well its more like if tommy looses he wont get another fight and if Jake looses he will continue to fight big events. There are already deals done with that. he signed a two fight contract with Nate if i recall correctly one boxing one MMA. the loss will only hurt Tommy!!! This is a bad choice for tommy cause if he lost to a regular joe in boxing he would continue on this will stop him or slow his career down to a snail pace.
Jake says a lot of stuff that’s not true or just gets facts wrong..I’ve noticed this a lot. Tommy didn’t look at John in shock when John said yes.. Tommy just looked at his dad and listened and then said yes seconds later.
Talks more sense about boxing than tommy the boxer. Not sure tommy realises how serious jake is about boxing. Over the last year jake has dedicated his life to boxing watch this space young enough and talented enough to defo reach top 5 rankings. Honestly I think this conference shook him up a bit.
On the other hand, Tommy actually came out of it looking genuinely very comfortable, positive and confident - more than ever before.
I think Tommy needed to size him up a bit and when Jake flinched when he slightly raised his hand, that gave Tommy a big boost in confidence when he experienced it for himself, that in his own words Jake "is new to this".

I don't like Jake's "deal" ideas. For example there are many who have moral opposition to the act of gambling. Furthermore,and more significantly, both parties in this bout are prize fighters which by definition shows that the fight has to have some gain for any parties involved. Prize fighting isn't about a winner taking all but is though about the fighting participants making some earnings for its display for a passive public. Tommy's father took the bet out of traditional conditioning of traveling community beating bouts but those bouts are so private that the public only get to see it when it eventually leaks onto the internet years later and the prize money reward to the victor only generated by the private investment of the funding parties and not as part of a commercial enterprise. I think Jake would be a big man if he could allow Tommy his purse win or lose. It's stupid to bet your purse just to prove confidence when any serious boxer today or from the past knew the purse is the bread of the participants. Loss and victory is in the outcome of the bout. Money isn't up for discussion. Just think about how many fight negotiations fell apart because of pay out. I believe Tommy wins this but I don't care if he keeps Jake's end of the deal or not. Jake ought not keep anything from Tommy though especially knowing Tommy has a family now and especially when fighter pay is supposedly Jake's political agenda in the sport
