The Castle of Good Hope🏰, known in Dutch as "Kasteel de Goede Hoop" was built by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) between 1666 & 1679 making it the oldest existing colonial building in South Africa and was declared a historical monument (now a provincial heritage site) in 1936.
Following restoration work⚒️in the 1980s, it is considered to be the best preserved example of a 17th century architectural structure in the entire world🌍.
