      FeelTheLack They aren't against her, just the fact that the surgery is so or can be so dangerous is what they dislike. Also as you realize this is only done when you are a child because bone regeneration is faster then. Not all children can fully grasp the possible down sides of the surgery.

    • @ariannasilva4462
      @ariannasilva4462 Před 7 lety +46

      I can't judge her because her limps weren't proportionate to her. She couldn't brush her hair since her arms were too short. Again she has a rare form of dwarfism and was not proportionate. I can't judge her if I don't know her struggles.

    • @akeliawilson6672
      @akeliawilson6672 Před 7 lety +7

      +FeelTheLack the reason why they are against it is because the hearing community has an unhealthy obsession of saying speech is the only way to communicate sign language is a legitimate language why should they be forced to do something because of other people's ignorance. would you like someone telling you to learn luximburish when you speak fine German simply because they don't speak it but you can access things just fine. so don't judge people for wanting their children to realize they don't need to conform to another persons idea of normal when they are normal and there are entire communities with people just like them lots of deaf children want implants because they are teased or they don't think they are normal when they are plus what most hearing people don't realize is that the implants are expensive to get and maintain also they aren't 100% ensured to work and keep working lots of deaf people regret implants because they become a distraction and they don't filter noise very good also implant in children after a certain age is crazy talk since speech learning has a window that closes that why children raised by wild animals after a certain age can't learn language beyond a few words educate yourself before you make statements.

      J.R. Spingly ~ Why is her personality "shit" when she's changing her physical appearance? She's making a personal choice for herself and not causing harm to anyone else. People change their physical appearances all the time with hair, piercings, tattoos, plastic surgeries, etc. Someone's personality doesn't change because of changes to their physical appearance. A person's physical appearance often changes because of a person's personality and choice.

    Am I the only one who notices where on CZcams if somebody in a video has any sort of slight adnormalty then everyone says in the comments about how they think they're so pretty, but if the video has a person who's completely normal and happens to be pretty any comment about how she's pretty or whatever gets total backlash. I was shocked that so many people were talking about how they "honestly think she's pretty." She's literally a normal person who was born with short legs and arms and then got them lengthened.

      We need to be normalizing and accommodating for differently abled people in this society just as we accommodate for fully abled people instead of pushing things like children having unbelievingly painful risky surgeries as the only way to independence and quality of life. You're not just living your own choices when your choices ill affect your own community and send a strong message AGAINST what that community is saying, against what is RIGHT and FAIR. She said she wanted this for independence, she wanted to be able to do things like turn a light switch on...A LIGHT SWITCH. We can't create a society accessible to every level of ability?? We have to push THIS kind of thing instead? Which is less risky to a child, to anyone? THAT'S the point. She broke her legs several times in order to reach things when those things could've easily been brought down to her level, if only that was what we were willing to do for all humans.

    • @MissTear82
      @MissTear82 Před 6 lety +6

      EC A it wasn't only for a stupid light switch....that can easily be moved lower. There are plenty of little people that didn't go thru this surgery who are able to turn on the damn lights. Her main point was Independence and self reliance. With shorter limbs and average size torso, it would have made simple grooming tasks harder for her. Hygiene upkeep and what not. Like her mother said... they won't be there forever and she didn't want her daughter to rely on others. Even relying on parents, or other loved ones...it makes the person feel like they are a burden for those caring for them. If I were in her shoes, I would've made the same choice. I hate the feeling of having to rely on others.

    If you don't want to have the operation, don't have it. On the other hand, if you don't agree to have it, you shouldn't be forced to have it. Tiffany wanted to have the surgery and asked to keep going. The man should NOT have been forced by his parents to go under the knife when he clearly didn't want it done. It was HIS body!

      Actually she likely has pituitary dwarfism. Most people associate dwarfism with achondroplasia dwarfism (which is a mutation leading to the growth plates solidifying too early. This causes your limbs to be short, but other areas to be "normal height.")
      When someone is short but proportional you can rule out achondroplasia which only affects longitudinal growth of the limbs. However pituitary dwarfism is where the body doesn't make as much growth hormone as it should, causing all types of bone growth to be equally stunned. (Some people with this condition are even treated with growth hormone.)
      (Note: every heard of gigantism? Where and individual is 7 feet + tall? This is usually due to a tumor pressing against the pituitary gland causing it to secrete excess growth hormone.)

    I have one shorter leg and had this done twice. It's the worst thing imaginable. If things go wrong you're stuck with it or you remove the progress and retry it again. The pain is awful as just a given. My personal experience with it caused so many infections and I was on morphine for a year and failed first year certificate for it. It helped but it's the last resort for a lot of people. I applaud her for doing it going through the tears, the sleeplessness,
    the helplessness. As long as she's happy this end it was worth it.

      "I don't wish this on anyone but people like you deserve it as you['re] not understanding at all!" I don't need to say much about this sentence. Anyway, back to the point. You look at my comment from the view of someone having more than what she does. I'm looking at this video from my own view, of someone who has less than what she does now. From my world, she has more. From anyone's view that has less than her would see it as so. There are those that wishes for basic necessities, family that care enough to take them to doctor or even able to afford for it. There are simply those of us that couldn't even afford moments to glance in a mirror for moments of self-pity, because that was all the reality that those of us have ever known, and daring to have hoped for more simply never was an option. I do understand that from your view, I am the insensitive A-hole. I can only say, I see the world differently from how you have seen them, that itself breeds various angles and perspectives by itself. So your insult and your "none intended wishes of harm" was unnecessary, please stop proceeding that anyone see the world through your eyes. Anyway ^^, I bid you great weekends.

      at times, parents must make incredibly difficult medical decisions for their children...decisions that are too complex for a child with limited insight and limited life experiences to make. in this case, the young lady made her own decisions, but she made them with knowledge of what to expect and the risks, and her parents supported her in her choice. it is difficult to see your child suffer physically or emotionally. the process of limb extension is very painful, and even the most cooperative patient can act out negatively while undergoing the process of limb-lengthening ... to the point of sabotaging it at times, even though they initially wanted the procedure.

      M28tan couldn't that be avoided if she would accept herself for who she is. I have short people problems as well. I can't reach the faucet in the kitchen, can't see myself in the bathroom mirror, I have a stacked washer and dryer and I have to jump inside the washing machine to get anything that's not at the top and I can't reach the dryer. I've always been short and finally stopped growing when I was 10. Unless you have a terminal condition, I think that surgery is for gutless invertebrates who are too petrified to play the cards they are dealt. Being a dwarf who knows a lot more dwarves, we've learned how to adjust. Yes, we do have to do things differently than taller people, but we still get it done. Yes, they're things that I know for a fact I can't do, but they damn sure don't have anything to do with my height. I've always loved my height and never wished I was taller. I honestly don't understand the necessity of the surgery.

    I support whatever you do to make you happy but Jen Arnold is only 3 foot 2 inches and she's a Doctor and Married with 2 beautiful children. I think in this case the mother made her feel like she couldn't do these things without surgery which is just not true. As we've seen little people can do just about anything they put their mind to:)

Look at the way she glows when holding her son, look at that smile beaming with pride when she talks about her life and family! THAT is how all of us should live our lives ❤️❤️ she didn't let anything get in the way of her dreams and for that I admire her in the highest of regard. She is a hero 100%

    • @pickles3128
      @pickles3128 Před 7 lety

      Captain Picard Not at all. Shorter guys don't like taller women, generally speaking. Not sure if they feel like it undermines their masculinity some way, or if it's a purely sexual thing that they're just into shorter women. Go on a dating site like OKCupid. A lot of the men have a max height they would be interested in set at 5'6".

  • @u.t.bparanormalteam5218

    This is 1 Very brave and awsome lady and she should be praised for having the strength within to put herself through the pain because it's what she wanted if more people were like her and people were as brave and strong as she is then this world would stand a chance , well done beautiful lady for having the courage to live your dream I wish you many happy times to come you deserve it .

    • @MelancholyArmy
      @MelancholyArmy Před 7 lety +1

      I think its controversial since this surgery is performed on minors. So basically the parent is making the decision for them which like the guy in this video could result in problems for life. He had to grow up with worse consequences that were not even his own decision.

      that's a very simplistic view. you must be very young. height is NOT all that matters. clearly, it was important to her....but it's not all that mattered out of the surgery and not all that has mattered in her life.
