There's lots of mutants I've liked, but by far Iceman for the longest time was one of my favorites. I always loved the cold, so the ability to manipulate it and to have snow/ice all the time was something I always dreamed of LOL.

Overall great content as always, bur Cyclops optic blast did NOT melt the ice. They do NOT produce heat. It's pure concussive force and the panel you showed clearly shows the optical blast shattering the ice, not melting it.
You do know that heat is basically kinetic energy at subatomic levels right? Like things get hot because the atoms "bump" around with greater speed or energy.
I know that the X-men is made up pseudoscience, but you trying to explain it with real science shows you just failing hard.

I wonder how long it will be until Angel and Beast are also retconned (if that's how you spell that) into being OP. I'm old enough to remember Wolverine being that guy who was easy to knock down, even kill... but he just didn't stay that way and took a LONG time to actually regenerate after healing (like regrow an eye or vanish a scar) while his claws were also bionic implants. Jean Grey was the first to hit the gas in becoming OP, but they had an alien force possess her for that. I imagine them rewriting Beast as the X-Men version of being Smart Perma-Hulk, like Bruce was in the latest Avengers movie. Not even hollow bones nor super-strong birdlike wings can have a human fly like Angel, I can't wait to see how the next generation makes him better. I bet they make Cyclop's eye blasts stopped by ruby lenses a psychological thing in later incarnations.

Pretty much especially when it comes to "well my character can beat your character" arguments come up. Like for example lets say Cyclops is vulnerable to electricity, then when Cyclops fights an electric shooting character who is gaining popularity then all of a sudden the writers will have Cyclops be invulnerable to electricity. They do this crap with characters like Thor, Wolverine and Hulk all the time. Basically they are only over-powered or given an over-powered power increase when they have no argument as to how they could beat this other character.

So, after being really close to her for an entire summer, I got a bad habit of spelling everyone with that name her way... the "guy's name" way. Parents don't follow "correct names and spellings" here in the USA... lots of people here do it quite absurdly and even make up "colorful" names that are often previously non-words.

I think one of the worst was Darwin. His body can adapt to survive anything. He's absorbed energy in the comics easily enough, even literally turned into energy. He could have survived that energy that Shaw put into his body, but nope...let's just easily kill one of the most unkillable mutants in the X-Men.

It's a sloppy retcon done to get ahead of the Alphabet Cult revolution and early DEI/DIE example, forced and awkwardly done... lost 70% of such examples over the past 10 or so years in Western media.
How are you going to say Iceman isn't gay when they just made it happen in the comics. In real life gay men deny who they are and live fake lives, have families, wives etc. So why can't a fictional character have this arc, or a new one?

I've followed Iceman for more than 40 years, and it upsets me to no end that he's now gay all of a sudden... Especially when all he's been with for the last 40 years were with women. I feel like the writers at that time were getting pressure from online trolls, and Marvel felt the peer pressure from those comic subscribers, so they blinked. Northstar, and a host of others were already existing gay mutants, so I'm not sure why Marvel couldn't just create another gay character instead, or make Iceman bisexual to appease OG fans, and the LGBT community.

@@subteeninhumansamuraiamphi5019 I disagree that he's never been popular. It's up to the writer to make him popular, not fans. They write him, therefore they have the control. Mike Carey was one of the few writers that thought outside of the box to do research on the different ways to use his powers besides ice beams and ice slides. Iceman was a complete badass when he had his solo specials or stories that evolved around him, AND he's one of the very few Omega level mutants that can affect the entire planet without giving it much thought. Remove his humorous personality, and give him some challenges, and you got yourself a compelling character.
