VERY IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: I am a private pilot and am NOT qualified to give flying instruction. This video, like all videos on this channel, has been significantly edited from the original source footage and is provided for entertainment purposes only. Many radio calls and procedures have been omitted. If you have any questions about anything you see or hear, please speak to a Certified Flying Instructor first.
Great landing!
đ»
haha, im usually always in NFR or JDC !!
I just had my first circuits with instructor last Saturday 29th, a bit of a challenge, I had good one, one almost didn't make it to the runway and hard bounced landing.
Oh awesome! Congratulations. Donât stress about the bounces. Itâs all a part of learning. If a pilot says theyâve never bounced one theyâre lying đ€„ đ
@@SpruceMooseAviation I've watch some of your old videos, when you were doing circuits with Jabiro, I think everyone started that way.
You must have me mistaken. I havenât flown a Jabiru before
Great stuff and helps me with my sim practice.. Many thanks for posting...
Thank you, appreciate it. Iâd love to have a sim at home to help with procedure practice. Would you recommend Microsoft flight sim?
Super handy video, thanks mate. Personally, I would appreciate hearing the exact processes and radio calls throughout. It's really helpful seeing another pilot of my 'home' track going through the motions. Also, I might differ from a comment below but it's always interesting to hear the other chatter going around on the either Ground or Tower. But, I appreciate that also cuts into what narration you can do as you're continuously interrupted. Thanks again
Thanks LH. I appreciate it. Iâd love to do a video on exact processes but I have to be careful about videos coming across as âinstructionalâ. Until I do my instructor rating đ.
Currently trying to nail this exact circuit at Bankstown for my PPL.
Great video at the right time!
Ah nice work. I cut a lot of the exact processes out because I didnât want it to come across as âinstructingâ but hopefully you got some value from it anyway. Youâll get there, itâs literally just time in the circuit and revising each process, it will all click. Thanks again for watching and the comment đ€đŒ

All my learning comes from my instructor and literature but these videos help the workflow and to visualise the fields. Just nice seeing the aerodrome and runways I share with you!
Looking forward to more videos - definitely would love some cross country.
Thatâs great to hear that it helps. Iâm really frustrated about not having my nav flights on the channel yet. I had a major issue with files being corrupted when I transferred everything to a new hard drive. I have 7-8 nav flights of footage totalling close to 3 terabytes that all have issues with one or all of the camera footage. Itâs been devastating. Iâm aiming to put a video together that combines all of the footage thatâs left as an overview of my hour building and then hopefully work on recovering the corrupt data to make full videos later.
Is it NFR or NRF, haha. Yes, doing circuits is great practice for sure. Maybe you could do a cross country to Orange or similar and take us along. You going to the Airshow down at Wollongong ??. Thanks for the upload, look forward to more.
Hey Spiro. I hope you are well. Iâve done cross countries and filmed to Moruya, Bathurst/Mudgee/Dubbo, Taree/Coffs Harbour, Canberra etc etcâŠ. BUT, the hard drive I have all the footage on has corrupted most of the video files. Itâs an absolute nightmare. Otherwise Iâd have 5-6 more cross country videos on the channel by now. Iâm trying to repair the files but I havenât had any luck so far đ
NFR = No Fucking Run for me... from experience.. lol
Looks like you had a bit of turbulence.
Hi mate,
Firstly thank you for your videos. I intend to do my RPL at Bankstown, so hearing the full script from start to finish when talking to ATC is more helpful then I can say. Nothing to us noobs is scarier then getting this right lol. Request if you ever have time.
1. Full long video of a circuit with the Piper Warrior PA28-161. Start-up to parking including talking to ATC.
2. Could you fly the Sydney Victor 1 flight and show full ATC communications required?
Thanks again mate.
Hey Mr Murray. Not a problem at all, itâs always great to hear when youâre getting value from the videos. Thank you, I appreciate it.
As for the videos I will lock those in the memory bank and next time Iâm flying those Iâll cut something together for you. Iâve got a familiarisation CCTS video coming up but thatâs in the 152. Youâll still get a lot from it but Iâll try do a full YSBK CCT breakdown in the Piper for you as well đ€đŒ

Nice Video!
Cheers Alex. Not sure if I should keep the radio calls in it though. What do you think?
â@@SpruceMooseAviation In this video I thought it was pretty good. It depends though, if the radio is constant jabber, then I think that the ones relevant to you should be kept in. Lewdix, Stef Drury and Aviation101 all throw some radio calls in - I reckon it adds some 'flavour' to the video.
@@Alexander_K777 Yeah Iâve left my radio calls in but I was more referring to the calls between landing and taxing back? I guess the more specific question is, did you watch the whole video or did you find that part irrelevant?
@@SpruceMooseAviation For the calls that weren't intertwined with you speaking - I would remove them and remove the 'captions/descriptions' of them too. Other than that great video đ.
Okay. Thatâs great, thanks for the feedback. I was in two minds when I left those in but youâve made my mind up for me now. Iâll cut the video down.
Hi mate. I'm following a very similar path to you I suspect. About to embark on a few months of hour building toward the CPL then an instructor rating. Enjoying the content. I'm using it to practice (chair flying actually) although my home airport is YSCB.
Hi Anthony, itâs great to hear you like the content. Where are you currently at in your flying? YSCB would be a great airport to learn at given the class C environment.
@@SpruceMooseAviation Hi mate. All CPL subjects completed and passed. Hold a private licence atm with MPPC endorsements / checkout. Have about 70 hours of PIC time to fly. Hoping to get that done over the next few months. The class c environment is good. It's surprisingly easier than a complex busy CTAF at times can you believe. The challenge at Canberra is access to the aircraft. There are a stack of people clambering for a small number of planes. I'd love to buy but the prices are through the roof.
Very inspiring. Question I am a beginner student pilot, did you call the ground first before taxi or just the control tower right away?
Hey Cherf, thanks mate I appreciate it. Yes, at the very start of the video I contact ground to ârequest startup for circuitsâ.
Thatâs awesome to hear youâve started training. Where are you doing it?
@@SpruceMooseAviation Thanks, in your other video you mention 2RN what does it means, please?
@@Cherfield-D-Blessedman Two RN is one of a few âinbound reporting points for Bankstownâ. The other main one is Prospect reservoir and there are a couple more that you wonât normally use for training until youâre getting clearance to go through class C airspace. Which you donât need to worry about if youâre just starting. Where are you/thinking of doing your flight training with?
@@SpruceMooseAviation I enrolled now with Sydney Flight College FC. Done my first two with warrior, but i think I have to change to the new TX, cause the old Warrior not appetizing to fly, condition not good, a bit scary to fly to be honest.
Ah okay. Thatâs awesome. Yeah the old Warriors definitely vary when it comes to quality. But Iâm saying that it is good to get used to a variety of aircraft once youâre comfortable with the basics. Do you mind me asking how you found out about SFC? They have been doing a lot of advertising lately and Iâm wondering if thatâs how you heard about them or if you already knew someone who recommended them?
*Too
Ahh yes, thank you Iâll fix it
I think you've put the mono radio audio on just the left channel, can you please dupe it for both left and right for future videos. Good content otherwise
Hey Zach, ahh okay. Thanks for letting me know. I edited it with headphones on and didnât pick up on that but Iâll check it out and make sure I fix it moving forward. đ»
