I was the lead artist on this game back in 1996-1997. Fun and stressful memories, but we were pretty proud of our first 3D platformer game. Fun fact, we had an inflatable Croc pool toy hanging from the ceiling that we would regularly punch/beat up on particularly difficult days. Good times. :)
Cool
That's actually kinda crazy. What was your favorite part of developing the game? Least favorite?
Cool
Wooooowwww ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for making this game from my childhood
How come every british CZcamsr I watch has a park right behind their house?
Because UKLand.
+Michelle Lehto
It's not as common as you would think.
partially coincidence, partially because here in Britian we have a lot of parks. (At least where I live.)
Everyone has a park
Michelle Lehto I have a park XD
I miss when Caddy's sister was in videos, she's hilarious.
She's got a channel
@@craigbang6542 what's her channel?
@@duckyducktm9197 professor juice
She works with ps access now
Haha. Yeah
The music is so incredible.
Fancy seeing you here! :D
The monty python references in this are phenomenal
rewatching this now and im suprised i missed them every time......
Lots of Beatles references in his videos, too. He almost looks like a young McCartney.
Is a white bunny a boss? Or miniboss on Croc?
(drums intensify)
That's one of my favourite Monty Python gags. The one where they just keep cutting to the same shot of someone running at the camera.
Love the Monty Python and The Holy Grail reference
+dethswurl117 Where sorry? I must've missed it.
+Richard Savings the very beginning. caddy's sis running towards him.
Right!? I nearly lost it when I saw that.
Right!? I nearly lost it when I saw that.
That was a Monty Python reference? xD
Who thinks this game deserves a remaster
I think spyro would be better and more likely.
Amen to that
JAK Hey, only 2 more series to go. Assuming you're talking about the ps1 non spinoff games, instead of the ps2 games that where from other developers (other than croc, who only had 2 games)
JAK Yeah, those are considered Spinoffs anyway, i was talking about the main series games specifically, but crash bash could be ok if they gave it to naughty dog and asked them to improve what was already there
croc did have a few handheld games
Games like this create childhoods. The only reason why we think it's perfect is because as a child you don't think logically about level design or plot or anything like that. Of course it's flawed, but I played this when I was 5. I didn't care lol.
K&AGamers me to and i was born in 2004 i play itto this day on an ps1 i have 12000 hours playing it
K&AGamers this is so true!
So in a nutshell nostalgia blindness?
@@bogdannikolic8282 Yeah, not sure about that one chief.
@Ryan Fanstone Huh? Every game is flawed. You learn to work around the flaws to have an enjoyable experience.

Just today, I walked into my school library. Some of the kids in there often talk about Skylanders, a game I obviously love to hate because I am a loyal Spyro fan. But even younger kids were emulating a game on their school-provided Macbooks. I looked to see what it was. I was happy to see it was a 5th gen game, I was excited to see it was a PS1 game, I was absolutely amazed to see it was a 3D Platformer, I almost dropped dead with excitement to find that the next generation would turn out alright after all.
They were playing Croc: Legend of the Gobbos and they were further into it than I have ever been able to get. In fact one of them had a screenshot as their wallpaper.
I played alot of Ratchet and Clank when i was younger, now my little brother plays it. Hurray! :D
wow i legit own this game and its sequel but even now i still emulate it today as the pc version sucks ass with controls
This is why most kids need to play older games, to understand why people like them more.
IamAnthonological That's why i make my 7 year old brother play and watch me play games from all generations, but mainly PS1 as it's THE BEST CONSOLE EVER!!!!!!!!.
Why are you watching random kids tho...
Y'know, you neeevvveeerr did talk about this movie...

EDIT: legeo racers intro is better in my opion.
I didn't even realise that, thanks for pointing it out!
SuperSirTarkins i was hoping that somebody noticed that
Croc is one of those game series that I will defend to the very end!!!!!
But why?
+Cody Hines I grew up with Croc while playing Spyro and Crash. I love all three. I grew up with both games and enjoyed them probably more than others.
JHopkinsmusic1
The only video game I remember playing on the playstation 1 was tomb raider 1 and 2 and Crash 3, but since I couldn't save on any of them, I never got that far. In tomb raider 1, the furthest I could get in one sitting was the area with the dinosaurz and I remember that taking like 7 or 8 hours.
+JHopkinsmusic1 that's Drawn to Life for me
Noot noot
respawning enemy? croc souls.
Lol why am I only watching this video now? Good lord Caddy stop making so many VIDEOS11!1 It's hard to keep up!
Why do I feel like I've played this? I never have, but it feels like I have.
Did I somehow dream it?
WHY IS THIS SO ODDLY FAMILIAR?!?
have you played mario 64 because this was released around the same time as mario 64
There was a Croc demo in one of those demo discs
And I believe croc was supposed to be a yoshi game at one point, but they scrapped it to make mario 64, and then turned the engine for that yoshi game into this mixed bag.
Skiles hi
Then they eventually did make a Yoshi game of their own, Yoshi's Story.
I discovered a glitch in this game on getting more than 6 Gobbos on the first level.
where your first Gobbo is sitting on the well (the one that Caddy calls a toilet) you can stomp the log/plug away, leaving the Gobbo floating there. Leave him. Jump up to the floating grass platforms above you, and use the sparkly bits to enter the bonus stage.
Upon being returned from the bonus stage, the 1st Gobbo left floating should have disappeared (hes actually in the well, you can hear him but not see him).
It counts as collecting him both when you jump down the well, and when you return, giving you a max of 7 Gobbos if you complete the rest of the level
Note: this will prevent the special island from appearing (which requires 6 gobbos from each level) so make sure you already have the jigsaw piece before trying this or you'll be unable to finish the final ending.
OH MY GOSH!! I know about that glitch, too!!
Actually, those questions you made about the intro are surprisingly explained in the game's instruction manual, you heard me right, the game's INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
Instruction manual? What's that?
+Wolf Skull555 its a magical book that got lost in time
+wafflesaurus I miss instruction booklets now we just have these boring pieces of paper with controls written on it.....
QuestFinder421 cri eff yoo lik errytim
+Nana-Kyoto The story requires the instruction manual to explain sufficiently?
as soon as I saw the girl running at 1:03 I thought ".... please let this be a Monty Python reference" and and sure enough, it was. Thank you Caddy for having such a fantastic sense of humor.

I think I might understand the role of Caddi's sister in these videos. She personifies the audience in either neediness to a game we been begging for a review on, or our attention to details that might hint later videos, or just sometimes our derp responses. Clever ^ ^
I suppose rescuing the gobbos was pointless...but I couldn't help it. It was fun to do, and c'mon, how am I supposed to leave the poor fucker there in a cage? I have slit throats in skyrim for some poor old woman's tea cups. I have murdered little sisters to grant myself massive power. I have committed more virtual war crimes than I can count. But I cannot bring myself to leave a gobbo to suffer. I really don't know why.
AND ALSO YOU BETTER DO A REVIEW OF MEDIEVIL GODDAMMIT YOU CAN'T JUST BRING THAT MUSIC OUT AND NOT FOLLOW THROUGH
JonjoCynic Oblivion is better so much of Morrowind (big point of all in Morrowind was no mission marks on map and there was no compas on down/up) and bigger of Skyrim.
Honestly, I still can't decide which one I like more out of oblivion and skyrim. I never got the opportunity to play morrowind. I liked, in particular, the stealth in skyrim a lot better than in oblivion. I was always terrible at it in oblivion. However, as much as skyrim's graphics are technically a lot better, I can't help but feel I like the enviroments more in oblivion, especially the cities. Plus, oblivion gets a big bonus in having one of my favourite expansion packs ever, the shivering isles.
JonjoCynic I played Morrowind and it was terrible. Why? Because it was too late before i bought Oblivion. I never heared for TES in my life, so i decided to dig past about TES because i was interested to see how all began. When i played Morrowind, i somehow felt it sucks. Combat missing hits and more enemies hit you then you them (imagine AI lagg. When you hit them you miss hits. It is like enemy is on other side and he hit you straight on your face and you cannot kill and damage more of his health!). Everything about music and quests is good, but it have lack of hiting enemies brought from previous TES parts. Also didnt haved compas which make games difficult to complete for beginners until you go on google to search for help. Oblivion fixed that. I didnt liked Skyrim for one reason (thats all, nothing else). They should let improving skills from previous without poping on middle "Level up!" which looks like copy paste from Fallout 3/New Vegas. Also some skills were removed (Acrobatic and some more, which was not added later and they stop making DLC's which they said will make but it was scraped after Dragonborn. Was supposed to be set on north of Hammerfell where is Orc territories) and 100 is descreased to 81-2.
Loving goin back an re-watching all these old videos
That sound the final "true" boss makes when he dies is fucking terrifying
I think I'd love that game. Besides, you play as a Crocodile!
Not as a SHAHHK
Angela Buechlein maybe there will be a remake
BUT WITH SHAAAAHKS
While first game isn't that much, I spent hours with PC version of Croc 2. It has most of flaws you mentioned removed, including walk key which helps in precise platforming segments.
Croc 2 is way worse
I purposely watched this because it was my birthday. Thanks Mr Caddicarus!
I always loved when I got all the crystals because it meant I got to go to that...beautiful secret world.
***** Ooh, mature. Saying that someone is a try-hard and isn't funny at all, stating that your opinion is fact and that people need to use their "fucking brain," then blocking everyone. It's one thing to state what you didn't like about it and give a bit of helpful criticization, but you were swearing, insulting him and his fanbase, and generally acting like a little kid.
No one's forcing you to watch Caddi's vids, mate. Don't act like it. You can go back to watching whoever you like watching- JonTron, PBG, Pewdiepie, Tobygames, AVGN, anyone. But don't insult people who put a lot of work into their videos because their sense of humor isn't up to par with yours.
***** "I am not like you afraid of saying what I feel like saying"? I'm saying everything I want to say, except "You're a fucking ignorant idiot."
You really can't handle the fact that people have different opinions on what's funny and what's not. And yes, it's _opinion_. If you think that something is bad, that's just an opinion, because hundreds of thousands of other people actually enjoy Caddicarus's videos and watch them often, like me. This is a comedy show. Yes, he does review games, but most of this is his opinion and joking around. Just because you don't agree with what he said about the game doesn't make you or Caddicarus wrong or right, because it's _opinion_, which is never wrong or right. And whether something is funny or not is just personal preference- a.k.a OPINION. If you think it's not funny, fine. Go somewhere else. But don't expect him to change just because you insulted him and his fans and said that he wasn't funny, because way, way, WAY more people think he's funny than people who think he's stupid.
I'm not saying I'm right, I never said I was right, unlike you, who thinks that your opinion is always fact. As you said before, "news flash kid the world doesn't work that way."
I am not shoved up this man's arse or in denial. I am simply a loyal fan. I wasn't hypnotized or anything into believing that Caddicarus was funny, I just came here on my own will after he was recommended to me several times. I enjoyed his videos, and I still do.
I really hope you're trolling. If you are, well played. If you aren't, you're pathetic.
HOW THE HECK DO YOU HAVE ONE VIDEO *AND* MORE SUBSCRIBERS THAN ME!?
Alex Pokropski MMMMAGIC! :D
Ze Medic Or maybe iz ze medizine >:)
Alex Pokropski Ja, I gave people "medicine" and my sub count went WAAAAAAAAY up. >:3 Muahahahahahahaha.... Hahahahaha! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHALOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOOOOOOOOOOOOL
15:56 - 16:06
That's how I feel about Sonic games in a nutshell. I'm totally aware of their flaws, but I don't care; I enjoy them anyway.
Love the Monty Python reference XD
I got that! I understood that reference!
Yeah, that one made me chuckle.
I watched your video over the second Croc game, and HAD to watch this one after you mentioned it. Such a nice nostalgia trip.
Easily one of Caddy`s greatest videos in my opinion.
this game needs a remake
Poke it should get the crash treatment
9:15 no real reward for finding them? but caddy, are the bonus levels not enough? it's about the adventure!
exactly, i was thrilled when i discovered them. What would be better then? longer cutscene? gimme a break:D
The beauty of your statement is that is the exact sentiment of the level designers XD the final world was meant to throw you back to all the levels you previously went through made much more difficult and in sections the creators felt were their best works.
Plus we must protect the Gobbos at all cost.
New Caddy = Epic
Old Caddy = Epic
Conclusion = EPIC
I know the feel. I have plenty of games I just love or want to love but... *flawed!*
Like Phoenix Wright?
Cody Hines
Never played those, actually.
Filthma
My mistake, I mistook your profile picture for the guy.
Cody Hines
Heheheh.
For me that's Bioshock 1 I love the game but it's very flawed (at least gameplay wise)
The way Croc picks up and carries that gem in the ending is the most adorable thing ever.
Perhaps you could review Croc 2 one day? It'd be interesting to see you compare the two and how well it serves as a sequel. And the soundtrack is just as amazing :D
and 2 years later. he fufiled that promise
Which promise?
+l33t agent oh the snivler movie.

SNIVEL I WILL DEMIST YOU
Watching this when you're drunk is awesome
Anyone who didn't play this during their childhood really missed something.
Wonderful, just bloody wonderful, Monty Python reference
The reason I watched this: Croc was one of my earliest memories. I barely remember anything and seeing this sparked a few memories :D thanks
LOVED this game as a kid, and I totally agree, sometimes it can be so frustrating but it's so bloody adorable you wanna keep playing lol!
...I seriously need to play this game again. It's been far too long. :
Loved the Monty Python reference.
when i was about 6, my father took me to a second hand game store for getting a good report card. (i owned a ps1 and nes) when we were there i saw croc and thought it was yoshis island being with croc somewhat looking like yoshi. ao we got it poped it in the disk drive and a world of epicness hit me right in the face. my dad and i were unabble to beat the first boss (I sucked at everything we owned gamewize) but it was one of the awesomest thing for me to play level one and two, over and over and over. this is my story. whats your croc'y story? reply and tell yours
croc was my first game in 3D I played it so much first day I got it that my head started to hurt:D
Caddy, your lovely sister makes some of these skits absolutely hilarious. Please do continue to produce quality high octane content mah boi.
Ah Croc. Played this alot when I was a kid. So watching your review Caddy, just brought back so many nostalgic memories. (And laughs too of course.) So thank you. Also I have this game both on PS1 & PC

That's okay. :)
Although I'm late on all Caddicarus' vids, I'm happy I can watch all of them without any delay since he has millions. One of my new fav channels filled with throwbacks like Croc. Love it.
There's no such thing as a flawless game.
i havent had any problems with tetris
Chrono Trigger.
Kate Hanton Cookie clicker honestly wasn't that flawed. Mostly because it didn't have many areas to be flawed in.
Perfect only exist in the eye of the beholder.

Looking forward to that movie review Caddy :)

this was such an amazing game. Remember playing this past midnight hours till my fingers became completely tendarized and red.
man I remember my ex showing me this back in 2013 and I thought it was so stupid and cringey to watch, but now look at me 6 years later and Im subbed and rewatching it
His sister is pretty cute, I gotta say.
the intro to this game sounds like an intro to an interview show!
i usually watch a lot of you tubers and they are always praised for being funny and sometimes in videos they do something that other people find hilarious but i just shrug, but with your videos oh my god iv only watched 3 and i can honestly say you make me laugh with every second thanks
Its 2019 and now im watching this for the first time after years of being subscribed... How did i miss this?
Croc 2 is so much better, make it happen Caddy
Whoa, whoa, whoa! There was a sequel to this game?! O_O
yep as and improved in nearly every way
Bailey Marston Except the gobbos, they look WORSE, WAY WORSE, GAHLI, THEY LOOK LIKE FUZZY SHIT!
I remember not liking the music as much, but the rest of croc 2 was tops.
Yep croc 2 was better
Croc 2!!!
I remember completing this when I was about 6. It was the best game I ever played hands down. So much nostalgia :)
Caddy I've had a really hard past two months and your videos are the only thing that has made me happy so thank you plus I hope I meet you one day
How have I only just discovered you? You're hilarious!!!
***** The salt is strong with this one, what a horrible fate for Caddy, one whole dislike and a not sub, whatever shall he do now? This channel is doomed...
I never said anything of the sort, I'm just saying that you were just a tad over the top and if that's what a brain does to a person, I'd rather stay mindless thank you very much.

You seem to be composed entirely of NaCl. Might want to see a doctor about that and/or reduce your sodium consumption.

My cousin had and played this game all of the time! She also never saved for some reason so we never got past the first few levels. Anyway, I thought since no gaming channel ever talks about it it must have been the most obscure thing ever, but thanks for doing a video on it cause its very nostalgic for me!
Caddicarus has gotten so much better at being funny, the difference in timing is super obvious between this and his current stuff
Awesome reference to the holy grale man! Great movie :D

PITTER PATTER PITTER PATTER PITTER PATTER PITTER PATTER PITTER PATTER!
Oh my god.
I forgot about this tame! I loved this as a kid. Man, I'm getting crazy memories about this.
Thanks for making me happy, I love this game though.
Croc was my first 3D platforming experience, and you are only the second CZcamsr I've followed that's talked about it. I can't even remember when I played it, but I did, and me and my twin brother managed to 100% it. With seven or even eight Gobbos in some stages because there were some mechanics that allowed you to have extra Gobbos.
Hey Caddy, did you ever play Earthworm jim 3D? There are no words which describe, how broken, dysfunctional, stupid and disreputable it is. I hope, that you'll review it someday:)
Yeah, I haven't even played Earthworm Jim 3D, and I already dislike it.
It's not too horrible. Yeah it's controls are annoying (like the barely responding jump), the puns suck, and the gameplay is confusing, but it's still pretty functional and is kind of fun to go in the different parts of his brain. It's not TOO bad.
GamesinaBit it destroyed the franchise and you say it's not too bad?
David Bonilla I never cared much for Earthworm Jim, so it doesn't matter much for me. I got it for 10 cents at a garage sale so yeah. From a non Earthworm Jim fan...I don't think it's so horrid.
well play atleast one earthworm jim game other then that horrid one.
Lol, I got kind of sentimental watching this video... Croc was also my childhood, it was actually my very first Playstation game!
Lovely honest review, keep up the good work
This is the first Caddicarus video I ever watched.
Still making me laugh today
Every time I hear the main Croc theme I get this tight knot in my chest. It reminds me of a time very, very long ago, the last time I still felt happy.
A true gamer would try and get 100% in any game, because I would not feel like I would have beaten it if I never got 100%... mind you I did shed a tear when the final credits came up, but I was so happy! lol ; D
You forgot to mention the special secret zones were you can get loads of hearts... they were always well hidden and at times you would lose more hearts trying to get to the Sparkly transport thing.
Saying only a true gamer aims for 100% completion is not a very true statement at all.
Irish Carmine Well I did say "try" and get a 100%...
"Aims for", "try for", that's basically the same thing
Not really because most games get incredibly tedious when you want to get 100%
Then you're a true completionist, which is a different type of gamer.
I'm still waiting for that 'Casper: A Spirited Beginning' Review.
Gotta love on the buses. Great video as always :)
in the middle of a multi hour caddy binge i love this old vids
12:01 That's a nice Crocodile... thing. It's my Team Fortress 2 spray.

We're fighting a Sneech, I guess?
THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD, MOVE.
I was searching the name of this game.
Love ya Caddy.(?)
That explanation as to why you love this game is pretty much 100% how I feel about Mass Effect Andromina, well said even back then.
3:07 Snivel I will demist you
holy shit i just spent one hour watching Caddicarus
***** Three of us actually
That's makes me watching caddy for about mabye 3 hours or so
10:00 Jesus Christ, that scream. If I 100% this game as a kid and heard this. I would've shit my pants and have nightmares.
the nostalgia is real i remember playing this with my sister when i was little
I remember this game, and I agree 100% with everything you stated, the game was good BUT had massive flaws which led to me getting frustrated with it. Also dat soundtrack.

+Isak Larsson I just like the word please don't hurt me!
LOL
What a throwback episode, also noticed in the intro skit that baby Caddy unintentionally (or intentionally) does the three 'What' trope from the David Tennant Doctor Who era.
This game was the first game I owned for the ps1, and the only game that my grandmother enjoyed playing as well. Some of my fondest memories are playing this game along with her and my brother.
