What a beauty. Your pleco collection is just incredible. Thank you for sharing them with us.
I've never been much of a pleco person but they are starting to grow on me. This little one looks so cute!
Get one and youll be hooked =)
Ditto, I might have to try getting a pleco sometime myself!
If you like the little ones Hypoptopoma sp. 'Peru' or also under the common name robocop pleco stays really small and has beautiful markings! Their hardy and really easy to get feeding.
Bob, it is stunning. I can see why you had it on your bucket list
Gorgeous Plecos. I have a tank with 8 L397’s. They grow much faster than Hypans, and also much more messy. I have to clean the HOB prefilter every 2-3 days. Good taste in plecos Bob. 👍
Awesome congrats! We have 2 - baby L397’s and we love them!
I never been into plecos but you are changing my mind thank you for sharing
Way to go, bro. That's a lovely way to git 'er done in this brand new year.
Little cutie isn't he. Thanks Bob. Congratulations on your purchase.
Congrats! Getting a "bucket list" fish is the best.
Ah the trials of dealing with the shy talent. Gratz on the new check mark.
Very very fancy Bob! Well done on checking something off your list. 🐠👍

Awesome Pleco bro I haven't seen them before, congrats on your pickup!! I really the look of these & of course that they don't get huge lol. Love my rope fish too!! Got three a few weeks ago they are my first ropes & I'm really, really digging em. I have a juvenile Ornate Bichir & Delhezi Bichir that are about 4.5-5" now & I'm going to put them with my rope fish in a 125g I have in my garage I gotta setup.
Nice, sounds like a sweet setup
I had it too but very shy. Rarely saw them
Right on!🤘🤘🤘
At last buddy! Congratulations.

At last :D
I feel like I need one of those!
i agree =) perfect for a discus tank =)
Ha! L-Ropefish. Yera funny guy, Bob!
Wow that price! In Norway we get it for 25-30 dollar.
I want to hear more about the 40 Breeder pleco tank.
Nice
Gotta love trying to film plecos I finally started putting them in my breeder box before dropping them in quarantine so I can film them
Ive done that a few times lol
@@SteenfottAquatics had to do that on my L134s because... Well because there L134 lol
I'm personally not a big fan of the appearance of the L397 but I'm happy for you, man! I find it rather fitting to use the term "bucket list" when talking about fish you really want, since buckets are such an integral part of the fishkeeping hobby, haha.
Nice bro......
cool 👍
Boom hell yes
Anyone know at what size L397 will start breeding? Cheers
Nice! $80 is normal now. It was ~$125-$150 last year when they first started showing up in US.
I first saw them around 2015, not for sale though =( Hopefully they continue to come down.
Niiiiccceeee!!!!
Hey congrats man awesome pleco. I like then your channel actually has fish on it anymore lol
Sorry misspelled because of cataract, I meant When not then lol
L264 🔥🔥🔥
The one redeeming factor about plecos hiding all the time is that when you do see them, you can really notice their growth. Keeping it positive LOL.
That's true lol
$80 not bad I found them to be $150 in NH not sure what size
I just accidentally bought one of these guys. By accident I mean that I intended to use a gift card but…a oops happened lol. Anyways, I’m cycling a 75g that will be mostly spider wood, driftwood and even a branch I found outside that a bug ate on and made some cool designs on (prepped the wood of course) and a tree knee I found in the swamp that has a cool cave like hole (also prepped)…I was wondering, is this fish ok in a new tank or should I let it grow for a bit in one of my smaller but established tanks? This guy cost a nice shinny penny and I want to make sure everything is right for his/her arrival.
What is with all the L number in catfish or is it just a pleco thing ?
The L stands for the scientific name Loricariidae. The numbers are used for identification in the hobby. Since some species have multiple common names in the hobby.
If I may critique what Bob said the L# is giving to a “new pleco” before it has been scientifically described, it can refer to a collection point of the fish and sometimes refers to the age of the fish. That sometimes can get confusing seeing that sometimes the same species can have multiple L#s and LDA#s
The L is a reference to the family loricariidae. The scientific name is is a 2 part name to identify the genus and the species. So in this case the pleco has not been scientifically described so at this point would be referenced as panaqolus sp. l397 when the pleco has been scientifically described the L# “should” stop being used. But seeing that the l#s are easier to remember they stick even after they have been described. Hopefully that helps and Bob now you need to pick up a l306
Hey, how does L397 works with plants? Does he eats them a lot? Im thinking about buying some, but my tank is planted, and I dont really want to choose between plecos and plants.
I had Panaqolus spp. with plants and they were no issue, their not really herbivores so wont go for them. I find most Loricariidae wont eat aquarium plants although some can easily dig them up.
can you talk about fish for a non heated aquarium? Other then goldfish.
I managed to find someone who raises them, 6 L397 babies are now in my tank! Wish me luck. Did you end up getting more of these guys?
I did end up with around 7 of them but have since gotten rid of them like an idiot.
Wow...80 dollars? These cost about 15 in The Netherlands as a baby. Fish prices can be a bit crazy in the US.
The L-ropefish is amazing what’s it’s common name lol good stuff
haha =)
ahhhhhhhhhh he's gorgeous! where did you find that guy?? tell me your secrets!
Just ordered through my LFS :)
Pleco in a cup ❤️
haha yup
Cool fish...are thise place caves made out of wood?
Ok, well auto correct doesn't know a Pleco cave or how to spell " those", anyway cool fish
Nope, not made out of wood :)
Where did you find it???
My LFS was able to order it for me.
ok cool, nice
Lovely species but the mess is insane from any Panaqolus, I refuse to buy anymore as I have two Panaqolus albivermis and Panaqolus maccus and the wood residues clog up my filters easily. Their technically not wood eaters, studies prove that they actually assimilate the bacteria which decays the wood making them more of a biofilm eater, the same goes for Panaque and most likely Hypostomus of the Cochliodon group. They don't have the gut bacteria nor physiology to break down cellulose. Although wood allows them to perform their natural behaviour so it's more then beneficial to have, I like the dull looking bogwood as it seems to grow bacteria well.
L-ropefish 😂😂😂
😆 glad someone found it funny lol
Is the L-ropefish on the CARES list?
L-ropefish LOL
that thing is sexy awesome addition to your collection
The pleco is not bad either...........
its the hat that does it
Gorgeous pleco
