    • @Zinfidel1
      @Zinfidel1 Před 3 lety +3

      Honestly, the Earthquaker Devices Afterneath module is a better option for modular enthusiasts. Strymon is using the same 'experimental reverberator" line that Earthquaker did in marketing materials and after listening to these demos I would consider them similar enough. 4 inputs with attenuverters is a much better option than an on-board sequencer and LFO. And it's cheaper. But that's just my opinion.

    • @Attacus3
      @Attacus3 Před 3 lety

      @@Zinfidel1 Magneto is stereo, but otherwise i'd agree

    • @Zinfidel1
      @Zinfidel1 Před 3 lety

      @@Attacus3 Sure, though a little different from the space-y reverb wash Nightsky and Afterneath are aiming for. I'm a fan of Afterneath's explosion of delay lines: it can do reverbs or sound granular delay-like or somewhere between. It'll even self-oscillate into a usable oscillator which can be used with a V/O input. Damn it's fun. But they all have character. Afterneath and Magneto are definitely worth getting for synths.
      And Afterneath doesn't have stereo (it has "pseudo-stereo" but stereo is possible with the right tools in your rack.

    • @breakalime
      @breakalime Před 3 lety

      While I agree that this pedal, with its implantation of envelope generators, low frequency oscillators and pitch sequencing, does embody some common attributes of modular synthesis, it’s apparent lack of voltage control means that it’s not all that compatible with a eurorack system other than as an end-of-chain effect. Many modular users will already own dedicated envelope generators, LFOs and sequencers, meaning a module such as the Earthquaker Afterneath, or indeed Make Noise Echophon/Mimeophon/Erbe Verb for example, would arguably be more competitive in terms of form factor and how easily they can be integrated into an existing modular system. Stereo is also a relatively recent phenomenon in the eurorack format, so not necessarily a compelling reason to invest in this unit.

      pourspelang I agree. And lots of my comment is me. I'm just not that creative with electronics to want to tweak that many things to create a sound. I get crazy option paralysis. I'm the kind of guy that would rather stack two more simple pedals than use the Night Sky. I'm very jealous of the "shoe gazers" out there than excel with these but I'd rather just play than know turn. I love my Walrus Fathom. I don't have a Slo but I feel stacked with it I could do a vast majority of this minus the sequencer and much more simply. But I also like good quality sounds that compliment the guitar but not overtake it. This Night Sky is it's own instrument. Very very cool. Just not something I'm dying to have.

    There is literally nothing here that a Zoia or Poly Digit can’t do and they both can do more for less money. Main reason for getting the strymon is it has direct control of parameters using knobs as oppose to a grid system or touchscreen, which is a good thing for some people.

      Easy to tweak with the toes...that’s why I play barefoot.

    • @michaelbreach5862
      @michaelbreach5862 Před 3 lety

      I was thinking that too. I had a Zoia and got into it a bit but I just don’t have the time for all of that programming and the touchscreen was so small it really hurt my eyes

      Nice try with the BS... Zoia and Polyeffects can't emulate the NightSky... Talking crap...

      @peterjessop1878 Před 3 lety

      @@ShaighJosephson yes it can if you know how. Will it sound exactly the same? No, but functionality will be the same. It might even be better. No BS

    Would it kill them to throw in a reverse and drippy spring reverb just so I wouldn't need another pedal if I bought this?

    better than the blackhole twin peaks music beautiful effects dreamlike for song writing or playing with out a band or backing track worth it I almost bought the blackhole this trumps the blackhole sounds like a few effects more than reverb

    • @ShaighJosephson
      @ShaighJosephson Před 3 lety

      The Black Hole pedal totally sucks, IMO... Better to get it in the Space pedal with all their other reverb algorythms...
