I bought a small set with scissor last year. I love my set. Visited the rep this year added one more knife. Met a lady who brought in medium size block with knives to upgrade to the largest wood block, so they add additional knives to her set with a larger wood block. I did not know that they did that until now. It's got me thinking. But I'm happy with my set. I have Zwilling and Mercer knives too, and they do need sharpening from time to time.

What is the Rockwell hardness of the 440 steel? My Wusthof knives have a 58 Rockwell I've never had them sharpened they hold their edge retention very well. My Miyabi Knives have a Rockwell hardness of 63 I've owned them for over 5 years and have never even used a honing steel on them. knives are not about the handle or the packaging it's about the blade steel, and I'm afraid the steel that Cutco uses just doesn't "cut It" for that price.

I own both Wusthof Icon and Cutco and their quality is equally impressive. The fact that Cutco has a better warranty gives them a slight advantage.

@@myknifeguy well I have a petite carver and was thinking about adding the trimmer to my set and wasn’t sure if the two were drastically different. Going off pictures form Cutcos website they look fairly similar main difference being the trimmer looks a little smaller. Just wondering your thoughts if I were to get a trimmer would I notice a big difference. Thanks.

@@tacomanick5657 they are both DD edge but most people prefer the trimmer.

@@myknifeguy Oh, and you can't sharpen that, yourself. Fuck your "right to repair" this particular product.

I like to buy a Costco knife less than you said price.

I always include something for free to make it a better value or I can match Costco pricing. Then you’ll have an official account with Cutco and a top career rep.

Are* Cutco knives too expensive? Get the title right. And yes, they are. Whimsical handles, mediocre steel. There are far better much better-priced knives out there.
