If I was going to use my phone for a hotspot for something like this I would just stream the games on my phone. Basically have access to all the same games and all I’d need is a snap on controller and I’m good with wifi and 5g.
Yeah. I'd be tempted to buy a dedicated handheld, I don't like the ergonomics of using a phone with a separate controller, or the way it runs your battery down. We all need our phones for other things and if you're travelling, the last thing you want is for it to die. But like you say if you're running a hotspot that'll probably happen anyway...

I made a device like that with a spare phone with a snapdragon 845 and a gamesir x2 controller and it was way cheaper then that thing and it plays aethersx2
It's the only name brand device of its kind. I'll agree the price is a little high for its specs but not completely unreasonable when you factor in everything. The closest comparable handheld for sale is the Odin Lite and it can be close to $320 after Shipping and import taxes depending on where you live, if you ordered the Odin today you would be waiting until next summer before you got one. You also would get shady customer support and crappy sticks. If the Odin breaks they just mail you the replacement parts instead of replacing it which isn't a big deal to some. I think the majority would of been happy with a $199 price tag but that would leave Logitech little room to put it on sale and still make profits. If you can't afford the device I'd recommend a cheap or older android phone paired with a X2 pro controller.

Picked up one brand new un opened from a pawn shop dor $150 bucks and i use it more than my switch oled and almost as much as my lenovo legion this device is so underrated everyone who has shit to talk about it has never used it i promise people talking about my phone does all that true but not a phone on the market with a 7" screen in this aspect ratio its huge, its by far and again i have a lenovo legion the best and simplest emulation device, streaming from the cloud or your xbox runs buttery smooth, battery life is insane, and it feels so good in hand the ergonomics are brilliant. I wouldnt recommend anyone by one for the $300 list price but if you come across a deal like i did at a pawn shop or from markwr place, offer up etc for between $150-200 bucks and its new i would recommend you pick it up to anyone. I promise youll be presently suprised. Has tv out usimg a hdmi to usb c cable

This thing is supposed to be a good way of avoiding having to use your phone with that projected 12 hours of battery. Having the hotspot on your phone all the time would just drain the battery. Plus it supports android games and those need internet for the most part. This thing essentially keeps you tethered to your house. Yeah your home wifi is going to be the best place for a reliable connection but still.

299 is a bit much. Got mine at 250, still a bit high but on a different network this works better than cloud on your phone. I want to say I've had maybe twice where the games felt like they were playing catch up but i was a little further away from the WiFi, i don't get that same screen tear like on my Samsung phone and tablet where it's like it's trying to smooth itself out. Frame rates are actually pretty consistent. I didn't think i would use this just sitting around in my house because i have an oled monitor but i actually use it for a decent amount of time before i finally decide i want to get up and actually turn on my xbox. Not trying to justify my purchase, was actually looking for reasons to take it back to best buy but i think I'm gonna hold on to this thing. Screens big enough to pretty much help me save space when carrying around my gaming laptop. Need a connection for my laptop anyway for what i play so why not
If it wasn’t cloud, then it would be a good start. The issue is that since it’s cloud, all it really needs is battery and internet. It barely needs storage so they can slap an sd card in there and it’s all good. Since it’s not actively running the game, the hardware is not as good by comparison, and that’s why it’s a slim form factor. While it’s hard to compare steamdeck to this, as a handheld device, it’s a technological marvel that they managed to cram as much performance in that they could, while making it as slim and not terrible to hold due to overheating. It allows for insane storage for its form factor, and it’s not cloud. That’s the biggest thing. Cloud = lesser performance on the actual hardware, which makes it so cheap by comparison. As all it needs is the internet to be fast enough and just powerful enough to give Audio, and visual to be nice. It isn’t physically running the game in front of you Onboard storage = better hardware to render the game in front of you, has the actual higher end performance given to you because it actually needs it to be up to a higher standard so it isn’t unplayable.
I really want a similar device that only serves 1 purpose. Cloud Streaming. This one's good with the advertised 12 hours battery life but the problem is the price. 300$ for a deivce that does this is pretty expensive. I could just buy Razer Kishi Controller for 50$ at BestBuy and use my phone on it for cloud streaming.

Onboard storage = better hardware to render the game in front of you, has the actual higher end performance given to you because it actually needs it to be up to a higher standard so it isn’t unplayable.

Ridiculous pricing. Buy a Retroid Pocket 3 for $150 instead. You can do all that
only reason it's 299 and 12 hour battery is because it's missing every feature included with the better devices
I really want a similar device that only serves 1 purpose. Cloud Streaming. This one's good with the advertised 12 hours battery life but the problem is the price. 300$ for a deivce that does this is pretty expensive. I could just buy Razer Kishi Controller for 50$ at BestBuy and use my phone on it for cloud streaming.
