Would love to see Andy Anderson try this out.
You and me both!
Everybody needs to see that.
It's just meant to be ...
@@brailleskateboarding yeah also thought that sounds like an andy anderson trick
My first thought when I saw the challenge was that Andy would nail it.
Literally was here to say this
Mechanical engineer here. 6:35 gabe is actually 100% correct because he is describing the feeling of a changing velocity vector, which requires acceleration although the speed remains the same. This would present itself as a parabolic curve. The velocity vector changing requires a constant nonzero acceleration which would require a net force, in this case it would be the normal force off the rail and the movement of the rail, which would have to combine with the velocity the skater starts with. This constant acceleration would present itself through the rail itself and would feel much like a curved rail. You would need something or someone to push the rail though. Gabe = 10,000 iq
This one is in the top three best Braille vids ever for sure! 🔥 now do this with a curved rail or an S rail 👍
Thanks!
A ring shaped rail but spinning fast enough so you can grind it stationary
@@samstone4508 duuuude yes! With a couple of rings on the floor to guide the rail and keep it stationary! Yoooo!
@@brailleskateboarding yo this can get Uber cray cray up in that thurrr BH! 🔥
The physics on the 180 do not work.
It is impossible.
It is just like saying “grind half way along this rail, stop and come back, without adding momentum in the opposite direction.”
Probably one of the top 3 inventions. Right up there with the Christmas tree launcher
😂
The pressure of the skater's weight on the last half of the rail acts against the spin. This would be so hard to complete a full 180 rotation. GG boys and great engineering and craftsmanship.
Almost need the rail holder to stabilize the rail movement past the midway point so it doesn’t kick back
I think in order to complete a 180 the rail must only be spun 180 degrees the instant the rider reaches the pivot point of the rail. It's conservation of angular momentum by changing the axes of rotational inertia.
The rail needs way more mass to carry the momentum in the desired direction (for the nerds: yes I mean sense instead of direction but not everyone understands that)
@@robbeelsas Completely agreed. As to avoid making it any longer maybe it'd be worth making this thing from something like Tungsten with some counterweights at each end. It'd be one expensive rail, but it would likely be easier to control for the skater due to the increased inertia. Not to mention more capable of recreating the effect they're trying to here.
So fun! If you try it again, a top down filming angle from straight above the pivot point would probably look amazing.
Andy Anderson needs to visit and try this. I think he might be able to do the full 180.
This is literally one of the greatest skate obstacles of all time. Needs to be a permanent fixture so you guys can get better and better at it. Would also love to see guest skaters give it a spin (
😊
Been watching Braille for over 2 years and this is probably my favorite video y’all have done 👏👍
This is awesome. I think instead of Aaron pushing the rail, you should try to have something tied to the rail and pull it the direction you want it to spin. That way your not worried about being in the way before they start to grind.
One of the more inspired ideas yet. Love this
Aaron falling those two times was the funniest thing I've ever seen
One of the best things you've made! We need some more skaters on this!
You need an electric skateboard as one of the supports for the rail as once past the mid point the push force becomes opposite, so needs a motorised end (the eboard) with Aaron controlling from the side to keep momentum going the same way in this case it would then be as they are saying like skating a curved rail or bowl rim. The motor would need decent torque tho to act against skater weight and speed.
Very cool concept, some fantastic lands, and mostly just great to see these skaters having so much fun puzzling it out
To make it spin more you have to aproach it like an s-rail not a curved/parabolic one. You need to shift your center of mass over the rail cuz past the middle it stops the spin if you keep leaning the same way. hope that helps for further attempts
Love seeing Nigel back in the videos skating weird things
This was awesome!
Obviously you need Andy Anderson to skate this!!!
Obviously
Please invite Andy Anderson to skate this rail or make a bigger version of this rail, I am sure a 180 can be done if there is more hang time. But this make is sick!
This video is absolutely mind blowing! Physics teachers around the world need to use this as a thought experiment. "A straight rail can become a curve."
Also... idea! Tie a rope to the upright piece of the rail on the approach end. Then you could stand BEHIND the rail, pull the rope, and get it to spin without being in the way of the skater.
Skate3Tommy, Aaron Kyro, and the Braille Team... You're all mad men for this one😂
☺️
Honestly, this is one of the best skate videos I've seen in a while. Awesome idea, and it looks so fun! 🥳
And 15:36 omg!!! That was so sick!!! 😆
Thanks so much!!
That was so much fun to watch. Braille is the best!
Nice to see you guys rotate ideas out sometimes the same stuff over and over makes my head spin 😉
Nice. I see u.
I really love the videos you guys make times have changed from 4 years ago look at how far you guys have come.
dude... this one came out of nowhere. i love it!
the curved ledge idea is correct. but for a full 180, you would have to slightly lean on the side to start the spin, when almost hitting the middle, (that being the turning point of the curve) you kick yourself backwards off of a now 90° rail JUST BEFORE reaching the mid-point to get momentum in the other direction and also helping to perpetuate the rail's spin, the principle used being: the closer to the middle, the more force it needs to spin with the same speed, so the force of the kickback would be just enough to "put the other end of the rail" right in front of you on the way back.
i know it's easier said than done and i should try it myself, but me being a whole continent away kinda puts a damper on things. also i don't have the time to properly learn to skate, which is why i watch Braille vids instead.
One of the best videos in some time. Awesome concept, make sure to do a few more videos with this!
This is truly one of the coolest challenges y'all have done! 🤯😁👍One💙Playboy ace
Brilliant challenge, incredible build, and AMAZING skill and commitment from the Braille team!
Thank you guys for producing amazing content. I just got a brand new santa cruz board. This will be my first time skating, you guys have helped so much+
A couple ways you could go.
1. Get with Jeremy Fielding as a collaboration and motorize this rail with a DC variable speed drive.
2. Build a straight quarter pipe on a turn table, DC drive it like above, and a half pipe going to it. The concept is half pipe into the spinning quarter and back to the half pipe.
Get the right input and a full 180 should be possible.
I don’t board and haven’t skated for twenty nine years but love watching your joy in this sport. The way you guys interact is awesome.
it would be way more likely to work of the spinning axis of the rail were slightly tilted at an angle. The easiest way to accomplish this would be to just put this very on a mellow bank. That way you would grind/slide up to the center, turn, and then grind/slide back down.
yeah, that might work. and I also think the rail should only be spinning after the sakter passes the pivot point, this way the center of gravity is only altered once.
Chris got so excited, his face lit up like a Christmas tree when he saw it.
Video suggestion: Could you please do another video where Dani and Chloe are guessing skateboard tricks?
This had me stoked. This was mad different. Big ups to sk8 3 guy! 😆🤙🏼
Thanks! And new skate. guy 😉
Best original idea in a while! Maybe you should weld a push bar to it that mostly is low to the ground/tacked on under the rail so it can be cleared when jumping onto it but still pushed around by someone standing to the side. Think lawnmower handle with a longer bar, maybe?
Loved it! more videos on the new rail!
A spinning manual pad would be super cool! Like a giant lazy Susan that you can shred. Also could put coping on the sides to experiment with grinds… love the videos as always!
This was the video of my morning!!🙌
You gotta use some kind of a drive motor to allow stability and predictability 👌🏻
One of your best videos 🫡
This is great!
If I Ollie onto a box..I get bodied 😂
The braille team are animals!! Whoop whoop!
You need to bring out Zach Doelling, Chris Hiett and Andy Anderson!
An epic suggestion that appears to be a new legit aspect of performance skateboarding.. goes in line with the Cirque de Soliel theme that seems to be generating out of the scene. That is wild the implications of what can now be done with force / movement structuring.
Love the way you put that..
I have cvs (cyclic vomiting syndrome) and yall make my day so much better and way less anxious❤️🤟
you might be able to pull off a full 180 with a longer rail and a smoother rotating axle or bearing whatever your using to get the spin
By far the best video EVA!!
What a cool build. Well done!
Best skateboarding channel
"But the very best thing of all, there's a counter on this ball, try to beat your very best score then you can skip a whole lot more! Come on everybody skip it!" 😆🤣👌 what a flashback love this video and braille 😎♥️
I 100% killed my ankles with that darn toy
@@brailleskateboarding we all did 🤣👌
The boys look like children, a proper reaction, this is sick!
Loved the editing of this video!
Adapt it into a game of Ollie wipeout, everyone has their own spot, spin the rail and stationary Ollie, timing is everything
A game of skate with all yrick done over a grind rail PLEASE yall are awesome! YEEHAW
Nigel misunderstood the physics at first. When you jump on it and your weight gives it a push, after you pass the middle your weight gives it a push in the opposite direction. Stopping the spin. *Solution* : Do it slow and hold the balance like Andy Anderson and someone has to spin the rail after you land on it.
6:04 Glo off the Za😂⛽️
11:40 "get ot of my face Cruz!"
Next you need to motorize the rail to spin at a slow and constant speed.
i love all the vids but if you ever wanna do a back to basics one there's always a manuals contest! you start with like 10 ft marked on the ground and keep marking a bigger length as you eliminate ppl..you can introduce elements like having to do a certain pose or dance as you manual..my friends and i used to have so much fun with this..all you needed was flat ground
Gabe had a clean taper fade💯😌
OMG this is to awesome lmao! you guys are to hysterical haha loved this video so much keep it up you guys always know how to make my day
NEW IDEA 💡💡: Kickflip a Christmas tree (for the Christmas season lol)
Yea we def need jason on this one part 2
"I swing my beat at the playground. Ya Know???"... 😂
We neeed Andy to try this
We really do
Andy Anderson, Daewon Song, Chris Haslam... stuff for the magicians.
I would love to see a sort of locking spoke mechanism in the turning part. like a ratchet strap or one of those kid bikes that brake when you turn the pedals backwards.
Insane skateboarding video
This is insane video idea I loved it Braille
Agreed. I think new park obstacles are next evolution of skating. More ramps and rails with unique angles and curves. More snowboarding style. If you build it, they will come.
Just bought the John hill x Braille shoe. Can’t wait to receive them !
it's just a crazy sliding path, it looks like an "S" shape rail
🔥🔥🔥🤘
Nigel: you have to lean so much into it
Gabe: hey nigel dont forget you have to lean into it🤣😂🤣😂
KYRO ALMOST KILLED MO! lmao
Braille is back boooiiiii
skate3tommy is AWESOME, yall should play skate 3 or the new skate coming out 😁👍
Thanks dude 😊
Braille team NEVER backs down from a challenge
I love this video and that cookies hoodie
Andy Anderson will love this!
Where is Ricky!?? He’s the perfect amount of crazy for that thing!!
So true! We filmed this mere days before he returned from Australia.
I feel like more can happen on this. I’d like to see Andy Anderson figure it out. Also maybe get it on a bank and treat it more like a kick turn? Might help with coming back the way you came.
Would love to see Andy try as well. I know what I did is in game but some physics mattered when I actually landed it. Being at the center of rail as it got halfway around was a big part of it… Or I’m crazy lmao
@@skate3tommy definitely physics involved. Length of rail and speed play a big part. Theirs looks impossible to complete. Needs tweaking
I’m happy Aaron said what he did. Gave dogs people for stuff knowing he’s never try it. Pushes folk to drop in vert and he won’t even try it.
I missed Aaron. Less Gabe voice, more Aaron!
Fun video guys.. would love to try that out
Team work makes the dream work.😉
Hey. Last one... Motorize that rail. 😁Slow spin though.
It’d be cool to see a floor is lava with your craziest inventions as boards and or craziest obstacles
BRO SKATE 3 TOMMY!!!! MY BOY!
🙂 What’s up dude!
@@skate3tommy hahaha dude, the hype was real to see your face on the tv while watching braille today!🙌🏼
Tommy my boi!!!!
The end was bonkers! Bring it back!!!
That was insaaane
This was totally awesome
This has Andy Anderson written all over it boys.
how does this video only have 82k views? This is content gold.
Agreed. Share it with your friends haha
I can't wait for Physics Girl to explain how this is impossible/plausible. Braille is that one place where cooky builds like these actually make sense.
A longer rail plus a rope to pull might help with the challenge.
Great idea
@@brailleskateboarding Just glad to be contributing to the cause.
Great idea!
take tests on the rail grinding slow. take the average time it takes to grind the rail. Then mount the center on a motor and control the motor speed so a half rotation is the time it takes to grind the rail.
Andy Anderson got this.. 🤙🏻
Yes I love SKATE3TOMMEY!
Finally a braille video worth watching.
Hahahaha the most shade compliment ever and I love it.
@@brailleskateboarding haha ur welcome 😂
Way to go guys this was insane! More!
have zach doelling come and hit that! he can play mcnug in the battle of the maroon beanies!
