Worked at a Qdoba for 2 years and we always hooked up the customers. Ask for anything and we’d make it. That all changed when new management came in. The quality of the meat we received got worse and they’d schedule 3-4 people to work instead of the normal 6-7 . And they got on us hard for our proportions, they said to only give them a 4 oz cup worth of chicken instead of the normal 8 oz. And they had us cut the meat into smaller chunks so it’d look like you have more than you’ve got. It went from a fun low stress job where you switch off roles to being stuck on the line or till for hours at a time.

My now fiance used to work in a college football stadium/catering. The stories of how Qdoba employees left their stall in the stadium turned me off for good. No clean up was done once the season was over. At all. Think layers upon layers upon layers of moldy food, utensils, the fridge practically had to be thrown away because it was left unplugged with food still in it. Their staff was not held accountable, the catering employees were left to deal with clean up. Yeah. No thanks. 🤢 obv not every store is like that but I always expect food poisoning on the rare occasion I do eat their food.

Yes qdoba gives out more food than chipotle at half the cost basically with free queso and guac. But if your the type of person who cares about quantity over quality than qdoba is the right place for you. As for me personally I rather have quality over quantity. That is why I choose chipotle. Yes I know I am paying double or even triple the amount of food at chipotle than qdoba but there are some secrets to these restaurants. I have worked both places. I was the service manager for chipotle and the night shift manager at qdoba. There are many pros and cons to each place.
Chipotle
Pros: fresh ingredients and made by hand on majority of the salsas including guac
Cons: expensive and most chipotles is always out of salsas or chips
Qdoba
Pros: cheap and affordable. Free guac and queso.
Cons: the cheese is processed and the rices are not washed
This may offend some people but this is the truth behind these restaurants. Over the years of working in food service I have worked on not just one restaurant for each company but multiple locations and they all the same exact problems as I have listed. So if you like quantity over quality than qdoba is the right choice for you and if you like quality over quantity then chipotle is the right one for you.
