you choose the Buffalo Bore for bears over the better penetrating Extreme penetrators?
Extreme penetrators don't penetrate in a straight line always and can tumble and don't penetrate through tissue as well.
@@NYPrepper thankyou for the response. In that case it will be Buffalo Bore or Underwood Hard Cast for me.
Bigger hole is better. HC penetrates fine. I live in Grizzly country and have no proof of what I'm talking about, yet...
10 mm more powerful then 357
This is almost worthless because the sheet metal deflect the projectiles and deflects each projectile differently.
Iam 3rd Here This Evening Everybody.
🤣😂🤣
You Crack Me Up Donald 🤣💯
great video
so which is best for bears then?
Buffalo Bore Hardcast or Xtreme Penetrator
