The 1948-1965 Panhead is one of the best motorcycles ever made! It leaked a lot less than the Knucklehead it replaced plus it was stronger. Not quite as fast as the Shovelhead that replaced it but it was much simpler and prettier. Very reliable and very forgiving if you put it together wrong or abused it. I own a 1958 and still ride it daily and still take it on long out of town trips. My 1997 Dyna is smoother and stops better than my old Pan but doesn't have nearly the class. PANHEADS FOREVER! I still have my Dad's 49 Panhead chopper, has 1,270 miles on the total rebuild. My Dad had an OLD SCHOOL harley dealer build it to run cross country, it doesn't go under 35 mph in 1st gear, but has virtually NO top end. The old man did several tricks to it, pretty sure the main tricks was changing the teeth ratio on the engine compensating sprocket. It's a real bitch to try and slow it down with drum front/rear, I've LITERALLY STOOD on the brakes and she just try's to HOP down the road when I was TRYING to stall it! Lol
I Remember in 1959 My Neighbor's Were Hard Core Old School Harley Dresser Riders... Big Seat For Two - Leather Fringe Bags - Long Chrome Pipes and Captain's Hat... 💥💥🇺🇸💥💥 Something You Never Forget!
Wow that there brought back some great memories , I've sold many bikes in my day not that I wanted to but kids had to eat and live ,now I can kick back and enjoy the wind theropy iv missed over the yes... stay warm stay strong ,an stay in your fukin lane...God bless American iron
My grandpa had a 57 pan shovel. He traded it for a basket case 76 sportster and a running 84 superglide. Built and sold the sportster to my uncle and had that superglide for the better part of the late 80s. Sold it in 91 because he didn’t have a place to keep it anymore. Then the price of everything skyrocketed and he hasn’t had a bike since
one of the few bikes made that will do a 10 hour burn,if your ass will endure it,the pan is a marvel,im shovel all the way but hold a soft spot for the panhead, ever since my uncle took me home at 3 in the morning, hanging off his tank,i was 5 years old the bike was made in 56,man could he ride, nothing could touch the sound, the power of that thing,it was brand new, like me,memories, harley Davidson memories
strattuner wife and I rode 2 up to California from Pennsylvania 2016 ! The Ducati had 185.000 miles WHEN WE LEFT , to get her home for work 😄 so we would ONLY have 500 miles on Sunday, we rode 800 miles Saturday! We were much more beat than the Ducati. 😎😎🍺🍺
Art,i've rode state to state since 1969,graduated that year, bought a FL hog, rode to California by way of texas,by the time I left it was snowing, couldn't handle any more snow,so I went to cali by south route,800 miles is a long haul,no wonder you and the little lady were beat, respect
Excellent music for a proper tribute to the unforgettable Panhead HD. What a fine song: Baby Blue by Badfinger from 1972, one of my favorite love ballads. Very Nice!
The problem is because of collectors and people who pay the outrageous amounts of money for these bikes the average guy can only drool over these bikes because they are only dreams to them because the price is way out of their price range it’s too bad this society has been turned into this greed driven way
Harley, never ever start has never changed anything but the price. POP, Misssss, bang smoke, SNAP, Oil leak, tighten bolts as you go slow, ride with pride, set on side of road with shame. {Harley Prue Junk} Go Ahead, Buy One, try to sale it, become a Harley salesman & become one of millions of other trying to sale there Pride ride.
What, Sir, is your first language? Obviously not English. Get out of Mom's basement and keep your s**t opinions to yourself. I've been riding Harleys for 51 years, still am riding. As an old, fully tattooed, ex club member, this fingers' for you, bud.

Because he's an asshole, that's why.

You miss the whole point, and looks like you missed most of primary school, as well.
To expensive bikes today. Thats why Harley soon only is a memory.
