- My BMW M3 Competition is built and it's nearly time to take delivery! Join me for some exclusive access at the BMW Group Plant Munich to see my very own car head through the assembly process from paint to engine marriage and final completion.
Having placed the order last year for the Isle of Man Green M3 Competition; the auto RWD variant, with a Silverstone and Schwarz interior, the countdown to handover is now well and truly running. In the meantime, a few weeks ahead of delivery we can enjoy an awesome opportunity to see clips of my very car as it makes the way through the assembly plant.
Built in the city of Munich, by the Welt and Museum, the M3 Competition goes through the various stages that we can see throughout. From the initial body in white, to the paintwork and transformation to Isle of Man Green. It then arrives on the assembly line for everything to be installed including the dashboard and seats, as well as the moment of engine marriage where the body meets the powertrain. From there it's a case of things being finished up and the final prep before it will be ready to travel to the dealership for me to take delivery in the UK!

Did you make my X5? New front suspension arms, a new battery, corroding alloys, 2 new rear suspension airbags and a new suspension compressor on a 4 year old car with 48,000 miles..fell apart soon as the warranty was done. Massive disappointment and even worse was BMW’s attitude the the issues, never again.

@@martmeister I would have to assume that they have some serious ventilation systems that create a negative pressure downdraft inside the room. And it's clearly strong enough for them to be able to paint different colors only a few meters apart. Very very cool though.

Watching the production of these things really reminds you of the humongous amounts of engineering that goes into building a car. Because its not only the cars that need to be managed, but also the assembly line and all its processes

BMW said that 1 out of 5 people tolerate the grill. Even if that stat is true, why would you mass produce a car that 80% of people dislike lol.
@@thomasdoconnor my best guess is that the design team is headed by one of those artsy folks with scruffy hair and bad teeth and always wear a scarf and he pitched the design really well to the executives and they approved it

I work for Siemens. Had no idea we help "marry" so many great BMW cars with our automation. Color is amazing but briefly thought "Schmee has lost his mind" with those apparently lavender calipers". That was a relief so sure.

Well, there's usually some healthier options as well. There are a lot of Sub shops (for sandwiches) and other chains like Panera as well. You just have to know where to look, though it also obviously depends on where you are in the states.

Hate to say it I saw one in person for the first time a few days ago and parked my e92 next to it and thought to myself, “man my car looks kinda outdated”.
This has happened to many people including myself. The new series the more you watch it the more you like it. And then seeing it in person is still a whole other thing, compared to seeing it only in images or videos. The same thing happened to me when I went to pick up my new Series 4.
So many people are starting to realize it was just the massive change they weren't prepared for. The new M3 in particular is stunning in person

It really isn't even close as bad as people make it out to be. Sure it takes some time to get used to and you might prefer the old style better. But when you see this car in the showroom it just looks bad-ass. At least I think it does..

Just saw multiple new M4 competitions in my local bmw showroom... I absolutely love the look and especially in person, the grille really doesn’t look that bad! I’d argue it actually looks better than the old grill when you see it in person

That shade of green looks fantastic! As for fingerprints, I have a few black cars and not a single one of them ever gets fingerprints on them. Why? Because I simply don't touch the paint. When I close the doors from the outside, the only part of the car I touch is the door handles. Voilà... no fingerprints.
