Hey John, really glad you're showing castles on OIJ, they don't seem to get much CZcams attention (for some reason?!). Just letting you know, there are actually 12 "original" castles remaining in Japan i.e. those that still have their original tenshu (main keep) intact. The "12 national treasures" you mentioned is in reference to Kochi castle being one of those 12 - and Shikoku actually has 4 of those 12 original castles. It's quite a treat for Samurai history lovers to travel around the island and check them all out (as I've done).

Great videos. I cant get enough of them. Bucket list is going to Japan. I work a Japanese company! I cant wait to make a trip and go! I also love the food videos and the vending machine videos.

Himeji Castle had those same narrow and steep staircases. I went in the springtime and there were lines throughout the entire castle. Took over an hour to get to the top and down. Thanks for the video as it brought back great memories.

Thanks for the Kochi Castle tour! I've been to Kochi but only had time to see it from City level. I've been to Matsuyama Castle a couple times when visiting in-laws and really enjoy the chair lift to the castle. The view of the city below is fantastic and recommend a visit there when in Matsuyama.

I love to visit castles so thank you for sharing Kochi Castle with us. I've climbed to the top of Himeji Castle and the walk from the station coupled with those steep stairs were challenging. My thigh and calf muscles were screaming for mercy the following day!

Great castle. We’ve visited Osaka, Himeji, Imabari, Kumamoto (only around), Gujo Hachiman, Kanazawa. We wanted to go up to Iwakuni jo but we could hardly see it from the bottom because of the rain so next time. The views from the castles are amazing.

I love these old castles. Watch the old coconut and the rafters. I bet those ladders they call stairs were made to keep small people from using them. Yes please more CASTLES! Great job.

In the mid-80s I had the pleasure of visiting Ôsaka castle. I remember climbing the steep and narrow stairs there; they winded me, too. LOL when you said, “Danger, Will Robinson.”
