My son is 5 and between holidays, classroom parties for holidays and birthdays, his first years of sports, etc., he often says, “this is the best day of my life!” It always makes me so happy because I want him to have a million “best days of his life”. So, keep having the best days of your life! I feel the same in every European country I have been to also. 😊
Will always be room service coming to remake the beds, replace towels, empty bins etc they usually provide you with a sign you can pop on the door to say you won't need it or you're still snoozing (pop it on the night before). or they'll have a lock on the door you can use to make sure noone comes in :)
the sign was on the door, and there was no extra lock lol!

@@CarrieDaytonVlogsonce I accidentally kept my sign on Do Not Disturb for 48 hours and they came to do a wellness check on me lol. It could’ve been an accident such as that!
@@CarrieDaytonVlogsmy son works in housekeeping and says that the front desk are notoriously bad at letting housekeeping know when there are late checkouts etc. (In his hotel anyway )Lovely to see how much you are enjoying your trip.

Seeing your vlog made me appreciate how lucky I really am - so I put on my walking boots and took the dog out for an adventure. We went for coffee, antiquing, met sheep… all while very much sending you lots of good vibes!

The thing is, when making tea there’s not REALLY a way of ‘doing it right’… for example my mum and I have very different opinions on how to make a brew. Personally I am a 9 stirs and a good glug of milk person. My mum makes what I would call a ‘builder’s tea’, aka over-brewed and the tiniest amount of milk. I won’t let her make me a cup of tea and she says mine are ‘undrinkable’ lmao

So agreed.. and this how I make my chai.. boil the water for a cup, add one tsp of loose black tea, sugar and add full fat milk! Let it simmer for 2/3 mins and thn grate ur fresh ginger, boil another minute, thn add ur freshly pounded cardamom( a pinch) cover the pot for 30secs and ur done! Easy... Depends.. delicious.. hell yes! My husband uses tea bags but I cld never.. it just doesn't hit right.. 😅
All this needed was Drew knocking on the cottage door going "I need to take a leak!" and this would have been a remake of The Holiday!

I live in England and that cottage is crushing it! Btw the blue&white cups are genuine cornishware (like £25)
With washer-dryers you can only dry half a load at a time. If you wash a full load you have to take half out and dry it in 2 separate loads x
This is why dryers are useless in the UK, an everyone just line dries their clothes, lol.
@@watada We have normal ones too its just the combis that are like this. The combi is for space saving as we have small houses / kitchens. I personally hang my clothes inside and use a de-humidifier, its cheaper to run. I only use my combi dryer for things that are a pain to hang inside like sheets and towel when its wet outside and/or winter

You should look into the Yufuin Floral Village for next time you visit Japan (since I know you two also love Japan!), it is based off of the Cotswolds in England.. best of both worlds!

I think what was left unsaid was that since they had late check out, they were not expecting housekeeping to come until after they were gone. But I was a little confused, too--it doesn't seem like that big a deal. It's happened to me upwards of a billion times in hotels.
yes, but they don't come into our hotel room before we check out! lol
The best thing about holidaying 5000 miles away from where one lives and works is that the boss can`t call you and ask you to come into the Office on the grounds that a fellow worker has "phoned in `sick.`" At least, this was the case before working from home became fashionable here in England.
I never heard someone pronounce ‘Morrisons’ as ‘Waitrose’ before. 😂

My friend and I drove up to the Peak District from London. And I completely understand your fear of the roads! They’re so small, and everyone just buzzed around so quickly. But it looks so beautiful where you stayed. Definitely worth it to get away from the city for a while.

Once I was staying at a hotel and they somehow accidentally double sold my room and gave another guest the key to my room and they just walked in on me! Luckily I was fully dressed but that was freaky. Now I put that safety latch on all the time when I am in the room.

The room thing has happened to me in Vegas! Except it was at 4am and I SLEPT THROUGH IT. Ugh, my fiancé woke up and dealt with it, but it definitely left us raddled. Feel for you!

Were there no dead bolts on the door where you were staying? I always engage that as soon as I am in my room. But there are also a number of additional locks on Amazon you can use as a back up as well. So scary to have someone just walk in!

The combo dryer and washer really sucks. I would just wash and use the radiators to dry. learnt the hard way. You are probs back in USA by now, but a good tip for next time

We do have tea lol I think most Americans are just coffee drinkers… tea seems to be more of an old persons drink unless it’s boba milk tea as that has become popular here. And as for the kettle we have them but the stereotype Americans have received is that we just microwave our water, which if I’m feeling lazy I just might😂
