But here's the question:
You are theorizing that right after the world "Longing", Bucky becomes incapable of rational thought and acts solely on impulse, right?
Then why don't we see this in the opening scene? I mean, he looks more shocked rather than furious whenever the process starts.
And if he is incapable of rational thought, then why would he be able to talk and try to break himself out of the cage? I mean, if he became just a mindless berserk, wouldn't he just trash around in blind rage?
Personally, I have always thought that this whole Activation Process is more like a code. Meaning, unless all the parts of it are "entered", it doesn't take effect.

My reasoning for that scene, is that Bucky has had many such experiences where he was brainwashed and forced to kill people on Hydra's behalf. Considering that he remembers the people he's killed, as we can see when he admits to knowing that he killed Tony's parents, he has to have some sort of PTSD when those words are said. He wouldn't have the presence of mind to close his ears at that point.

Things wrong with Civil War:
The airport scene only happens because Rogers breaks established character and decides to not tell Tony what's going on but instead rather punch friends and strangers at an airport.
Ant-Man joins the fight knowing it will make him a criminal again and he could be locked up away from his daughter even though his solo movie was supposed to be about his redemption from that to begin with.
Zemo's plan requires no Avenger to defend the actions of the previous movies, especially the invasion in NY that 1. SHIELD put the team together and sent them on this mission. 2 The government tried to nuke the city which of course the Avengers stopped.
Thunderbolt Ross caused the destruction in Harlem in the Incredible Hulk.
Zemo got the information on the Winter Soldier from the SHIELD and Hydra leaks that Black Widow did at the end of Winter Soldier, so Bucky killing Tony's parents was already public knowledge and if you wanna dig further. Tony hacked into the heli-carrier in Avengers 1 but found no signs of Hydra or his parents death.
Black Widow fights against the government at the end of Winter Soldier but in Civil War she sides with it.
Rogers gets a boner for Agent Sharon Carter during Peggy's funeral.
Then later.. kisses her?
Winter Soldier was in a completely different location at the time of the Union bombing and everyone knows this.. because he is spotted somewhere else.
The final fight between Cap, bucky and Tony only happens based on Zemo knowing Tony would rebel against the very accords he was willing to fight all his friends and strangers at an airport for and show up to aid Bucky and Cap.
For a movie about superhero destruction both sides of the argument sure did want to destroy everything in that airport.
Bucky somehow killed the Starks on a highway containing the only security camera on a road in the early 90s in HD.
Tony was willing to put a high school kid in danger.
Tony and Pepper are broken up off screen just so we can have a Tony flirting with Aunt May scene.
The plot of the movie was the accords but are dropped anytime action needs to happen and by the climax are forgotten when Tony both ignores Thunderbolt Ross' call and reads Rogers' letter pretty much hinting he already forgave Cap and the fight meant nothing.
War Machine is the only injured and yet is already walking again before the movie is over.

Saint Pablo no he started to and Tony interrupted. Clearly Rogers felt it was more important to fight rather than tell the truth. Instead had Ant-Man strike a kid. So many moments they all had time to make jokes but not once try to convince Tony. In BvS it's one thing but in Civil War these are supposed to be friends yet never act like it.

no, zemos plan is not dependent on none of the avengers defending their actions, (not) bucky destroyed and killed a building full of people their gonna have to go after him no matter what. but zemo is betting on if rodgers defends and fights for bucky.

Britan Brown In Winter Soldier it literally tells you that Black Widow leaked all their information online. Yes to the public. "it's trending on twitter" she says.
Sharon and Rogers had a pre-established romantic interest? he asked her out. she said no. he finds out she's an agent and then he doesn't even look at her and addresses her as "neighbor" over a year has passed. He is crying at Peggy's funeral and finds out she is related to Peggy then has interest in her again. They have never had a conversation. War Machine is walking before the bruises on Tony's face are even healed.

Vision guards the New Avengers Facility, did people think they would keep Falcon on guard after what happened in Ant-Man? I mean come on just watch the movies and it will be very hard to come up with a negative.

Stark had no intent on hurting/killing Cap in the final fight. Note the containment devices he used on Steve and how he tried to just fly past him to get Bucky.
Bucky, even from the first word is brainwashed, but isn't capable of receiving orders until the chant is complete.
Defending Civil War is easy.
The shadowy group of the world council weren't all hydra agents. They approved the nuke. I think the government is apart of that. The government simply isn't trustworthy. The chant thing with Bucky sounds like an excuse. Have a very great day everyone!

Dagenspear Gideon Malick was the head of the World Security Council, and a head of hydra, all he had to do was simply tell one of his hydra agents to launch the nuke into the city.
The Bucky thing isn't an excuse, real hypnotism happens right from the first word, not the very end.
Movie and Game reviews If that were true and Gideon did without the authorization of the world council, then he would've been regarded as a terrorist and locked up. But that isn't what happened. He was still seen as a trusted mentor to Rosalind. As far as the movies and tv series showed, that didn't happen. I don't think of Bucky's conditioning as hypnotism. Thinking about it now, I think hypnotism or the idea of trigger words as used in CW is inconsistent with TWS's showcase of memory erasing as a way of continued controlling of him. Nah, with Ultron they got it wrong too. They forgot a very important plot point that was mentioned a few times. Ultron was trying to get at the nuclear codes, and probably more things (including those mentioned in the Ultron HISHE, i.e. Veronica and the quinjet), but there was "a hacker" who was faster than Ultron that kept blocking him at every attempt to get at the nuclear codes. Tony found the "hacker" when he went to Oslo, and it was J.A.R.V.I.S. who they then turned into The Vision. This was a HUGE plot point, I don't understand how HISHE missed this.

Ok yes Civil War had a few conveniently timed scenes and character entrances but so does every other movie you can think of. BvS cannot be compared to Civil War considering all of the things that went wrong with the plot and the characters and their influences.

one thing I hate is when someone says "you don't understand a movie" but I honestly don't think you understand BVS. you seem to have a biased towards marvel MOVIES vs dc MOVIES. I would wish to see you respond to fair point toward why BVS is good. don't have to like it but understand that the "plot holes" are non existent. The Martha scene was horribly written and executed. It's not about "misinterpreting" or "misunderstanding" what the scene was trying to convey. We get it. It was just done super awkwardly (and the editing in the theatrical release didn't help either).

Cinema Sins won't have a problem with Civil War. Not because it's a bad movie, but because they'll nitpick anything. The Winter Soldier has a 20 minute long Cinema Sins, and most of it is bullshit they would know if they paid attention.
For example, they asked "How does Captain America suddenly speak French." I guess they missed the part in Captain America TFA where the black howling commando knew French. It was actually a plot point. Cap could have easily learned from him.

The villain wasn't the main focus of the movie. He was there simply to start the fight betwen the heroes. And they weren't fighting over nothing. Team Cap was fighting for freedom, and Team Iron Man was fighting for control. The events of previous movies build Civil War. Do you think Tony Stark would agree with the Sokovia accords if he didn't create Ultron, and felt guilty for the thousands of lives lost because of Ultron? It was more emotional and personal then the other movies, because you know all the characters and what they've been through. Anyway, that's my opinion, and i respect yours if you don't agree with me.

MCU always has weak villains (aside from Loki). That's their biggest problem, actually. But I enjoyed this villain because he was just a regular man with a vendetta rather than another cliché super robot.
