- In today's video, we show how the AM-GM (arithmetic mean- geometric mean) inequality in 2 variables can be proven by just using diagrams. No knowledge beyond that of simple geometry is required to understand the proof.
This crossover between algebra (inequalities) and geometry is particularly nice, and shows us that it sometimes pay to think in a more visual manner.
Diagrams are taken from 'Proofs Without Words- Exercises in Visual Thinking' by Roger Nelson of Mathematical Association of America.
thank you!
Thank you
Thank you sir
Amazing
Thanks, and glad you have enjoyed it :)
Thanks..
You are welcome :)
0:18 Why do you say "greater" when it's in fact "greater or equal"?
Yes, you are right, it should have been greater and equal, with equality if a=b. Thanks for pointing it out!
