Same problem as I had on my Pole Stamina 180, they originally recommended a 350 spring for my weight, but the bike always felt pretty bad. I then bought a 300 RockShox spring and it felt great on slow, janky stuff, but on bigger stuff I was bottoming too much and there was no support. I then got a Sprindex 290-320, it was fine in the 320 position for most riding, but still not enough support and didn't feel dialled almost anywhere. Then I bought another Sprindex (340-370), and turns out that the 350 position on that is quite perfect for most riding, so it was just the RS spring being way out of tolerance. There is no way that the original 350 is actually a 350, since the Sprindex set to 370 is still softer than the RS 350 spring. Now that I've got the spring-rate correct, the bike absolutely flies.
I feel like the rockshox springs are about 25-50 lb stronger than others at the same written rate. So a rs 400 would be close to equivalent to a fox 450
@@mtbtelly5522 Experimented with preload on all springs actually. I could get the bike to feel a bit more supportive with plenty of preload, but honestly, it just made the bike feel pretty shitty. Even with the preload the stroke was too "weak" and I lost some sensitivity. Now that I've found the 340-370 Sprindex, I couldn't be that much happier with the setup, since I can run virtually no preload, have enough sensitivity and I very rarely bottom the rear-end in such a way that I can feel it. Also I had to run some (excess) LSC on the springs that were too soft but on this one I have no need for it as I've got enough support to really drive the bike into holes and stuff, and the suspension design is extremely good at pedalling, no bobbing, but also plenty of plushness and grip. By the way, I'm about 77kg with gear for context.
@MTB Telly how does this mullet in the climbing department? I watched your video last time and you had a toothache not sure if you have tested this on the uphill. Thank you!
Your guess is right! They did put together the rear of the 27.5 with the frame of the 29.
Looks like the medium rear triangle from the 27.5 was used on all mullet sizes, wgere the large 27.5 has the same 437 chainstay as the 29er

sounds expensive
@@arloridesbikes9921 Yeah 🤬
Did you go back and forth with preload on the RS 300 at all?

Its still oversprung so I can’t judge the climbing yet, but the geo feels comfortable climbing.
@@mtbtelly5522 Thanks would love to hear from your future video about how does it perform uphill. Subbed!
@@MichaelJobLoquellano will do!
What is your weight if you don't mind me asking? Was the large in your height range?
I’m 75-77kg dressed to ride, and 174 cm tall. The large feels good even with 481 reach. I like the short chainstay as well
As far as i know the progression is arround 27,6%. (according to a PB article) So great guess (:
Bam!
Interested on how your getting on with that tire combo
I ditched the Dissector and put my DD max grip DHF out back. But starting to get comfy with the Assegai for sure
I’ll get a maxx grip exo on the way for a long test
@@mtbtelly5522 was wondering how that terra would feel as a summer roller. Finding The maxx grip Assegai is like finding rocking horse 💩
@@nigehill yeah it looks like they’re non existant at the moment. Gonna have to dig deep to find one
Canyon ship the bike with a 350 spring as well, so the owner should have one you can swap in.
This is a large so it came with a 400 and a 450
How you compare to patrol
I’ve been waiting on a 350 spring to test this thing properly, so once that’s done I’ll have a good idea of how this thing goes
