Basically overpaying for a vacation house, but you don’t technically own it. You pay for a portion of the property with multiple other people and you all get different periods of time to use that house.

You can't teach stuff like this specifically at school. Your school curriculum won't be able to fit everything that way. What the schools can do however, is to teach the students how to be critical thinkers. People always think critical thinking is just something that's innate, but it's not. By being critical, you will analyse information more thoroughly and be able to spot scams.
If it is too good to be true 99% of the time it is a scam... It would be nice is school taught you about inequality, the percentage of the class expected to be successful and the percentage that will struggle and that you will be preyed on if you aren't careful..

I use to work for a company that gets you out of timeshares and vacation packages. Smh the horrible things they do to get a sale is crazy. They have to try anything and everything to get you to buy something. To anyone who goes to them....you can legally leave after 90 minutes ..and don't feel guilty for not buying anything ...they try to keep you for hours smh so they can ware you down to buy just to get away from them. Also I believe most contracts can be cancelled before the 7th day after purchase. .but even with that I had clients say once they signed, their presenter of the timeshare would not return calls or would wait until it's too late. And also with the passing down to kids thing...its passing down a bill because you have to pay for your points regardless. Oh and also it's retail so its always upselling... you can be almost down with your payments and they will rope you into another 10 year contract and you have to start all over again smh.....Majority of the people who have timeshares that have benefitted from them purchased them in like the 80s and didn't add anything onto their contracts. ..or wealthy folks who don't care about money. Sorry about the rant but ive heard very sad stories..

It’s very common in those destinations. One of my trips to CanCun with my family we had to sit through one of those presentations because we wanted to get a free attraction. It was only an hour which was a bummer & we had to go to another hotel but hey, at least we got to swim with dolphins for free.

Bad financial choice with RCI - I got out of it because my sales person told methat I would never have to pay for any annual fees for life...ONE TIME PAYMENT...I used that to call the office and said they pretty much lied to me and that I wanted my $3500 back...Office staff told me she noted my account that I will never have to pay annual fees again because of my sales person.....refunded me my $500 and then 6 months later my account was closed - just have to be firm!
LOL, I think my friend got hustled on this same plan. He kept trying to get us to use his points on our Puerto trip and it costs about the same but with less selection.

It sounds like a good deal but I kept telling them that since I know so little about timeshare I need to do some research. The last person they handed me off to expressed empathy but when my answer remained the same, his rude side kicked in to end the tour lol.

Guys and gals it's called putting a stop payment on your credit card. The most they can try to do is put it on your credit report if they have your social security number even then it can be disputed threw the credit Bureau and removed. That's how you get rid of those Debts.
