We got delayed at the border Zim side (about 4 hours) because we had some of our car registration details missing.#Beitbridge#Beitbridgeborderpost#Zimborders#Roadtrip#JohannesburgHarare#BeitbridgeMasvingo

(Follow this link and signup to register your vehicle details, if you are driving a South African registered vehicle at least 48 hours before you cross into Zimbabwe from South Africa to get the reference number for your TIP (Temporary Import Permit), Please keep this reference number as you will need it at the Zim side).
Wow the road is now in good shape and it seems like they are few portions to be completed.Seems like Zim is improving
There are still some large patches between Beitbridge and Masvingo which still needs to be completed. I will be posting another video on our way back during the day. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Lovely tutorial for first time Zimbabwe Travellers. Please drive on the left in a dual carriage way and only use the right lane to pass. Keep left pass right.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, liking and sharing.
Thanks for the video. I still feel the government should have done a dual carriageway, with a barrier starting with this road. Lots of trucks in our roads and at night its a problem, lots of head on accidents
That is very true, our hope is that they do this as soon as possible.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, liking and sharing.
The work they've done in Beitbridge is commendable but there is still room for improvement. Firstly the roundabouts at have no signage to say where each turn off leads, this is especially needed if drivers are unfamiliar with the area. Secondly it is a main road in a growing urban area so they need to sort out some safe pedestrian crossings (including bridges) and street lighting to make it safe for all road users.
Also they need to do something to stop people's livestock wandering near the road and potentially causing accidents like that goat.
Definitely, there is a lot of room for improvement. Our hope is that they take all the feedback and start improving what they probably missed or overlooked. Thank you for subscribing and sharing.
Ngavaise big sign posts anoratidza kuti road irikuendepi km, big sign boards like SA with arrows , first class roads like Kenya
Maybe they will in future! Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Thanks for the video Baba, Can you give us a breakdown of all the charges on the Zim side.
Hi there, breakdown of fees, Border post toll fees for light motor vehicle $27,00, Bridge toll fees for light motor vehicle $9,00 then Road toll fees $8,00 ($2,00 x 4 toll gates up to Harare). Total $45,00. This is one way. It’s the same for the return trip. You are looking at approx $90,00. Thank you for watching.
@@farmingriteZim Thank you so much.
Thanks🙏🙏🙏
You are welcome
I thought the whole highway was completed🤔🤔😌😌
Anyways, many thanks for video🙏🙏
As of mid July 2023 the stretch from Beitbridge to Masvingo there were patches which are were not completed. The larger patches which were not completed were a few kilometres from Bubi to Chibi. I think that part might take longer to complete as they had not even started on some parts. The stretch from Masvingo to Chivhu, should be completed by now because as of July 2023 they were only left with small patches to complete.
From Chivhu to Harare, a few kilometres before the Harare South Toll Gate was still under construction including that bridge at Skyline and Mbudzi interchange.
Thank for watching!
I'm watching beautiful highway nice content I did subscribe
Thank you@@mrplumtreeandfamily9899
Good day thanks for the video, how long did it take at Beitbridge?
Good day to you and thanks for watching and subscribing. On the South African side it took us about an hour because the immigration queues are longer. Zim side it took us about 3 hours in total. Try and avoid the Zim side shift change (We got caught out in the afternoon 2pm shift change and the system went down around that same time) and also complete your TIP (Temporary Import Permit for private motor vehicles) online before you arrive at the border. However, you can still complete this when you get to the counter using their WIFI as they give you access to their WIFI but it just means a bit of delay. Safe and happy travels.
Looks nice, but looks like pedestrian crossings were not put into consideration...
We are not sure if there are no designated pedestrian walk ways.
Thanks for watching and subscribing.
@@farmingriteZim thanks Farming rite, the pedestrian crossing I was referring to were those of flyover, where pedestrians cross over the highways on bridges...
@@xklantribe945Yeah, that’s true it looks that way.
They want a rural kid to die first. They don't like to prevent issues but they like to fix them
just curious are u zim citizen? what documentation do u need to cross a private vehicle SA registration. thanks for your response
Yes, we are Zim citizens.
You will need the original registration book (if you own the vehicle), if the vehicle is still on finance you will need a letter from the bank with your ID or passport number on it which is authorising you to cross the border with the vehicle and a certified copy of the registration book of the vehicle (it should be certified by the bank).
You also need insurance confirmation letter from your insurance confirming the insured parties and that the vehicle is insured in Zim and how much it is insured for. The insurance letter should have the driver details (ID or Passport number).
You will need to register for your Temporary Import Permit (TIP ) for Zim side, online 48 hours before your arrival but you can still register at Zim counter when you arrive, it just adds delays though.
You should also have your drivers license for when you cross into Zim as police roadblocks will probably ask for drivers license, passport and TIP of the driver.
Everything else is the normal stuff, you pay for a few things on the Zim side, in total it was not more than 1000 rands as of July 2023. You can pay with rands or USD.
Thanks for watching, will give another update on our experience and any requirement changes in December as we plan to do the same trip again.
@@farmingriteZim thank you
@@charibannywellYou are most welcome!
12:46 Mota ya Paradza we Beitbridge 😂
Thank you
How are you Farmingrite how many hours did you take to reach Masvingo from the border? Thanx in advance!!
I am good thanks and how are you?
It took us about 4 hours, almost half of the distance was when it was dark so we were driving slowly. Also there were patches which were very bad, as a result we took longer.
It is better to drive this stretch during the day as it is a busy road.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, liking and sharing.
Meant
Why not 3 lanes on a highway
Guess it’s still work in progress, hope they will get to do that!
Ehy not 3 lanes on a highway???
The same road is going to be dualised, by constructing a whole new road on the sides. It shall be three lines north bound and three lines south bound. There is part of the roads where it has already been dualised.
Thanks for watching.
How much fuel did you use?
We filled a full tank in Johannesburg and then topped up just before Musina (33 litres), all the way to Harare. We then topped up in Harare on our way to Jerera Zaka (62 litres). We then topped up again in Masvingo on our back to Johannesburg (25 litres), which took us to Polokwane where we filled 75 litres. That fuel took us to Johannesburg. In total we used plus or minus 510 USD for the round trip of about plus or minus 2600km. The car has a fuel tank capacity of 86 litres.
Thank you for watching!
@farmingriteZim why no use an airplane? Or maybe you had a lot of luggage
There is litteraly nothing absolutely nothing between beitbridge and Harare
What do you mean
up to where did you take your video it seems you did not even get up to masvingo. you have not been informative enough for one who knows the area or not, would need markers on your video hence someone is asking if there is nothing at all between harare and beitbridge
We got to Masvingo in episode #02, we did not put markers because we did not know some of the places and part of it was at night so did not want to incorrectly mark the places. Thanks for watching, subscribing, liking, sharing and commenting.
can i drive my south african registered car to zim without a work permit
If the car is still under finance, I think you might find it difficult as you will need an authorisation letter from the finance institution and also you will need a letter from your insurance provider.
But if the car is not on finance, I think you should be able to cross with it as long as you have the original registration documents in your name and I believe police clearance of the vehicle.
@@farmingriteZim You must either have documents that you are legally resident in SA,business or employment.I think thats what the question was looking for
