Lata Mangeshkar voice floating bahot achha Karti hai aur uska voice echo bollywood ka one of the best Kamaal ka hai. Also she mastered in breath control and vibrato. Aur Rafi ki khoobsurati SAB tumne Bata hi di hai. So yeah teeno equally good hai. Ya Yun kaho ye bhi keh sakte hai song pe depend Karti hai baat.
I am a Buddhist from Sri Lanka (no religion or Country factor) and I prefer Rafi's version. its full of emotion, voice quality and flawless. Lata's version could be made better if she had sung at lower scale. I presume, songs of those days were made to suit Rafi's range and having Rafi in mind. Even Duets were made like that.Take the title song of Dil Tera Deewana. I dont say Lata was a lesser singer. In my opinion Rafi had something unique, an edge over other singers.
I am a Hindu & that too a strong believer and i still think that Mohd. Rafi was the Greatest ever there was ever there will be. And i don't think his singing has to do anything with religion. I am sure he never thought that way. The best Hindu God refering-songs like "Man tarpat Hari darshan ko aaj" , "Madhuban main radhika naache rey" etc are sung by him. And i seriously dont think any hindu would have been able to put that kind of life in those songs.
