    It's great to hear you guys are planning to home educate and also your passion for unschooling! Our eldest would be in reception now (we are also in the UK) but I'm so so glad that we decided to home educate. I love that we can learn together through life and that our kids can dig deep with their interests and be free to explore their questions. It was really helpful to hear that there are books out there to read with your children about being home educated. Quite a few people have been asking my daughter questions about school and I think having some books to read with her about it will really help her know how to respond.

      I asked in a couple of local home Ed groups but as most of them de register I was met with resounding silence around the topic. Amazon was really helpful to help my research in to this area 🙌🏽

    So happy to have found your channel! Can’t wait to watch your other videos! U.K. Mama to one four year old and we recently made the decision to home Ed/unschool (still finding what works for us) have been feeling super overwhelmed today... even after listening to so many podcasts and reading books and CZcams videos etc... I just feel like I’m struggling to find the flow of our day, I’m 25 weeks pregnant so very tired and finding the days super long and I feel so much responsibility and pressure on my shoulders to not do my child a disservice having made this decision not to send her to school! I feel inspired after this video so thank you! Great to connect with people on a similar journey xxx

      I feel that so often! It’s the same as parenting...we think we have to be perfect or we will ruin everything 🤦🏽‍♀️ we’ve got this! 😍

    We love unschooling 🥰 been doing it for 6 years now & it works so well for my kids. This far in we’re really starting to see the long term benefits & it REALLY works. Well done for taking the plunge!Jo at Real Family Journey makes fab unschooling CZcams videos, if you want a British unschooling family x

      Hi Lydia
      I’d love to pick your brains on this matter, I’ve just deregistered my 11 year old and decided not to send him to high school. I’ve lots of questions. It great to see other people doing this.

    I love the idea of following your child’s interests and passions! My only real concern about homeschooling is the lack of socialising... schools are such an amazingly diverse place for children to interact with their peers, with teachers, etc. You can’t recreate that diversity at home. Also I’d be worried about the massive shock if/when they eventually go to a mainstream school.

    • @Aimeevlog
      @Aimeevlog  Před 3 lety +1

      That’s definitely a popular concern.
      The majority of experienced home ‘edders’ I’ve spoken too claim it’s not even slightly an issue when getting stuck in.
      They give examples of being out, being in their community, interacting with family and a wide range of available groups and opportunities. They all tell me that their children have busy calendars and socialise very often.

      @@Aimeevlog ok, thanks! What about re-integrating your children into formal education later on? Does it worry you that they might struggle too much? I agree with the principles of home ed, so my questions aren’t provocative, just genuinely interested in your views x

    • @Aimeevlog
      @Aimeevlog  Před 3 lety

      @@caterinas6863 you are coming across as inquisitive instead of provocative 🙏🏽 I imagine that would be a lot like children who never went to nursery starting school for the first time. They will be used to life as it is then will get used to something different. I would definitely be interested to hear opinions on this from people who have done it though

      @@Aimeevlog hi, my son was unschooled until the age of 9.(previously attended nursery, reception, but became stressed).I thought he might like to try school as he got older. It was a bit strange to begin with mainly because of silly rules, like using a ruler in math sums, only being able to go to the toilet at certain times etc. But for the big issues like keeping up with his peers educationally and fitting in socially there was no problem. He is actually ahead of his peers and as he isnt forced to go he gets on with his work sensibly and quietly because he wants to be there.
      As he isnt forced to go if he doesn't want to go for a couple of days then this causes problems with the school, but as I have explained to them, if he is forced to go he will lose interest and not care about his work and mess about in class, like alot of the other children.
      Schools need a big modernisation,

      The fact that you give him that flexibility and agency, even when attending school, is so brilliant!

    Is your partner forthcoming with plans for the kids or do you suggest things and he goes with it? You just seem the stronger of the two of you (as I am with my DH ). Will you be doing most of the teaching, researching, planning and guiding your hubby on this?

      I’m definitely the more passionate one. Especially when it comes to this I think because childcare has been my career for so long and my passion even before that. He’s definitely on board and is great at reading the kids, their interests and having a great time with them. Jay struggles sometimes to complete a task whilst the kids are in his face but as they get older and we both become more experienced parents...that definitely gets easier. He just goes outside to build things and the kids follow and help. That’s what I see their days being 💚

      With home ed, un schooling is where you dont do anything school work related 1 month per year of how many years they been in school. So if they been in 3 years thats 3 months of no school work.

      There is some lovely facebook groups about. And when the world is normal see if there any home ed, groups that meet up. They are really good, for kids to meet up with others and us parents to meet up with other home edders xxxx

      Hey Katherine, my take on unschooling is that we won’t be following a set curriculum or trying to recreate a school environment at home. Instead, learning will be child led. Whatever little man is interested in and passionate about we will explore. We will learn money and other mathematical concepts through living life and doing things practically. That’s the idea 😍
