A walkland!! Loved this one. You have each other! That’s what counts the most of all!
Jack Hargreaves......"How"..& "Out of town".... trip down memory lane 👍
It is a crazy world nowadays. Never in my life would I have imagined life as it is now.
I don't think any of us saw this coming
What a lovely couple. Nice home made hat Fran
Very pretty hat. We love your everyday life on the boat too. Cooking and crafting. So please keep posting
Thank you! Will do!
Oh we remember Jack Hargreaves and “ out of town” in fact we bought the DVDs a couple of years ago. When we were newly weds we used to watch it on tv. Lovely slow, gentle episodes.
Ha Ha, we have just seen a Jack Hargreaves out of town LP in an Oxfam record shop !
I hope u 2 and the dogs are doing ok and keep safe u 2 are my favourite youtubers so keep it up and when u smile makes me smile
Aah, thank you xx
Brilliant guys stay warm and stay safe 😁👍👏👏👏
When you whittle, protect your other thumb by cutting the thumb off an old leather/suede work glove , it works a treat & keeps your thumb protected.
Look really cold but the land scape looks so good all white. Stay safe and lucky.
It was good to have proper January weather for a while and it does look beautiful
Beautiful! Glad you are doing well! Love your new hat! Well done!
The theme music for "Out of Town" was so evocative of the English countryside.
We're all singing it now!
You can watch some of the episodes of "Out of Town" on CZcams
Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and healthy!
Admiring your bob hat Fran 👍
I see you started 3 years ago. Well I'm catching up. Leaving a thumbs up as I go along. So thats 115 thumbs up so far.
Wow, you are doing so well. Thank you xx
Hi, Just watched episode 71 and have to Congratulate you both on your wedding. All the best from Laurel & I from Downunder. Keith
Love the hat, Fran! Good to see your upbeat attitude and humour!
Thank you x
Always great videos from you two. Fran. You looked very smart in your hat.
I’m 79 and remember Jack Hargreaves as if it were yesterday. Lovely man.
I didn’t realize you could boat all year round. Keep boating love all your vlogs. Almost caught up to present day, been binge watching from the beginning, only took about a week
Wow, that is amazing. Thank you for watching xx
Thank you again for taking us along on your walk. If you're up to, take us into the shops. In any case, even a short vlog to let us know you are ok would be appreciated. Stay well.
Will do!
This was made around the time I went into hospital with Covid in January. I had Covid pneumonia and clots on my lungs. I was not expected to survive the first night. However, thank God, here I am in June, recovering and back on my feet and driving again. Still a long way to go though. One of the things that brightened up my time recovering was watching you two lovely people on your narrow boat. I watch you every day. It has been really enjoyable. I’ve even converted the wife, lol. I know we’ll probably never meet, (I’m over in Larne, Northern Ireland) but I feel as if I know you so well. I’ve travelled through parts of England that I never heard of and enjoyed the lovely scenery with you both. I wish there was a canal network over here. Take care both of you and keep the vlogs coming. Hill.
Hello Hill
Your message was hidden in a review folder within CZcams. So sorry we did not reply sooner.
Great to know you are slowly on the mend and that the stuff we put out helps you along.
Keep watching and keep commenting lots of love Fran and Rich.
Hi, Keith from Oz. Still watching your great videos, but only up to Episode 30 so still have a long way to go to catch up and enjoying every one. I should be at this episode I reckon in about a month so by then there will be 4 more after this one to watch. You’ve got yourselves a nice tan over that summer and both looking great (apart from Rich’s knee episode). Love watching your ventures, even got the wife to watch now as well. All the best cruising. Take care from fans downunder. Keith
What?!?! That intro could have been a remake of the Dr. Zhivago winter scenes in Siberia. Brrrrr! Happy winter cruising.
That's just how it felt!
HOW!!!!....Jack Hargreaves (with his pipe), Fred Dinenage & Bunty James (had to Google her name)....I remember it well :)
HOW!!!!
I certainly can remember it, just hit 60Bloody4 today.
I fancied Bunty and the one from Magpie!!!
Glad you managed to record another video before the shut down. It’s so interesting how people get used to the weather where they live and what others find freezing you find warm!
We grew up in Surrey but now live on the Canadian prairies. In winter here it can be 35 below. This winter hasn’t been what we call cold. This morning I went out in the fleece jacket I put on this morning and my slippers to “pick up” after the dogs. It was 5 below but that warm for us so I didn’t bother with a coat or boots. So there you are all bundled up in layers and gloves and it’s above zero! Love the hat by the way. We used to make those pom poms all the time.
Looking forward to seeing the new boat. As you say - it is what it is and no amount of complaining is going to help.
We're just a load of softies over here. You should now that coming from Surrey. x
Doggy is worried the boat will leave without him haha
Lovely vlog 👍💕
Such a beautiful video. Thank you. In the beginning it looked so still, quiet and a bit lonely
It feels a bit like that when the snow has settled and there's nobody about
Just watching the vlog. HOW with Jack Hargraves. Remember it well. It was my dads fishing boat that they used for sea fishing. Jack lived in the new forest.
Nice to see you both again
Loved your walk, you're such a cute couple, keep up the video's.
Thank you xx
Can't wait until you have a green and pleasant land and you can raise a glass of champagne to Debbie and Mark at another cookout when she is well. Take care you two.
Cheers to that x
Out of town was a Friday night must watch always enjoyed watching he was often showcasing tools we couldn’t afford but enjoyed meeting him on the all England fishing competition and my dad won through to the competition held on sky for him a trip of a lifetime. Hope lockdown is not to gruelling for you looks like you landed on your feet with the place your in. All the best :)
He always came across as a lovely man it must have been great to meet him
We also had SNOW here in Austin, TX--substantial snow, which is a RARE event for us! Lots of young children had never seen the stuff. Many snowmen and snowball fights. My little dog was non-plussed.
Aah, dogs are so funny when they first see snow
Beautiful snowy scenery ! Y'all are looking great stay safe and warm . Keep up the good work really enjoy the videos .
Thank you! Will do!
We have an unknown fellow, that hikes into the Sierra Nevada mountains to find old stumps of the giant Redwoods (some can be 15' across), and carves very large Wizards, gnomes, fairy folk, and assorted fantasy creatures in relief. It is not only a little astonishing to come across one of these gems, as they are not cataloged nor mapped, but offers a wonderful mirth to the scenery. Being Redwood trees that can withstand rot and insects, these carvings will last for many decades. Perhaps Rich can leave a few canal-side carvings scattered among the towpaths :)
That sounds wonderful. I'll get Rich right on it x
So good to see you guys smiling,...
It is what it is u say,,,
👍
Looking forward to ur creative wood carving
And the funky hats !!
Love ya both
Keep ya vids coming
There a pleasure to watch
👍👍👍
Thanks 👍

Hi Fran & Rich, what awesome footage from the drone with the narrowboat on the canal and the paddocks and snow. Great vlog thx. Love from downunder 💗💙🙋♀️🙋♀️
Thank you, glad you liked it x
Glad to see that you're doing well and out but sorry to hear the lockdown is continuing. The Numptiness .... has to end Rich.😀😀 you're depriving us of our long awaited fix or update. God be with you in the days ahead and take care. Oh and it's 27 F here in SE Michigan.
I'm watching and I noticed I'm smiling the whole time!! The wonderful scenery, silly dogs, cant be beat!! Stay safe!!!
That is lovely. Thank you xx
Lovely stuff. Stay safe. Hunkered down here in Silver Spring MD, USA, just outside of Washington DC (Covid restrictions and Inauguration security are keeping me out of Downtown DC). Nice to see some snow and winter weather - gets me out of my own world for a bit. Cheers.
Love your videos even if its just out for a walk.
Thank you
Love your vlogs. I look forward to them xx
Yay! Thank you!
Looking forward to your walks, post one every day! Better than channels that do only English walks.
One a day is a lot of work, but we will share some
Hey guys nice to see you guys stay safe and healthy...👍🙏❤️☮️🇺🇸
Thanks, you too!
I remember Jack Hargreaves, we lived in that neck of the woods as well, Southern Television! Enjoy as best you can and hope for light at the end of the tunnel.
The visuals in this video were put together so nice. The opening sequence was beautiful. I noticed Fran's hat right away. Very pretty! Stay safe.
Thank you Theresa but not as good as yours x
Snow-Way! Keep warm both off you's. Life's a funny thing at the mo? But you both are helping me through :-) Xx
So glad!
Wish Debbie well. Miss them both
Will do
Hi there you two fab people. fran you are special and rich is a fine gent making fran her own neat walking stick remember jackanory the kids used to watch it. Long ago, good to hear boat is still coming along for you. Graet drone footage to see the snow makes the country look so different lived in devon in the 60s lots of snow there on the moors great places to walk. Hope this year brings you lots of good times for you stay healthy and happy love you two XXX Ed 40 s of Vegas.
Aah, jackanory, that's a blast from the padt
Keep safe and healthy!
Always look forward to your next video Stay safe
hahaha....till i cut my thumb off .. i also loved HOW with jack Hargreaves .. and Fred something ..and others...all the best for this year..
Stay safe from Canada xx 🇨🇦
Stunning drone footage at the beginning of the vlog.
Miss the cold and snow for Christmas... stay safe in the lockdown, looking forward to seeing your walking expeditions 🙃😊
Thanks 👍
Lovely to see the snow. Glad that you had a good New Year. It was nice to see you with Mark and Debbie. Hope lockdown isn’t too boring. It sounds like you’ve loads of hobbies though. Take care. Nick
Thank you. Our biggest problem is still finding time for all the hobbies. Just as well we no longer have our allotments
i am soo delighted to see you! The world, the poor world is torn between two extremes and the only way through is to have peace in heart and mind and stay in a state of contemplation or prayer-awareness... I loved the footage in the very first part of your video! A warm hug from here to there :-)
Thank you x
Hi ... I am the chap that recognised you both as you were walking near the footbridge to Marbury park one day. Northwich woodlands comprises lots of small woods mingled into one large area. You were actually in Dairy House meadows where I saw you. Richard was correct in saying Marbury Park is over the footbridge. I volunteer at Marbury and Anderton parks assisting the Ranger. Unfortunately due to repeated Lockdowns the Parks are suffering from being very busy and Cheshire West Council have ceased all volunteer services so we can't keep on top of things . I am not a Boater myself just find your channel very relaxing. All the Best Hugh
Hi Hugh. Thank you for saying hello. You do a wonderful job with these parks. What a lovely place for us to be locked down. We are really enjoying the parks and the walks and enjoy getting lost in them. Thank you for all you do
Love the intro shots really show the beauty of the English countryside in the Winter. A bit harsh with the cold but the snow makes it nice. Nice to see you smiling OK.
Nice to see the fuel boats still going
They are great and carry on all weathers
Great vlog. It’s exciting to see the boat coming along. Ok fit out is starting next month can’t wait exciting times. Stay safe and we look forward to the upcoming vlogs. Regards Steve Maxine & Mexi x
Let's hope we are all cruising soon. Good luck with your boat
You are a breath of fresh air, unlike a particular Mr narrowboater who is moan, moan - some people should count their blessings. I remember Jack Hargreaves! x
Thank you. We do always try to see the good side of things and we have a lot to be grateful for.
Yes a beautiful prelude into your video and nice work on the hat & walking stick. With the recent lockdowns in the UK I think Rich will be getting a lot of use out of the carving set, a very well thought out gift. I have to admit I am a bit jealous, even though it must be hard being locked down on your boat, your not really. You can up and move your home if you need a change of scenery or privacy.
It would be nice to move about, but we can still only move as far as the services then back to a quiet mooring spot
Hello, so nice to see you both again plus the doggies of course. I follow Mark and Debs, so I have seen their vlog of your meet up. You all looked so relaxed it was lovely. Wishing you a healthier, safer, and wonderful 2021. Hugs xx
It was a lovely evening. Let's hope we can do more of that very very soon
Really feel sorry for everyone in UK. We're presently coming up to 2 weeks of lockdown here in Brisbane and the thought of7weeks is terrible. Loved the video. Dogs are excited to be out and about.
We just really hope it isn't extended beyond that. Patience is wearing thin now.
Good to see you back, although I did see you at Mark and Debbie's social distanced tow path cook out .So happy New Year I love your walks you make things so interesting.. We haven't last got some snow ,10 inches last week end, not that cold yet days - 2/4c nights to -10cMy advice for cold weather Thermal underwear cotton twill shirts, woolen sweater Down filled parka woolen socks ,insulated boots or Mukluks Mitts not gloves unless you're driving, Thinsulate driving gloves are good. Studded snow tires and AWD
Take care stay active ,good luck with your lock down we are under much the same conditions.
Cheers from Canada
Thank you Ralph. I'm sure you all could teach us a thing or two about cold weather. We do most of those things already, except of course the snow tires 😂
Lovely mooring spot! Having hobbies has never felt more important. Your crochet hat is terrific, Fran! Keep your spirits up, and thank you for sharing a bit of your lives with us. xo
Thank you! You too! You also seem to be keeping extra busy. The weaving is lovely
Hello from Ohio. We are not covered in snow at the moment. But they say it is coming. We were 25 F this morning. Love you both. Keep up the great videos. Happy and Healthy New Year.
Brrrrhh!. Keep warm
Ah, the guitar music to Out Of Town was Memories of the Alhambra by Francisco Tarrega. Gorgeous.
Well done. We looked up Out Of Town on CZcams and I said to Fran I thought it was Albenez. Thanks for clearing that up it would've drove me nuts. 🙄
@@FloatingOurBoat I’ve had it as an ear worm all day!!!!
Lovely to see you both love the crochet hat keep safe see you both soon
Love watching ur vlogs kp them come & kp urself safe and healthy look forward to the next one xx
Hang in there .... Nothing is forever....
I remember HOW very well.... A teaspoon of vinegar to stop hiccups, works for me every time, good old Jack Hargreaves.
Great area to be for some nice walkland woods or even woodland walks🤪
You’re as bad as me with missing footage, my trick is forgetting to hit the record button🤣 Always a joy to spend time with you pair and look forward to next time when things calm down. ❤️
We are definitely up for some walkland wooding with you both. Tee Hee !
By the way, how's the fridge?
@@FloatingOurBoat hammer 🔨, saw 🪚 and screwdriver 🪛 and it’s in 😂🤣
morning , just been watching your video it sure looks cold there. Here in Oz its a scorching morning! but I do love to see the snow as a yorkshire born girl. love to watch keep up your interesting stories and chat. Brenda
Thank you Brenda x
Happy New Year both! I had been admiring your hat and wondering how you had found one to match your jacket...then you said you’d made it! Well done, it looks great.
Aah, thank you
Walklands rule! Be safe.
Update the dictionary now.😊
Good to watch your new year vlog and to hear that your new boat is coming along nicely. I bet you cannot wait to get on board and start adventuring again. Wood whittling sounds interesting and the purple hat with its grey pom pom looked a real winter warmer - you are both very 'craftsy' and I can see your website goodies expanding in all sorts of ways. At least you can spend time in lockdown exploring the area and let's hope the springtime brings about a positive change for us all. Keep smiling :)
One of the advantages of lockdown is that it allows us to really explore where we are. We love that side of it
Not been on for a few weeks but was good to see you both well and walking, great drone work Rich too.my partner Ruth is recovering from her major surgery, so she is still in essex and I in New zealand. blessing s to you both, John Kaiora.....
Hope she's getting on well and you can soon get over here
Nice to see that you are doing ok
Yes we are
Just watched your latest vlog while we're all confined to barracks with Covid!
I spent several of my early years growing up in Barnton just up the road from the Anderton Boat Lift. You must go back to visit Marbury Country Park in May. It is a sea of Bluebells - a fantastic sight & the dogs will love it.
Stay safe. Carol on the Wirral xx
We have seen the bluebells just letting through already. The way things are going we may still be here in may!!!
Take up the woodcarving, great hobby, plenty of books on Amazon for beginners, telling you the best wood to use etc.i wish I could forward photos of what I have done, give you some idea, what you can do and sell.stay safe.
We would love to see photos.
Hello from Wales...doing our adventures here too but in a different lifestyle. Why not share how you do your crafting or hobbies?...might inspire others .....my granddaughter just completed a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle...you could roll it away on one of those mats. Keeping busy with exercising and walks or baking bread or (for myself as a 62 year old granny) learning some karate katas! Everything on CZcams! God bless you both and thanks for sharing your days x
Thank goodness for you tube. There is something for everyone to learn while locked down. Sounds like you're doing well.
Luved the drone footage of the fields with the tractor wheel marks look beautiful.... but cold oh my.....currently here in Vic, Australia we have had temps up to 38oc last Monday....average around 30oc so at times I feel like I am melting lol....take care you two and be safe...cheers Debz from Oz
Can't imagine how that feels right now. Definitely flip flop weather
I remember HOW as a kid, CITV has now bought it back and Fred Dinage is still making a weekly appearance so my two can watch it, looks lovely and snowy there, Somerset has just had rain as usual!
It seems we have brought back s lot of memories talking about 'How'. We didn't know it has made a return. That's wonderful
@@FloatingOurBoat I remember Jack Hargreaves with his series Out of Town too!
Loved the video, you both spread positivity and it gives many of us who watch you a much needed boost. I'm an admirer of Jack Hargreaves and his countryside knowledge. Not sure whether its still available but his book "Out of Town" is a super little read. Take care both and thanks again. Graham.
It is available on youTube so we are going to have a look
Another worth the wait for blog that is produced well. The music is spot on, too.
Good zen like phrase, Fran, 'just relax into it...' (the lockdown, again) that is now my mantra for coping.
Cheers to you both.
Thank you James
Watching and thinking I must say something about the purple hat, then you said about it and that you’d made it Fran, it’s fantastic. The richness of the colour and the contrasting bobble! Really suits you. Happy New Year and all the best for the un-lockdown adventures. 🥳👍🏻
Thank you so much x
@@FloatingOurBoat 🥰
Morning Fran Rich,so nice to see you both looking well and fit ,how is the new boat coming along will the virus affect the time scale,it was so nice to watch you and Fran Debs Mark such a lovely couple, when do you hope to get t he new boat it begins to look very nice indeed, well interesting video so till next time take care keep safe,,John 🥰🍺❤️🥂🥳😂😇
we are hoping to launch the new boat end of Feb or early March, but who knows in these strange times.
You are just lovely - both of you 😊
Aaaww, thank you xx
I met Jack Hargreaves outside the Southampton TV studios when I was a child. We were just entering the Studios as I and sisters had nominated my mother to tread grapes on the John Junkin show. Kenny Ball held her hand whilst she did it. 🤣 Gosh I believe that was back in the late 60s. I’m 59 now 😱
Happy New Year and stay safe. 😁
.....he lived in Minstead village just a few miles from my home in Lyndhurst.....he was always around and spotted him a number of times. Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember John Junkin too.....!
He always seemed like a lovely man. How wonderful to meet him
Wonderful colour for the new hat Fran ;)
Thank you. From the poem..." When I am old I shall wear purple"
@@FloatingOurBoat old and purple, dont see a connection lol
WOW Jack Hargraves (Beard)) loved the man, I was only little but so wished he could be my grandad, Out of Town and how, I think there was a programme with a boy talking days gone by from a Garden Shed (now Man Cave) and fishing wonder full man.
Everyones favourite grandad
Good to see you both back. Stay safe.
Happy New Year, got a bit behind viewing the vlogs on my subscriptions so now weather is rubbish playing back to back catch up, saw your post about Debbie & Mark, big shock eh. Loved seeing the 4 of you together on towpath tucker night, great way to support them both. Stay safe on those icy lock gates and icy towpaths, love to you both X Patricia
Hi passed you today, I took that grp to the next winding point past the broken cross pub, if your staying around the area, that’s a good place to shop, over the bridge from the winding hole there is a garage shop, if you want heavier items , spuds beer etc, 5 mins walk away., just b4 the winding hole there is a couple of small rings if you look out for them.
Ah, brilliant. I felt so sorry for that guy, wish we could have taken him further. so glad you helped. It makes you think again when you realise the situations some people are in. No doubt we will bump into you again x
@@FloatingOurBoat yeah towpath was closed , so he wouldn’t of got very far. He is walking his boat to Nantwich. Gulp.
