Ewha Womans University is a private women's university in Seoul founded in 1886 by Mary F. Scranton under Emperor Gojong. It is the first founded university in South Korea. It is currently the world's largest female educational institute and one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea.
Ewha Womans University traces its roots back to Mary F. Scranton's Ewha Haktang mission school for girls, which opened with one student on May 31, 1886. The name Ewha, which means “Pear Blossoms”, was bestowed by the Emperor Gojong the following year. The image of the pear blossom is incorporated in the school's logo.
The school began providing college courses in 1910, and professional courses for women in 1925. The high school section, now known as Ewha Girls' High School (not to be confused with the coeducational Ewha Womans University High School, the university's demonstration school, founded in 1958), separated from the college section and is currently located in Jung-gu, Seoul. Both institutions share the same motto and the "pear blossoms" image in their logos.
Immediately following liberation of Korea on August 15, 1945, the college received government permission to become a university. It was the first South Korean university to be officially organized.

My mom attended Ehwa over 60 years ago before immigrating to the U.S . She passed away in 2003 and I miss her dearly but I get a sense of closeness whenever I get a chance to visit Ehwa. Thanks for showing this.

Your videos make me both happy and sad. I love watching the videos you've done of places I visited and made good memories. This is the neighborhood I lived in when I stayed in Seoul and I miss it so much. I remember seeing things under construction or on their opening day and it's so cool to see how it is now. Hi! Ewha Womans University Park looks so futuristic and scratches the clouds of the last plane, beautifully complete the image. If I saw a flying saucer here, I wouldn't be so surprised. Seoul seems in celebration and its streets are ready to receive endless crowds of tourists. But so, without tourists, the streets seem romantic places for lovers and groups of friends or colleagues. By far the sunset is again the most wonderful natural spectacle. Thank you for walking! Be happy! 💜

신촌 번화가 12~13년 전에 번화가 다닐 때는 엄청 지저분했던 기억이 나는 데 코로나때문인지는 몰라도 많이 깨끗해졌네요 요즘 서울시도 환경미관에 신경쓰고 있는 것 같아 좋아요

I was there earlier this year to study abroad. It took me a while to realize wherein Sinchon you were at but then I realized you were across from Yonsei ( 23:21 specifically Yonsei Hospital). We would always walk down to the front gate of Yonsei to get to Sinchon's main road. Thank you so much for filming this. Can you film walking through Myeongdong? We would often go there too.

Back in 2006/07 the area around Ehwa and Yonsei universities was much better. There were a ton more mom and pop shops and stores to get good food. Additionally, a motel stay for the night cost around 30,000 to 40,000 WON. When I last went there, prices shot up to 60,000 to 80,000 WON. I know inflation and property prices are behind it, but it is still kinda cool to visit. Thank you for showing the video:)
