It would be good to see a competition between either you and vegan Dan or Scott. Give yourselves a budget then do a camp off to see who gets the best value stuff. Then maybe have a vote with the viewers who think got the best stuff. Good video, always interesting to see.

    Love it Dan mate.
Tell you something, a couple of weeks ago my missus wanted to have a looksee around our local 2nd hand charity shop for some books. Whilst i was just pottered about waiting for her I noticed a few bits of camping gear in the corner. So popped over and low and behold there was unused bits like decent vango pillows for 3 quid, used berghaus rucksack for a fiver, used SIMs and couple of used 2 man gelert and coleman tents for hardly any dosh. So my advice is have a shufty around some second hand shops as they could be a goldmine if you want to chance the gear.

    Hi Dan,
Really enjoy this type of comparison video but was a bit surprised at the way you disregarded the sleeping bag because it came from Aldi. What I would like to see is you take the Aldi sleeping bag on a camping trip when the weather gets colder along with a second sleeping bag as a fall back in case the Aldi sleeping bag does fail miserably, this is the only way the Aldi sleeping bag will get a fair review which could help the budget camper immensely.
Great video as always, keep up the good work 👏

Looking forward to more videos like this, as a former Venturer and Rover leader in Canada taking 15 to 17 year old into the Canadian wilderness, I have plenty of experience with budget gear over the years bought by parents. I am looking forward to seeing how this holds up, as leaders we often packed an extra tent, sleeping bag with us, sleep pad etc, as invariably we had equipment failure. We handed out a list of recommendations for equipment but this was often ignored. We then found a outfitter who made their own gear, who would lease us equipment, which definitely helped families on budgets and caused a lot less breakdowns on the trails.
    Cheers Dan

75 pounds sterling is less than we spend on one night at an inexpensive lodging. If this setup sheds wind and rain, it will serve one very well. For TWO: the double air mat and a sleeping bag that will 'mate' with another of the same. So: think 100 pounds with food for two and a bit more cutlery; etc.

The first camping trip I had, out in the wilds with a friend, was 40 years ago. Everything I had was second-hand - other folk's cast-offs and loans. I dread to think how much I have spent on all sorts of gear since then.
This is the cheapest of obsessions, or one of the most expensive.
I once walked St. Cuthbert's Way with nowt but an army bivi bag, head net, a Karrimor foam mat and a nylon sleeping bag from God knows where. Wild-camped throughout the trip. My brother took me to Melrose in his car; I walked to Lindisfarne; hitched to Alnwick and got the bus to Newcastle and home. Experience = priceless. Cost = buttons.
I am going to New Zealand in October, for 6 months. It will be a tad more expensive. ;)

Very good video Dan. I have one of those little stoves and it's very powerful for it's size and good for the price, I haven't found that mine gets through too much gas but then I do not have it full blast as it's quite a noisy bugger. Hopefully this will encourage some 'potential' wild campers to test the waters without having to pay for for expensive kit - good old Aldi comes up trumps again. Shame you didn't video your attempt at getting the tent back into the bag as that would have been comedy gold 😃

Hey Dan, love the video. I have one of those cook sets minus the stove and I have used those pots every day along with my msr pocket rocket 2 for 7 months and they are holding up great . My stove cost a little more but I only have 39 dollars in it and I can't complain at all. The rest of my stuff is army surplus and walmart and I love it all. I see no need to spend a bunch of money on name brand stuff when my budget stuff gives me as much pleasure. Probably more cause I have more money to spend on trips to go use my stuff.

Good video, I enjoyed this one. I buy all my camping gear from aldis, eBay, (it’s a bit of a pain having to wait for it to arrive). I watch many different videos and look for other gear that people use, the last thing I bought is a outdoor tent post lamp holder, you clamp it onto the table and hang the light off it, it’s great, but I’m yet to use it out camping. I also bought a light that you were using, the 5w usb camping bulb, the one that you plug into the battery pack, you showed it in one of you videos, it’s great as well. Camping stuff from aldi generally works pretty well. Any looking forward to when you start camping with that aldis gear. Enjoy the heat, I’m gonna keep watching your videos here in Australia 🇦🇺, bye, Greg. PS I don’t know how anybody could sleep in a hammock, it looks so uncomfortable in that position all night.. ref your last vid I watched.
