Wanna Know My Favorite Disney World Restaurants?

  • Deep breath. I get asked this question ALL the time and I figured it was finally time to do a video about it! BUT...remember that the only thing that's consistent about Disney restaurants is that they're inconsistent. So these are my favorites TODAY...but that may change. :-D Hope this helps with your planning for 2019.

What she said and notes she made
    1. California Grill or Citricos (She said they are high end, and usually for date night/anniversary etc.)
    2. Raglan Road (Fun Irish pub, menu is exciting)
    3. Le Ceiller (A bit expensive, heavy meal, really good steak/poutine)
    4. Garden Grille (Best character meal, family style serving, restaurant physically rotates)
    5. Ohana (Good character meal at breakfast, always a good experience, a lot of meat)
    6. Morimoto Asia (One of her absolute favourites, good even if you don't like Asian food, not a lot of dessert)
    7. Prime Time 50s Cafe (Food is so-so, on the list for the fun factor, castmembers in character)
    8. Victoria and Alberts (Super expensive, $300ish, try get 'chefs table experience' it's more fun)
    9. The Boathouse (Very flexible with menu choices, on the pricey side
    10. Homecomin' (Southern Fried chicken, very casual, relaxed but high end quality)
    11. Via Napoli (Authentically good pizza)
    12. Boma, Jika and Sanaa (all in Animal Kingdom lodge, Sanaa is her favourite because you can see the animals, not great for picky eaters.. Jiki is a date night type, Boma is a buffet with nice soups/fun dessert)
    13. Yak and Yeti (good service, high quality food)

selena lemiec Funny story. So they bring back a $200 bottle of wine and Krystle pores a big glass. She doesn’t like it and was going to squirt some orange gatorade into it. Boy did I grab that glass fast. I never had a 200 dollar bottle of wine before. It was delicious. Bless her heart.

Dear AJ, I had to admit, I'm hopelessly hooked on your channel. I'm (definitely) a lot older than you are (60). I remember when Disney World was a little visitor center. I think the last time I was at the Magic Kingdom was in 1995, took my mom there-she passed the following year. It was more busy and it was hard to find a place to just sit and rest without being harassed by the help, even if one bought a drink or food. I haven't been back, and since looking at your channel, it is unlikely I will visit again in the future. So much population, so many lines and SO expensive (it wasn't cheap when it opened). However, watching your channel and all your updates, I can sort of "visit" without having to deal with the crowds and the price. Thank you so much, you do an excellent job.

I’m going to go in a week AND I CANT WAAAAAIT so many places to eat, and even though I have a place in Orlando and I’m frequently there, you gave me so many options that I didn’t even know about!! I always packed my food to the parks because I thought it was just not worth, but from what I’ve seen from your videos Disney has really come a looong way. Not just dry bad expensive burgers anymore. There’s variety ❤️

Great list. Your list mirrors my list very closely. I couldn’t agree more that the quality of food, service and menu can fluctuate often. Three of our favorites are Tusker House, Boma and Biergarten. We love the food and service at all but because they’re buffet style the food quality can fluctuate drastically. We generally watch for when fresh items are added to the line and hit them as we eat. Raglan Road my be our very favorite place. We usually arrive and depart WDW in the afternoon each of those days. We almost almost always have dinner there on arrival day and lunch on departure day. We’re changing our habits this coming trip however and are going to try Homecomin’ for the first time on departure day. I hope it’s as good as everyone says it is. Again...Great list. Thanks for sharing.

Whole heartedly agree about California Grill. The braised beef wontons were amazing but the charcuterie board was ok. I had the Braised pork shank which was dry but the accompaniments were cooked perfectly and well balanced. My husbands oak fired filet was perfect! When we go back we’re both getting the filet! Thanks for your work on this video, Victoria and Albert’s Chef’s table has been added to the bucket list!

I appreciate the honest mention how none of the restaurants are good all the time and they're pricey. You can tell a lot about the Disney food by this review. My experience has taught me that it is best to eat offsite if possible. The Tangierine in Epcot is pretty good and my picky nieces and nephew love it. The two little ones can get nuggets and burgers and the older one loves the platters. This is our favorite overall and pretty consistent.

Such a helpful video AJ xx Just want to mention that at Raglan Road you do not want to be seated right next to the side of the stage as you cannot see the entertainment, the stage lights will shine in some peoples eyes and the speakers are right there me and my family had to ask to move from a table in this area to which the staff were quite accommodating. Not to put a downer on a great restaurant ❣️

This really helped me make a decision about which restaurant to choose. I went to the wave a few years ago and was blown away by how good the food was. I was considering leaving a park early to go there. Your point about inconsistentency has helped me decide that it's probably not worth it when we are going for a short trip.

AJ I like how you say "Ohana is a great place to go when you arrive and just need a place to eat that night..."
Haha only if you got a reservation 3-6 months prior to your vacation date. Ohana is probably the 2nd hardest restaurant to get a reservation in with BoG being the hardest.

I noticed that these are all table service restaurants. What are your favorite quick service places for those of us who can only afford the quick service dining plan? For me it would be the World Premier Food Court at All-Star Movies, Columbia Harbor House in the MK, and Restaurantosaurus and Satuli Canteen at AK. I would also give a special nod to the Eight Spoon Cafe cart in AK for that awesome BBQ pulled pork mac and cheese.

My first visit to Yak & Yeti was so amazing! On our following trip (January this year) there was no question we were going to eat there again but it was the completely opposite experience. Service was horrendous! We have two young kids and we were waiting almost an hour for our meals to come out and then another 25 mins after the meal for dessert (which was messed up but we didn’t bother sending back). Turned me off of them and won’t go back for awhile.

Le Cellier -- Where else can you get Maple Creme Brulee?! Citricos -- Great food and as a bonus you get to watch people all dressed up entering Victoria & Alberts! Raglan Road -- If the food was half as good I would still go there for the great entertainment. Morimoto -- the last thing I want at an Asian restaurant is dessert! Via Napoli -- a longtime favorite, but the last 2 times I ate there I got a soggy crust; not in a hurry to go back. Yak & Yeti -- a regular spot for me. Seafood curry, and last time I had the best chocolate cake I have ever had *anywhere*.

Garden Grill was awesome! Honestly I got so much food I wasn’t even close to finishing it. Great place if you love to eat. California Grill was also great. I loved Artist Pointe. Ate there twice. The restaurant has a really great atmosphere. The first time it was raining and with the lodge feel and the trees, it really did make me feel like I was back home in WA state. I’m going back to WDW next month and I did have a reservation for 50’s Prime Time, but I had already booked a dinner show and didn’t want to be in restaurants all day so I just cancelled it. Same reason I cancelled Citricos. I am going back to Be Our Guest for my first dinner there. Their linch is good, but I wanted to see what the hubbub at dinner was all about.

Great Video AJ! We just ate at Boma about three weeks ago and found the food amazing! The quality was great and there was something for everyone - even picky eaters! We highly recommend Boma and can't wait to go back! We're in the process of putting up our Animal Kingdom Lodge videos and will have our Boma Review up soon! We also recommend Olivia's at Old Key West - Just keep it a secret and don't tell anyone!

I feel like all of a sudden a lot of the Disney CZcamsrs and podcasts are talking about Olivia’s a lot. I knew nothing about it 6 months ago, but I’ve heard it mentioned on at least a weekly basis on different channels for the last few months. I don’t see it staying a hidden gem for long....

Your point about things changing is on point. I used to love the Yachtman's Steakhouse but after our summer 2018 meal there I will never go back again. The food was mediocre and the service was only okay. For what I paid, I was ripped off.

I'm surprised that most of these I have been to! We don't do a lot of table service restaurants to have more time in the parks. But I've enjoyed California Grill, Garden Grill, 50's Prime Time, and Le Cellier.
I really love San Angel Inn for the food and the atmosphere!

We love Homecommin' and always have the charcuterie and the cakes for sure. We're having Christmas dinner there :) My s/o loves Yak and Yeti, but every time we've eaten there it was absolutely frigid. If we're eating there, I'll bring at the least an extra sweater or even a jacket. Not kidding. We're also having New Years dinner at Morimoto Asia, based on the recommendations I've read, and can't wait for that too :)

Just came home from WDW on Sunday (boo hoo). Had meals at three of AJ's picks! Raglan Road in Disney Springs, Sanaa, and Yak & Yetti. All were wonderful. Yak and Yetti had some special new menu items supposedly designed by different chefs. We had the salmon and a Korean Meatball and noodle dish. Both were yummy, and my boyfriend said the salmon entree was the best he'd had all week. He had the very non-Asian dessert of truly New York style cheesecake. He said it was baked just right. Our server was also great there.
We were lucky and scored a great seat in the main part of Raglan Road for watching the several sets of the great dancing and music. Many areas of the restaurant are away from the viewing area, which too many people aren't aware of. The dessert - their version of bread pudding, was truly excellent. The male server was a little too attentive, pushing specific entrees so hard it was as if he'd get a commission if we ordered them! Just made us laugh a bit.
You can't beat Sanaa for the animal views, and we waited an extra 10 minutes to get a window table. The room's atmosphere is already themed beautifully anyway. We really enjoyed their famous bread service and the bowls of butter chicken and the fish. We again had a wonderful waitress.

I will say though, I never a bad experience or hated the food at any place inside or out I have eaten at. I pretty much listed all that I went ate on rankings video in different parks, but notice that so far there is no ranking or mentioned Disney's Boardwalk. I went there for dinner and afterwards we didn't go ever far to go play the Fantasia mini golf. The Boardwalk is really nice to walk around and they have some restaurants. One is a chain, ESPN, but I think the rest are individually owned. We went to the Big River Grille and Brewing Works. They serves burgers, pizza, sandwiches, soups & salads, desserts. The beer list is good and the food was good as well. I believe I had the lobster bisque (which I'm a fan of) and grilled chicken and avocado sandwich with potatoes chips. I enjoyed it and no one had anything negative to say about their food. We were seated by the windows and view is nice especially when the sky is setting.

Mine is hands down BLAZE fast fir'd Pizza in Disney Springs (Downtown Disney) with the create your own pizza for only $10 (I went back at least 4 or 5 times during my trip). I also loved the brisket sandwich $8-ish in a restaurant (forgot the name) near the festival center in Epcot. I also loved the creole cheese steak po' boy in Sassagula at Port Orleans- French Quarter (it was $15... yikes! But it was delicious.) And I also loved the Boozy Beignet (Bailey's one. It was $8 for three of them.) Everything else was really too expensive.

We had an unfortunate and horrible experience at California Grill recently. Very poor service and food was cold. We were comped a 400 dollar dinner for 6 of us. I would like to try it again on a weekend. Wednesday was likely the worst night and first time servers perhaps. Wish it would have been better.
