I worked in Faslane (Scottish Sub base) during the Kursk incident I remember, I think it was the first anniversary of the accident, maybe 2nd, that Russian families were given a tour of the usually restricted base, our Vanguard class subs, etc One moment really stuck out to me. Perhaps in my naivety, I kinda assumed the families had wanted to do this but I genuinely couldn’t fathom why. At one point there was a woman crying on a chair. She was so far back from the tour, at first it didn’t click who she was. I kinda assumed she was one of the press who were there. Until she spoke She muttered something in Russian and said ‘how would you feel?’ I apologised for not understanding what she meant. She explained that her husband had died on the sub and that the families were ‘urged’ (I took this to mean more than asked) to come here and ‘understand’ our submarines - they were to report back what they saw. I remember her next line so well ‘We who have lost have to come to you after you left our men to die’ The Russians had been very liberal with their excuses. As I’m sure most of you will remember, Britain, France, the US and a few Scandinavian nations all offered to help after hearing the Russian sailors knocking on the sub in morse code (…--… SOS) but they were told on no uncertain terms that getting involved would be seen as an act of aggression. This really hit me. I had, for whatever reason, just thought that government controlled media had died with the USSR I suppose it makes sense it doesn’t just ‘go away’. I tried to explain this. At first, she said that’s exactly what I would say. I was about to try again before an officer came back to get the woman back on track along with an ‘interpreter’ (state supplied, of course) That was the day it sunk in that changing the name of a country doesn’t automatically shift its ideology. I suppose that makes sense really, but when you’re so far removed from the fact, and only hearing bit in the news, you don’t think of the nuances of a situation

I mean, I read that Poland wants to bring troops into Ukraine. What will happen when Russia attacks polish forces in Ukraine, won't that start a war vs NATO?
My family moved to Israel for economic reasons back in the 90s from Ukraine but my grandparents have been watching the Russian TV ever since, at this point it's so rooted into them the TV not only twisted their minds to turn against their own home but also created a bubble to them so that at this point they refuse to believe the truth they find on the internet saying that it's fake. I don't understand how face is saved by saying that the Russian sailors were so inept that they caused or allowed a fire to sink their flagship. Blaming them for an enemy attack is an insult to those sailors.
@@tannerhuxtable6118 The Russians never directly blamed their own sailor. That would be stupid even for the them. But by denying that the fire and explosion was NOT caused by Ukrainian missiles, It's implied that the crew is incompetent because modern warships don't just catch on fire and explode.

I'm watching it now for several months. All they do there, is showing their people that western countries are struggling with sanctions and other things. It's more like showing their people, that they are not the only one who got a tough life. Russia knows pretty well that they can't win the war. They might win battles, they might will stop this war and Donbas as well as Crimea will be sovereign, but they will never be respected in the rest of the world. They know pretty well, that their Soviet 2.0 isolated life has just began. There is no back for western politics or companies to such regime. The problem is; all their entire west Russian economy is based on trades with Europe. There is a reason why so many high educated people left Russia. They know, it will not return in the next 5 years (at least), maybe even in the time of their life. My cousin is from St.Petersburg and she is on her way to Armenia, because she is afraid that her boyfriend have to join army when they stay there longer. One year ago, these people would never think of moving to Armenia or Georgia. Her mom and my mom are kids from Soviet Union, blind from propaganda and don't realize that their blind trust to Putin's administration causing all this, their kids have to suffer.
I remember the story of Belarusian protestor, whose legs were brutally broken by police. On TV they showed it was self-injury and he made it himself to accuse police. After the few months, sometimes watching TV and exploring their media, this guys wasn’t sure if this was made by police and maybe he is guilty.
Kudos to you for not attributing that to Mark Twain. Many people do, but there's no evidence he ever actually said it. Although I'm sure he would have wished he had.
considering that the Ukrainians hit a second ship a day or two ago, it there gonna be another "accident"? Will anyone start wondering why ships conducting special operations near Ukraine spontaneously catch fire sometimes?
I have operated power boats and sailboats on reservoirs, rivers, lakes (not the same as reservoirs), seas, and the open ocean. I have been through storms (gales, tropical storms, hurricanes, etc.) while onboard. I can tell you sincerely, and without doubt or reservation, the Moscva did NOT sink in a storm. Look at the video - use your own eyes and THINK!! Do you see high winds whipping the water into froth and spray? Do you see wind-rows being formed on the water's surface? Do you see swells and waves topping 15 - 20 feet in height (let alone 2 - 3 feet)? No, the Moscva did NOT sink in a storm due to her damage. She was hit with missiles, she suffered intense, significant, crippling damage, and while the Russian Navy was towing her to another port for salvage (a really bad idea to begin with), she sank because the damage was so severe. Most likely, the Russian Navy KNEW she would sink, so they towed her out into very deep water where her damage would be unseen and invisible for years to come. Bottom line - the Ukrainians sank the Moscva with an extremely well-timed and well-aimed missile attack.
From the Ukrainian side, our guys were using a drone (or two, I can’t remember exactly), and this apparently distracted the Moskva defences so much that when the missiles went in, the ship couldn’t defend. They launched them just as a warning and didn’t expect to do any actual sinking. Imagine the shock and amazement 🫢
From what I read the younger ones who are able to leave are doing so. In that regard any chance of change will have to be made from outside Russia. I know I cannot believe everything I read however but I believe the most educated knows exactly what’s going on and therefore are looking for a brighter future for their young families.
Navies have been dealing with onboard fires on ships for 300 years. Imagine the level of incompetence Russia is admitting to in this story of the Moskva.
As a USN vet, I know what you say is true. But considering how often places in Russia seem to spontaneously combust, I imagine most Russians would just shrug and mutter some platitude if told that one of their ships had burst into flames and sank.
The U.S.S Liberty, U.S.S. Stark and the U.S.S. Cole were smaller ships which were farther from base than the Russian ships, hit by anti ship missiles or attacked by a suicide boat that had explosives and they all made it back to base and even the U.S. The Russians can't do anything about a ship failure a couple of hundred miles or less from its base.
@@orlock20 What you say is amazing! I agree it makes no sense but that is Russia. Its really weird, they could succeed in the Anglo-American economic system based on the rule of law, "democratic" elections, and private property, but for some reason they reject it even if it shows to provide more prosperity to their population. 'The Admiral Makarov, and the missile cruiser Moskva, have been reclassified as submersible warships and are currently undergoing sea trials with their full crews aboard; everything is going according to plan.' - Vladimir Putin
We ought to consider what happens in the minds of the Russian viewers when the message goes from 'there was a fire on the ship" to "we are going to retaliate against the Ukrainians for the sinking of the ship". That kind of discontinuity is certainly not lost on many people, but the reality of the situation constrains their behavior to a large degree. It is risky and of limited utility for Russian citizens to question the party line, so it is understandable that so many go along. What good would it do for them to stick their neck out anyway? But it is hard to believe there is not a large chunk of the population that knows they are being lied to.
The Russian people should NOT be blamed. When a leader takes control slowly and insidiously, the frog being boiled by slowly increasing the temperature, no one can predict or control the person boiling. It is not the frog's fault and has little to absolutely nothing to do with the frog. It is the person increasing the temperature. Of course, Russian citizens can't stick out their necks. I can't agree with you more. I try to watch all the networks and draw my own conclusion. It's refreshing to hear how other countries report. Abe Lincoln once said, "You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people, all of the time." A true servant of the people. RT and Fox News, Newsmax, OAN, QANON and other Putin inspired propaganda mills do all tend to say the same things and they also make my stomach churn when I watch them.
Same here, I watch all these channels and more, to get an overview what different countries are saying, and try to form an opinion incorporating many different views. Russia is just not telling the same story as the rest of the world. - The world meaning all those countries that have the freedom for individuals to express their own views, and not countries where they are told by the state what their view is.

From the clip - that's about as calm as it ever gets.
She looks like an inherently unstable vessel anyway.

They couldn't let the crew, or ship reach port...
Haha! The kettle calling the pot black. Does anyone believe they get a word of truth from MSM?
Couldn't tell the difference when they switched to Russian. Thought I was still watching CNN.
50 hours??? Journalists are really the extremely difficult job ,,, I think 😱
Before my country turned into a fascist hell, I once watched 6 hours of North Korean TV. It's fun if you know what to expect. It's like a marathon of bad movies.
Yeah like getting killed covering the Russian massacre in Ukraine. Sounds pretty cushy.
@@vexilongrum8319 LOL, it's the same thing in the US with Fox, newsmax, and Aon.
But how about Chinese, N Koreans watching and listening to their govts generation and generation?
What journalist?
After watching 50 hours of tv in Russia, China and N.Korea you will need a brain transplant..
Hahahaha
Yes why would he be surprised at all?
നല്ല വിവരണം...🙏
The relatives of the Russian soldiers should realize that with every tank that get destroyed 3 young guys get burned alive and die a horrible death. Maybe that will change the mind of some mothers.
it's a sacrifice worth making if it brings democracy to Ukrainians
Not necessarily, Russian population is experiencing collective psychosis at the moment. A large portion is convinced that Ukraine is full of nazis, and that their sons are fighting good cause. They say that Ukraine is part of Russia and that they are simply returning their land. Some even say - why not throw nuke at Lviv, it doesn’t deserve to exist, clear all Ukrainians etc…it’s impossible to convince them otherwise even with the strongest facts. It is very very scary.
@@mr.horrorchild4094i but first some1 should explain what is democracy to Russia
Mr.Horrorchild, I suspect that many Russian mothers are smart enough to know that bringing democracy to Ukrainians isn't Putin's objective.
@@AntonioParisella Unfortunately with Russia I think we need to start with the Enlightenment
Can you imagine people watching Faux News only for 5 straight years?
I like how you can easily spot someone that's been brainwashed by their use of "Faux News"!
Yes. I moved to Oklahoma 3 years ago and have seen the Faux News effect on people. It replaced the ra
tional way of thought and has built a
following of fear and hatrd.
Ah, typical CNN Zombie, as in, totally delusional, complete dolt, and always on the wrong side of truth. 🤣😂🤣
Even accounting for warmongers, Rupert Murdoch may be the person who has done the most damage to society and human relations in history.
Dude whatch Russian TV for 50 hours:😐
Also Russians that watch TV for 22 years:🗿
lol that guy looked shell shocked after watching 50 hours
Wow, 25 seconds into this video and all I can think of, is how similar this sounds to Trump's tactics.
