If you actually pay attention to the argument Shannon stops him self from saying that. After Skip made that statement Shannon said “I’m a better player than…” then he catches himself.
That's not what happened Vlad. Shannon was saying Brady wasn't having a great year, which is true. Skip then accused Shannon of down-talking Brady because of jealousy which was out of line. Then he said Brady was a better player, but that was irrelevant to the discussion. Shannon wasn't speaking from a place of jealousy he was speaking from a place of fact this year and because Skip is so blinded by his love for Brady he disrespected Shannon repeatedly in that interview in ways that would end badly if he was talking to most people. Skip was completely out of line.

I completely agree with Gilbert. You don't have to play the game or play at a high level or win a title to understand the game and give an opinion on it. Some of the greatest coaches never played at all or at a high level. Critique is about the way you do it and sometimes it is who doing it. Jalen Rose can talk about how something he saw lets him know a player gave up on the team and how that will affect the locker room. He can talk about someone should have had more energy at a certain point in the game and how that shows he's not committed. He knows that NBA player culture. But how can Skip and Stephen A. make all those assumptions?
As an analyst who has not played on a high level, you can talk about someone being out of assignment. You can talk about them not jumping to get an easy rebound. You can talk about them not being professional if they aren't making mandatory team meetings as a leader on a losing team. Those are things that someone who didn't play at that level can point out and critique. But when you go in on the skill set of all- time greats, dismiss their accomplishments, downplay their great games acting like they can do so much more; then you aren't acting as an impartial analyst anymore. You're being a hating spectator. Skip couldn't even average two points as a senior in high school playing JV. So how can you clown someone like Lebron after he scores 50 points in NBA game? How can you ask "how hard is it to do x,y, and z?" when you couldn't do it at a much lower level? You can't give people nicknames clowning them as professionals. That's when people will pull your credentials.
One thing we can say is if it's a discussion about the greatest Tight End ever, Shannon's in it. So if a person like that can't talk about a fellow NFL player's performance without the "he is way better than you" argument, then how could Skip think he could ever fix his hating mouth to clown Lebron?

Gilbert Arenas was actually correct in his assessment, and it made me think about conversations I've had in the past with people that didn't play sports. Because I played basketball, I would discredit the opinion of others, solely because I played and they didn't. And although the things they said were untrue, I shouldn't have discredited their opinion by using my credentials to invalidate their point.
Skip didn't go below the belt. He crossed the line. Shannon asked him in that moment 'you will disrespect me to defend him?'. That was the moment Skip should have apologized for doing it, say he should have never even considered it. Well, he didn't and he never apologized publicly afterwards either. Shannon really was a friend to him up until that point.
Shannon may not never admit he feels differently about skip after that, just because Skip gave him the opportunity on Undisputed. Shannon is a very respectful individual, I don't think he'll ever go on someone else's podcast and speak on it. Just an opinion.
