    Really good simple video showing the basics. I’ve just brought one of these and watched your film before opening the box. Very helpful. Thanks, from the UK.

      Let me know if you have questions. I have used a lot more since the video and used it on some nasty ponds.

    Thanks for the video! Would this be suitable to also remove sand or would that clog the whole thing?

    • @aquamanknox
      @aquamanknox  Před 2 lety

      It should remove fine sand. I have not tried it. Sand will normally be hard on the pump. I am referring to th discharge pump that drains the unit. it dies handle waste and fined dirt through it pretty well.

    Do you like this one better then matala

    • @aquamanknox
      @aquamanknox  Před 3 lety

      I owned the Matala and it was like the original lowest level Oase. It did not last but one season. Oase Pondvac 5 is a lot better built and more professional. It is of course more than the matala. If you do not have the budget for the Oase 5, I would get the lower Oase models.

    How heavy is that empty????

    • @aquamanknox
      @aquamanknox  Před 3 lety

      It is not light. I am glad it has the wheels. It has a heavy duty pump in the bottom of it and turns on to drain it.

    Just bought the Pondovac 5 and must give it a thumbs down, 1 star. From your video you can see my issues: 1) the Storz C connectors on hose not found at DIY stores so can't add hose for longer travel, 2) very low flow rate, 3) wands can separate with use as just pushed together, 4) must clean out bag and pump tank after each use, 5) water stays in pump tank making unit heavy/hard to move especially over uneven area. Will say it is easy to use the cleaning attachments. I would recommend buying a solids handling pump like a pond pump with standard couplings on an appropriate length hose for your yard. I'd try using pvc pipe for the wand. Hope this helps others.

      I am sorry you had issues with the unit. From what I see there is no perfect solution but the Pondovac 5 is the bets of them. If you wait and a pond gets really bad it overwhelms all the units. But with regular use the vac is easy to use but you do have to clean it. Are you sure you got a model 5? Mine has a pump that empties the unit as in the video. Thank You for the comments please follow my channel.

      @@aquamanknox Thanks for your reply. It is the 5. Since the return policy where we bought the unit makes it rather expensive to return (planned no doubt) we will try to use it with our small 1000 gallon pond, and keep using our older Pondmonstr for our 4000 gallon pond. Really think a solids handling pump would be a much better investment ( a setup like the pool service guys use.)

      I agree with you, I bought a OASE Pondovac and it pretty much sucks. Actually, that's the wrong verb in that it doesn't suck very well. From my experiences and other internet videos I found that the home made pond vacuum versions work better than the retail versions so I'm now in the process of making my own.

      I agree. These are not worth the money. The suction is insufficient to be an effective pond vacuum.

      The 4 model has been very ineffective and we've looked at the model 5 as an option instead. I appreciate the comments below about ineffective suction still being a problem.
