When you think about it, that first scene with Connor was perfect foreshadowing of this playthrough, and most of his choice-based games.
Berlin spends the majority of the time on the rooftop, absolutely crushing every decision, getting every clue, doing literally everything the "right way."
And then, right at the end, at the literal final chance he has to fuck up, he picks the wrong decision and everyone dies.

If she is an android(I can’t remember if it was confirmed or not), it’s like dude you’re the one that went and bought her, what’s the point of getting her and then acting like you don’t want her around.
He bought himself a new wife and daughter to prove to himself he’s not as useless as he thinks he is. The problem, of course, is that he’s incapable of understanding that his family left because of him. Not to be too sympathetic towards him because he needs to be held accountable for his actions, but it’s pretty clear that his life is essentially a Sisyphus job: Wake up and realize you hate yourself -> get high because you don’t have any source of validation (like a job or something) of your personal value, so you just escape the feeling of worthlessness altogether instead -> come down -> feel like utter shit from coming down as well as guilty because your wife left and your child doesn’t connect to you -> lash out on your family because you feel helpless and also abstinent -> get high -> come down -> feel guilty about lashing out… etc. Rinse and repeat for the rest of your life.
