I am facilitating a workshop on Sunday at church on storytelling and all these skills are part of the equation, especially the Safety part. Setting up a space where people feel safe enough to share personal information and be vulnerable is paramount. These are with people who know each other for the most part. But it is still important to create that space and have them buy in to the creation.
OH MY GOD!! Chad, you saved my life!! I was getting ready to facilitate a class at church with new material on storytelling and I was panicking about how to structure the class. I watched this video and then bought the two books you recommended. FOGS is the key and "starting with a connecting activity" saved me. It went REALLY well and people were smiling when we were done. One gal even said, "Thank you for creating a safe environment where we felt ok to share personal things." It was awesome. I love you and Will Wise. If I worked for a corporation that did regular training, you would be my go-to guy! Yay!!

Winnie, I almost failed public speaking in college because my professor insisted that I "tone down" my gestures and some of my energy. It felt incredibly inauthentic. It was satisfying to send him a recording of my TEDx talk when it was released 6 or 7 years ago 😊 Glad to be connected. And I'm excited for you to get your tools!
