    Best top hat technique on you tube! I made a snowman but the pattern has a beanie hat and I wanted a top hat for him instead. Thank you!

    I love this so much, now my favorite stuffed animals can have amazingly cute tophats! I did have some issues with the loop in the beginning and the loop to make the 9 rows but I kept rewatching it and eventually figured it out, loved it!

    Thank you. I know this may sound silly, but you just showed me how to make pot for Groot. I'll turn the brim down and tack it to the main body of hat. Thank you, thank you

    got a question for you, after you chained your 32 stitches chain, how did you connect it to your hat? you kept going with your single crochet stitches, and didn't show how you filled in that space from the hat to your chains? i followed you along till that part. i even safety pinned the chain to the hat and did as you showed, but now i got a space between the chain and no way of connecting it together.

    Love the hat - was wondering if I could use this to top a Christmas ornament that I want to make as a snowman and maybe use this top hat to place on top - would this be too big for an ornament? Many tks for yr help. Great job of describing your tutorial.

      @remixparodia1600 Před 3 lety

      Hi! If you use a thinner thread (and the hook would have to be smaller too), or do less stitches on the first row, it will be smaller. But maybe you'll have to change the pattern a little bit.

    Hi! Thanks for this but I just wanted to ask whether there might be a part missing or not mentioned between 8:44-8:46? How does the chain get attached to the circle?

    • @lizfaerie
      @lizfaerie  Před 7 lety +1

      The part of the tutorial between 7:24 and 8:44 is only for if you're making the broken version of the top hat that I made for my scarecrow doll. If you're making a regular top hat, that step should be skipped. I say this in the video between 7:24 and 8:44: "I've also made a 'broken' version of this hat for this scarecrow doll I made. To do that, instead of sc for a row in the back loops, I'm going to count the sts in my row. I already know I have 32 sts in my row. Then I'm going to ch the same amount as I have sts in the row. So I've finished my 32 ch. Next I'm going to sl st to the last st of my previous row, so that I have a circle the same width as the top of my hat. Then I'm going to do a row of sc into the loops of my ch. But if you're just making a regular hat, you should skip this step."

      @@lizfaerie I agree with Athena. I got lost after the chain. I had no clue what to do with chain. I ended up cutting it off at the end. (wasted time on that)

      So if we are making the top hat that we came to this video to watch.....we skip the chain 32 and single chain in that chain loop and just do single chain in back loop only?

      This question has already been answered in a previous comment thread: 'The part of the tutorial between 7:24 and 8:44 is only for if you're making the broken version of the top hat that I made for my scarecrow doll. Wow, you literally give me less than an hour to reply to your question (which was already answered in a previous comment by the way) then decide it's a problem with my tutorial rather than the fact that you didn't pay attention to the instructions. As I said in the tutorial, and to a person who was actually polite in their inquiry, "The part of the tutorial between 7:24 and 8:44 is only for if you're making the broken version of the top hat that I made for my scarecrow doll. If you're making a regular top hat, that step should be skipped. I say this in the video between 7:24 and 8:44: 'I've also made a 'broken' version of this hat for this scarecrow doll I made. Aggressively answered… why do people jump to the defensive, especially in a tutorial (?) we’re obviously here trying to learn something & not all direction connects to each student… getting frustrated or sassy isn’t the solution 🫤
