I watched Eric's marathon video and it was really good. Crazy how you did it in such a fast time in jeans and a t-shirt. Pretty much everyone else was in lycra! I tried too hard to skate with a flat back at Berlin last year and was struggling after 10 minutes 😂
Speed skaters adopt a low, bent position not just for aerodynamic benefits, but also to maximize their power output. By bending their knees to around 90 degrees, they significantly extend the reach of their leg during each push. This increased leg extension allows them to generate much more power with each stride.
great you are finally getting into speed! My feedback is..regarding shorts, for me, it's a must for comfort, coolness, and agility. For safety a helmet is a priority N°1..skin grows, TBI doesn't. Stopping technique: soul/magic slide or power stop I find optimum at high speed. Nice explanation of the double push!! Need crossovers for the next vid, a classic for speed. Regarding arms swinging, except sprints, I found that so cringy, better to keep them in the back 🤣🤣 Finally, wheel hardness for me makes a huge difference, hard = fast and more slides, also 3x110 and 125s will keep soo much of the speed going, especially in shitty pavements
11:49 I recall as a small kid I sometimes went ice skating with my dad in the indoor hall in The Hague. He'd usually also do a bit of speed skating, joining the "train" on the fast inside part. I was always fascinated by this bunch with seemingly super human powers to reach such a velocity, and proud my dad was one of them 🥹
I think this video highlights well that true speed skating is in its own league with equipment and technique (and speed!). Even as a good skater I had to relearn so much to get competitive, a lot of which translates really well back to other skates too. Very rewarding journey.
I Wish skate in the streets of again( i made It with a cheap Rolle skate wen i was 14🫣😱,no protection, no helmet..).but Before do that tryng to brake fast. Thanks for the video
I love your channel and how you explain most of the things. Except the tork part on the minute 15:44. I have no idea how to visualize that without any example (the hand waving didn't really help me). Can you explain it in a more graphical way please?
a skate should be as stiff as possible, trinity is always good in its sideways stiffness. 165mm is only stiff if there is a metal plate at the bottom of the boot
Do you need to ask for permission first or can you start forming a speed train with any skater you see on the road? (provided you can chase them fast enough)

Thanks! The 🙏 technique helped a lot

Where is Eric's channel?
The link is in the description, enjoy!
Thanks @thisissoul will do
🎉
Can you guys make a review about iqon boots, especially cl10 and tr10. Because i wanna buy one of those for slalom skating. Thankyou

Ah good that you let me know this did not land. If I explain it again in another video someday ill put extra attention to it.
Great video! What about trinity versus a typical frame system?

I am now Shadow The Hedgehog ong

on the normal road I would ask first, but on a marthon you dont need to ask and its normal the do it.
@Thisissoul what about normal running marathons? I havent seen any trains there but maybe its because noone tried yet
