Don’t forget: do not discredit them just because their first language is Korean. They are lyricists, songwriters, and producers. They can write English and Japanese lyrics as well which is just as impressive, especially because not everyone in the group is comfortably fluent. The power of music, right? That’s what’s fun about BTS reactions from US Americans, seeing people discover how versatile foreign artists can be. They’re not all glossy, manufactured images with catchy tunes, they’re absolute powerhouses and people aren’t used to that level of dedication :)

Yes. The message of the song was all about resilience. They have faced so many hardships on their journey. They were real underdogs in Korea, from a small company, no money, sleeping all 7 in one room for years, working 12-16 hour days, and it’s still fresh in their memories as, even recently, they talked about how they can now eat whatever they want. If you are interested, recommend you watch the latest intro video from xCeleste channel ‘This is BTS: introduction to BTS (part1)’.

They participate in the creation of their music, there so talented. This is one of the reason why they have a big following. This was film in Los Angeles, it's a dried up jam. BTS is not just another boy band for sure and not just another Korean Pop band either. They are way more than just that. My BTS journey started last year, and it hasn’t stopped since. These boys are really something special and what they bring to the world is nothing but positive, respect each other, accept yourself, love yourself message. They are part of an industry and like any other enterprise, their label is a business obviously driven to make a profit, no different than any other western, European and/or American music or entertainment company. However, BTS main focus and dedication is to their fans and their craft. And, what sets them apart from the KPOP industry it’s that they’re involved with the production of their music and many aspects of what they release to the public. There are many good suggestions in the comments. Xceleste has many excellent mini bio documentaries. She released one just recently called “This Is BTS”. For dad, I suggest to watch the following which as mature Army Mom found rather interesting, and informative, by army I meant the BTS fandom, not the armed forces btw:

You are correct that the message of the song has to do with resilience/perseverance. This song 'ON' is from their album called 'Map of the Soul : 7' which is related to Jungian psychology that aims to bring together the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind to achieve balance and wholeness thereafter.
In this album, there are also songs are called 'Persona', 'Shadow', and 'Ego'. In Jungian psychology, the persona is the conscious part of our mind composed of the ideal aspects of ourselves that we present to the outside world, the shadow is the unconscious part of our mind composed of the things we repress such as weaknesses and pain and other things, the ego is part of both the conscious and unconscious. To achieve a balanced and stable ego, the individual has to admit both their undesirable shadow and their desirable persona. A stable ego is necessary in order for us to do our true transformational work as individuals.

They do sing in Korean and English! Dynamite was written by someone else. They do a lot of their own work. On this song they did work with a band to help make the beat. They are very talented, they sing, dance, choreograph, write their own music. This was a comeback song (that was going to be promoted but the pandemic occurred) and stems from times when they were getting to the top! So they were saying bring it on, no one is going to stop them. They have won many awards etc. but they have had to work super hard to get to where they are today.

You're right they are seasoned professionals. They've been doing this for 10 years. First as trainees and then 7 years after they debuted. What you see in an MV, is done live on stage. They've trained to be able to dance and sing at the same time. There are 7 members which isn't a high number in K-Pop. The one that did the solo whose voice you liked was Jungkook, he's the main vocalist. There's no lead. His voice is the most stable when singing and dancing, he's the all rounder, he's the one that harmonizes and does adlibs. In general though, JK has a beautiful airy voice. BTS has become so much more than their contemporaries that they are now considered a genre of their own. They're at the top of the food chain. They are skilled and hardworking young men, but what keeps us coming back is their personalities. They don't use the same boy band formula that they do in the United States. Fun fact, when you first see the opening of the video with the back up dancers, your eye gets drawn to a young woman at the front who air drums.... she's the choreographer. She's 19 years old. She's phenomenal.

I usually read the lyrics a few times by itself to really understand what it's saying. Black Swan, for instance, is about the fear of losing their passion for music, but I didn't realize when I first heard it even while reading the lyrics during the mv.
Also as a sidenote, there are 7 members total, 4 vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook (the youngest and the one with the really high notes) and 3 rappers (RM, Suga, and J-Hope). The rappers, or rapline, are the members who write and produce a lot of their music.

It’s so cool you post around my lunchtime! (It’s Sunday already where I am - BTS have ARMY all over the world!). Thank you for watching ON. It was filmed in 2019 or 2020 while they were on their last US trip, others may know when exactly. The setting is a viaduct in California I think. ON is the lead single from their 2020 album Map of the Soul 7. They can do this choreography while singing live though it kills them! (check out Jimmy Fallon, Grand Central Station performance). From the same album, but a completely different vibe, is Black Swan. The title is inspired by the movie of the same name and the message is based on a quote about a dancer having two deaths, the first when they can no longer dance and that first death is more painful. When BTS sing it, they are talking about their fear of losing their passion for their art. FYI You comment on their high voices which they have honed/ strengthened over the years but they didn’t use those as much when they debuted as a more hip hop group...if you wanna dip into where they came from 6-7 years ago, then check out ‘Boy in Luv’, (that’s ‘in’ love not the later ‘with’ luv), Dope’ and ‘We are Bulletproof part 2’. This is from their latest album "Map of the Soul: 7" that just came out in Feb and was filmed in LA and it was choreographed by the woman in the middle of the formation in the beginning, she's 19. The other dancers are a dance co called The Lab. The music was a real band, UCLA I think... Their albums have themes; Map of Soul is based off Jungian philosophy about the Persona, Id, and Ego. A lot of the songs on this album deal with facing your inner shadows to become the best version of yourself. Most of their videos take a couple views to be able to pay attention to the dance and visuals AND to get the lyrics. Also, remember that lyrics depend on the translator and sometimes they are not completely accurate.

This is the new grown mature versions of their old selves *They teamed up with marching band / dancers called THE LAB and filmed in Los Angeles which the kinetic manifesto film is a preview video of their full choreography since they only do the dance break part in their official MV* when this came out I was like this the whole time 🙀👀 then ☠️ toward the end, I couldn’t explain it at all I had no words it literally gives me 2013 N.O along with 2017 Not Today and 2013 We are Bulletproof vibes that I found later through interviews that this title track is reverse of their 2013 title track “N.O” from their second album ‘O!RUL8,2?’, our guys definitely didn’t come to play, once I heard it I knew it was the title track. Like OMG the others are playing the drums behind Suga and our man Jin front & center. I did notice Jin wasn’t part of the dance break b/c he said it was very difficult for him which is perfectly fine & understandable, he has been doing so great along with RM and Suga with their dancing; i’m overly proud of their improvement 😵😻 I know nobody wants to think about it but since Jin, V & JungKook will start standing out more because V & JK will have to carry the responsible of BTS name when the time comes having to send off their hyungs one by one unless they all decide to enlist at the same time which I pray doesn’t happen; which hasn’t been confirmed yet and i’m not sure on how that would work since they haven’t started their solo debuts yet which is concerning me the closer it gets to enlistment which may not happen because of the virus outbreak. The more I listen and many fans have their theories but I think what theyre basically saying is no matter what negativity or challenges comes their way they’ll overcome it together when they say “Bring it, Bring the pain”, I wish every kpop artist had that mindset because there would’ve been less disbandments & members leaving their groups. I’m so proud of their improvement and I also believe the backup dancers representing the ARMY 💪🏽 which is saying that the fans & BTS have each other’s back, theyre willing to go out of their way to help each other and others to get through the hardship. Theyve mixed in allot of their old choreo with this new choreography, there’s so much symbolism going on within their dancing including the new fake tattoos on Taehyung’s face & neck which he wanted to use for this concept. Their outfits symbolize the Light & Dark, which they’re finally embracing both sides to balance themselves (revolutionary title song). #BTSOn

They can speak Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese and a little of other languages that they learned during their world tour concerts.
They can self produce and write their own music, in fact all 7 of them are members of Korea Music Copyright Association.
And yes they all bring different things to the table, even for 3 rappers, each one have different style of rapping and music. For the 4 vocalist, they have different distinct voices and singing styles. Once you get to know them, all of them are really different. You can see it in their solo work such as singles and mixtapes.

Originally, K-Pop refers to "a genre of popular music originating in South Korea", also known as 'gayo'. As time passed, K-Pop is more like a complete package of the artist, the music, the performance, the make up, the style, all integrated together. BTS genre is so vary, it covers not only k-pop but also some original ones. Korean used to say BTS was too westernized, while BTS are actually a perfect ambassador of the culture. They often perform using traditional concept. The way BTS embraced the whole world despite the different cultures, language, gender identity, thus creates another term: BTS-pop. Because BTS are more than just K-Pop.
The song Dynamite, is not written by BTS. It's a song they intended to give to the world, to uplift the mood and to spread good vibe to the otherwise dull 2020. It's not BTS signature nor trade mark, but again, BTS is always trying something new.
If you want to see BTS's songs that best represent BTS, ARMYs have given you suggestion, I saw some, LOL... Trust Armys. They know what's good.
For an easier, friendly nudge, especially if you're an American, try MIC DROP, Steve Aoki's mix
(Ah, you HAVE seen it... Great!)
If you want to see some hardcore, check Daechwita, AgustD. Or Joke, RM. Cypher series. Ddaeng. Ugh.
Into dance choreo? ON Kinematic Manifesto.
Yeah the one you've checked rn.
You like cinematic stuff? ON the MV
    . It;s different...
A romantic dude? Black Swan, any version.
Want to see how good they really are? MMA 2018, MAMA 2018, MMA 2019, MAMA 2019. Live.
    Anyway, thank you for reacting!
    Good luck.

Yes, they write their own music and help produce almost every single song. Dynamite is the exception. The rapline produce and write theirown mixtapes and sometimes other artists too. Their lyrics are always meaningful too. Dynamite being an exception again as they didn't write it. I'm sure someone has explained, but "BTS" stands for Bulletproof Boyscouts in Korean - they wanted to be like a bulletproof vest for youth and people against hardships, and everything they've ever done has contributed to that cause without exception. In my humble opinion, they're the only artists these days that is using the power of music the best way - to help listeners in any type of struggle, for any demographic. Most of us can only wish to be your boy - to find these guys young and have their help growing up.

Welcome to bts world~ i'm glad you both find them interesting, this song for sure is amazing, especially because it has a real motivating message that happens to comfort those who are having a hard time in life in general. Bts are not your average boyband since they put a LOT of hard work and deeper thought in whatever they do, saying that, i'd like to recommend you to watch xceleste's "This is BTS" introduction video, it's really helpful and informative to get to know bts as a whole, it's a tiny bit long bit definitely worth it. Fyi, this is the MV that MTV chose for ARMYs to vote for this year's VMAs.
BTS was nominated in 4 categories, only 3 could be voted: Best K-Pop, Best Pop, Best Group, and 1 more Best Choreography as evaluated by MTV's panel of judges.
BTS won AGAIN as Best K-Pop & Best Group, AND a new HUGE win in Best Pop beating famous names like Halsey, the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber & Quavo, Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift!
Then the ON Film's DANCE was chosen as Best Choreography, also a first win for BTS.
So, BTS WON ALL 4 noms!
    P.S.
Here's the explanation of what the Title "ON Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima" means from armymagazine.co:
The word kinetic, when referencing a work of art, indicates the use of motion to show effectiveness to the viewer. Manifesto, or in this case a manifesto film, refers to a declaration of one’s intentions or views, a promotion of a new idea and showing the enforcement of those changes. is an Italian term that, in the direction in music, means repetition. It means in the same manner as the first time (As before).

Yes the kpop artists do mix english & their own language together so that everyone can semi understand them but what many still don’t know is that allot of the Kopp artists themselves are NOT all South Korean but a variety of different asians from all over the world that either go for auditions or get scouted. Some were born & raised in the States and others go aboard or learn english from watching american tv in their country just like RM did through sitcom ‘Friends’ growing up. Kpop itself isn’t just one genre but a variety of mixed genres which gives us a taste of Hip hop, rap, R&B, EDM, electro, pop, retro, deep emotional melodies, dark theme, sexy melodies in many languages from C-Pop/M-Pop(Chinese/Mandarin Pop), J-Pop (Japanese Pop) and so on.

South Korea has some of the highest suicide rates in the world. You are right in that this a song about not giving up. They are indicating that the world is messed up, the "sky is falling everyday," but even though they have fear inside, they keep going. They are fighters, so they aren't going to give up hope, their lives, etc, even though bad things are happening. BTS is inviting us to come & bleed with them (figuratively). BTS' company mission is emotional healing through art.

Yes, their songs carried messages. The last song Dynamite you reacted was not written by them. It was aimed to cheer people up in the pandemic. There is no deep meaning in it. You can check out “black swan”, It is about they were afraid of losing their passion for music after gaining so much fame.
They had political and social conscious songs. Their old music “N.O.”. is about the society/school system turning the children into studying machines, but they encourage them to follow their dream.
