I wanna think that some programmers or whatever at Popcap did that on purpose as a bit of self aware rebellion. Like "Yeah, we think this is awful and predatory too."
I hate that you can tell that they have an obsession with bonk choy, he’s literally your only attacker in every single level
It's because he's the only melee plant, i hope they atleast vary it with snapdragon and other new plants in the full version
Chomper will be added at some point, along with maybe endurian if they’re keeping him
i mean its the only good plant in the game.. deals high damage with little risk cause of no variaty
I think that's less them being obsessed with bonk choy and more that there just aren't that many good attackers to pick from
Another thing I've noticed this game. On certain levels, the zombie spawning are random. Not just what lane they will spawn, but the AMOUNT and the ZOMBIE TYPE will randomize each attempt. Ranging from a trinkle of basics to an actual rush before the first flag. Only tested this on 70 though.
We kinda knew this due to level 39 getting a Gargantuar in one but not in the other. The issue with this randomness is that is poorly calibrated, making so it can literally rely on luck to win.
It’s an absolute shame that this game isn’t very good cause this is one of the loveliest art styles I’ve ever seen. It’s so vibrant and adorable.
Kinda wish this game doesn't use the title as a sequel to the main series. It functions more like a puzzle game with PvZ gameplay. While the art style is more pleasing than the previous builds, they stripped out anything new and interesting with the mechanics and gameplay.
Sadly, I feel like the devs are not listening to user feedback and just doing what's trendy in the app store atm.
No feedback will stop them from that mobilemaxxing grindset
The most painful thing is when you realize they took water surges from gardenscapes

The funny thing is that the Water Surge levels are the only one levels in which the water has animation instead of a literal cyan block from MS Paint.
I love how they didn’t bother making tile textures for the water levels, so when the entire lawn was submerged, it’s just this light blue rectangle covering the board with no detail or depth whatsoever. Multiple zombies on the same water tile aren’t layered properly, either, so there are water rings on top of other zombies.
Yeah, I had trouble placing my first Sunflowers
I guess this i due as how limited zombies layers are, the water rings layer formula is (Water Ring Layer = Zombie layer +1), meaning that in case there is a Zombie meeting those requirements, they overlap between each other, things that doesn´t happen on PvZ1/PvZ2 as there is a far more amount of layers.
I have to ask then, why does the rain puddle tiles have a distinction between the tiles while the lake water tiles don’t, they could have just reused the puddle ones with some minor color changes

Anyone noticed how the Gargantuan smashing animation looks. The imps body just kinda disappears for a moment when the Gargantuan smashes down.
It looks like it's attached to the arm and the imp body is layered behind the garg body but the head isn't
I loved when Tugboat said "It's tugboatin' time" and tugboated all over everyone in the room. Truly the greatest moment in this franchise.

Yeah. This is like, the 2nd version of it? I hope that they listen to the community and make this at least a decent game. I don't hate the construction of a sort of town, it makes sense that after the events of the first 2 games, they can move beyond 1 house and go see other people's houses and possibly see other people. Or let people construct Garden Warfare 2 style hubs.That seems interesting.
honestly i don't understand why people (mostly RCCH) went as far as to harass the community manager so much. we can hate pvz3.3 as much as we want, but we shouldn't really harass the employees like this. it's just toxic.
@@weakspirit_ yeah it’s unpleasant to see this happening, hopefully with the community rallying together to do that form I was hearing about, the more civil complaints will be heard over the overall misguided behavior of some folk and we can see PvZ3 improve over time. Hopefully
Let's avoid the mistakes of the Angry Birds community with the "Bring Back 2012"
This game is for some reason, extremely like PvZ, yet nothing at all like it. It has some essence of its charm, but the gameplay is just. So. Soul-sucking.
Lets see the changes between a PvZ1/2 and a PvZ3 level in order to understand why (you can skip this section if you already know and jump to the conclusion, which is separated of all of this in my comment):
Evident, prices goes from 1 to 1 instead of multiples of 25.
A great amount of plants (Peashooter, Wallnut, Sunflower, Squash, Snowpea) seems that it has been greatly nerfed in some way or another.
Zombie generation is weird as
Seems as Zombies are more likely to spawn in the same lane, making them harder to aproach with convencional plants not instas.
How often spawn the zombies are time based and completely independt of general Zombie health, which was the norm for PvZ1 and PvZ2
Zombie generation is completely randomized and the increase of waves is way faster, meaning that is very likely to find a conehead as your second Zombie.
Imps are an extremely recurring enemy.
Specials seems to be way less common, limiting to one/two per level, meaning that Basics/Coneheads/Bucketheads/Imps are way more recurrent than usual.
Instas are now power ups.
Plants can´t be picked up.
There are much less change of pace compared to the other two games.

Well, this is due, and this is not an oversimplification nor an insult to disregard the game, instead seems like the design they are approaching, and thats it, be as similar as possible to Candy Crush/Gardenscapes gameplay loop.
This game doesn´t have any passion behind, and only porpuse is only to gain money, which is why I genuely doubt they will listen to us, as PvZ3 being a ripoff of another more famous game seems like the intended vison for the devs since 2019.
The more time passes, the more lifeless PopCap's new content becomes. Just compare the idle and attacking animations of the newer PvZ2 plants to the animations of the previous ones. They look so janky and stiff. It's clear PopCap no longer puts in as much effort as they used to
PopCap can definitely do better. It’s just they want to appeal to the mobile market rather than actual PvZ fans. You could already tell from the start of the game.
Just to add. It has been confirmed there is dynamic difficulty, and it does effect wave spawns and zombie density.
@@RedFalcon-op4hx That might actually make it worse, because if you want the levels to be actually possible, you’re forced to lose lives. One could argue that “infinite brainz” exist, but for casuals, they’ll dry out fast.
About the whole community manager thing, yeah you're right, treating people negatively isn't gonna help the game. For a franchise that has been pronounced dead by the internet, we can only pray and hope that the people behind the game do notice and do care and can pull this franchise out of the water.

I really like how the first zombie that has special mechanics is introduced after 40 LEVELS. WHAT.
The commentary in levels 53 & 60 touched me quite a lot, knowing for a fact you are the kind of person tp see there's still hope for any game you try out.
Level 69 (No joke intended) is a joke level (joke intended) because you figured out how to deal with Pigeon Feeder not even a few levels later. Level 73 was also pretty funny to me with your commentary as well.
Also, if you are a fan of spoilers, spoiler alert, Greaser Imp from PvZ2 is the only one left, I think. I don't think they added anyone else.
I am so sorry your sanity is about to explode like a volcano, so if you want to take a break from this and try playing something else, we'll definitely watch it. You, my man, have in 50% of this video said all lot of true facts and good claims that nobody here disagrees. Keep up the good work❤
There are the swinging zombies if you want to count them. Also there’s not many plants left I think it’s umbrella leaf and I think one more plant and then that’s literally it. Potato Mine, Plantern, A new plant named Silvervale, another new plant named lychee, Kernel Pult, Melon-Pult, and Chomper are all in the files but none of them have been implemented as of now if I recall correct.
(Correct me if my information is wrong)
About Peashooters being weak I counted and it takes around 10 peas to kill and imp in this game and 14 for a basic.
A basic in the original PvZ took around 10 peas to kill. Either the zombies have more health, or everything deals less damage overall, would really like to have help with more damage comparisons if possible.
Edit: counted conehead they take around 30 peas
If this game somehow does well financially I think that will be a good piece of commentary on the attention span of the average person nowdays

I don't know if you mentioned it, but the background for the rain levels are just the same as Dave's Yard but darkened, the sky isn't even cloudy or something, is just less saturated
Honestly, a lot of these things made me sad or disappointed
BUT SEEING LIGHTNING REED BEFORE CABBAGE PULT SUCKED
Cabbage Pult would have been a fine first counter to pigeons but nope, they made the call to make Lightning Reed first the Cabbage Pult second
Then another thing tilted me is that Gargs can be one-shotted by Jalapeno and Cherry Bombs unlike Squash that you need 2 of it
There is a level where cabbage pult is useful
Penny's pursuit as far as i remember had a level, where the only zombies were Dragon imp and Parasol zombie. And the only plants u had to kill them were Winter melon and Snapdragon. So Popcap can pull off cool level designs, so it's really sad to see alot of the levels are mostly the same.

I liked the design PVZ 2 because each world, which could be played in any order offered different plants, zombies, some type of world feature, and each one ended in a boss fight.
I love how flag zombie got bored and started to play around with the squash as they moved it up and down as if the squeaks bouncing around 17:44
Lighting reed should be more powerful when attacking zombies in water
No it should be electricity in the water kinda like tangle kelp except it electrocutes the zombies
I feel like Grapes are pretty good right now. Maybe if it was a "You get ONE per level" thing, but they're supposed to kinda suppliment Lawnmowers.

1:22:15 When I played this level, Gargantuar actually spawns in Lane 1, but I managed to defeat him by just stalling.

The rain is a cool gimmick, and so is the water, but they could have introduced zombies that use both as an advantage, Like bringing snorkel back and they could be slow on ground, but fast in water, and the puddles could have a zombie electrocute them, or slip and speed up on them, or something to make them feel less like a direct power up.

i think the puddles are great, but they should be updated so that plants that don't attack (like Wall-Nut) regenerate health, and single-use plants (like Squash) reach farther or have larger explosions or something
It's a shame that this is the current state of PVZ. The only thing I like about this game is that they aknowledge characters like Patrice and Tugboat which originally appeared in the comics. If only EA never got their greedy mits on Popcap.

They haven’t perfected acknowledging the comics, but it’s a good start. There’s one comic main character, one comic unique zombie, and one comic side character. The others are Crazy Dave, Zomboss, and Moe, our mower.

One thing I do like about this game is the gargantuar have degrades, always appreciated that in pvz 1.
say what you will about PvZ3's first build's visual design or progression system (i agree on all the negative stuff), but at least it added tons of new plants and zombies and this build just.... doesn't have anything? i mean game design is disgustingly hard but i feel like you could introduce a new zombie type (zombies specifically because they seem to just be a few body parts that move, squash and stretch which makes me think it's easier to add them) every 10 levels or so?

why water is in one color? On level 40 it loks like it was added in paint (even background is covered a little by it, you can see half of the mushrom when top lane is in water)

Please add different music, it gets super repetitive after a while. I feel like the devs wanted you to play this in short intervals so I get why the music is like that, but it would be nice if they added midwave music to keep the player interested.
I keep hoping that pop cap is hiding some sort of arg in this game that leads to the real pvz3 like I could make this game in 2 weeks and I've only been programming for 2 years

As much as the rain gimmick is cool, it was during a rain level that I noticed that they even scraped the plant food gimmick from the second game. I understand some people don’t like the plant food thing, but it did cool things with some plants and right after the game they introduced it in, they immediately scrap it in the third game.
Edit: Also, I don’t know if people really hated the gimmick, but they also trashed their new gimmick of taco time. They seriously threw that idea out the window right after the first beta. Talk about short lived.
The first version of PvZ3 actually had plant food so there’s some food for thought

They nerfed peashooter so it kills basics in 14 instead of 10.
Snow peas deal 75% the damage of a peashooter.

For many of the remaining levels, all I can say is prepare yourself… mentally
1:08:00 id actually enjoy seeing heroes in the corner like that family guy/subway surfers trend, not because my attention span is short, but because these levels literally have nothing in them. I swear half the game doesnt even feel like different levels cuz theyre all so similar in the fact that they have nothing engaging or entertaining in them to set them apart
That's actually a good excuse to put that type of gameplay on the side. The gameplay itself is either boring or hair-ripping unfair.
Let's hope they add a level mechanic where we can replay levels or a mechanic where we can pick our own plants.

Hey Flag! I have a suggestion for a Bad Level Design video, Level 10-3 Blind Audition in Pvz eclise
I think one of the reasons so many of the levels feel awful or unnecessary is simply because of the sheer volume of levels they need. Now that this game is like gardenscapes, they need to push out a buttload more levels than before, so that means way WAY less thought is put into them.
The lightning reed animation looks so weird… it’s supposed to be coming out of the head but it’s wayy too low imo.
