    If you can afford it and you time it correctly you could get both subscriptions which come every other month. Set it up so you end up getting one box every month so you can constantly introduce new items to your baby (although there is some overlap as mentioned).

      That's a great idea to spread it out so you get a box every month.

  • @teachingmama5
    @teachingmama5 Před 3 lety +3

    Something that you may want to add for those who don't know.....the value of the box goes beyond the cost of the items in the box. The MOST value is in the research and instruction of the neurodevelopmental stage of the child and how the parent might be able to interact with their child with the toys at a particular age. I know at least Lovevery has a guide - Kiwi might too. Glad to hear that not only is the value worth it for the toys but even more worth it considering the research behind it with the educational value !

    Thanks for making these videos. We decided to go with the Lovevery subscription for my 2-wk-old despite the price and my annoyance with their weird name (Lov Every? Love Very? It's a mystery!). If I make these pretty much the only toys we buy, it's actually a good value. God knows I bought my first two kids plenty of flashing plastic crap for $20-$40 a pop, much of which failed to hold their interest for more than a play session or two. Hopefully we'll have better luck with the Lovevery toys.
    Also, props on the name Alastair, I never got to use it, but by far one of my favorite boy names!

      I not 100% but I call them Lov Every lol. I agree the quality of these toys are much better than most of those store plastic ones! It took my wife awhile before were actually aged in a name until we got to Alistair.

    Both boxes are great. Love every includes some more traditional hard wood Montessori themed toys which seems to account for the higher price. Things like the object permanence box. These items can cost quite a bit alone. You can also find some of these items on Etsy. With Etsy you can often times get better prices. I think the pre made boxes offer a lot of convenience plus they come with information on child development which saves a lot time for working parents. If your budget allows you can get both boxes. I personally would pick the love every (id I had to pick one) because of the larger toys that do not come in the kiwi box. I also like that you know exactly what you get.

    Hi, thanks for your video. I really like both subscriptions but Ultimately decided on kiwico over loveevery. I couldn't find a 2 month box for $80 through lovevery they only offered a $120 box every 3 months. I like the thought of getting the panda crate every 2 months instead of waiting 3 months for a lovevery box. I think the panda crate by kiwico is an excellent value and my son enjoys everything in the box so far. We can't wait to receive our next panda crate.

    • @kevin-lu
      @kevin-lu  Před 3 lety

      The $80 2 month boxes are only for 0-12 months. After that they jump to the 3 month $120 boxes. The panda crates are great still. My son enjoys many of the toys from those boxes.

    Hello single mom here🙋🏻‍♀️! I truly value your opinion. My little one is 3 months old. He seems to be a little behind his milestones. Is it overkill to purchase the first two boxes at once? Price isn’t really an issue for me. I just don’t want to spend needlessly if the 3/4 month old box is good enough for him. Thanks!

    • @kevin-lu
      @kevin-lu  Před 4 lety +1

      I think the 3/4 box would be good enough for him. The focus of the first box was mainly high contrast toys, which the 3/4 still has some of the black and white card sets. The 3/4 box is a great one as my little boy is still interested in the toys and he's almost 6 months.

    Great video, thanks for sharing your review and the contents!
    I saw that the Lovevery box also comes with some sort of play card / instruction manual and several other reviews I've read have indicated that those elements provide a good deal of value in terms of how to use / play with your kiddo. Do you feel the same way - do both kits come with these and are the instruction manual / guides pretty similar?

    • @kevin-lu
      @kevin-lu  Před 4 lety +2

      Both boxes actually come with guides, but the Lovevery one is more in depth and goes into age appropriate things that are going on with your child. Both comes with instructions/guide on how to use the toys. Lovevery might have a slight advantage, but KiwiCo isn’t far behind in the reading material section. KiwiCo also comes with a mini magazine with info about the box.

      The Lovevery gym is a separate purchase from the play kits. The two companies do have toys that overlap. Both boxes I reviewed in this came with a hand-to-hand disc. They weren't identical though as one was smaller and unpainted, while the other was larger painted black and white.

    Thank you for this detailed comparison! I'm guessing your son is now 16-17 months old (they grow so fast, right?!) from the time of this video, are you subscribed to lovevery or kiwico? and do you think these kits are providing value to your child's development? • @kevin-lu
      @kevin-lu  Před 4 lety +17

      I think that both boxes do teach very similar skills over the course, BUT Lovevery has the edge in consistency. With Lovevery you know exactly what you get depending on your baby's age. KiwiCo is more like traditional subscription boxes, each month is a surprise. Also Lovevery does come with more items per box so you also feel like there's more to teach your baby.

    •  Před 3 lety

      @@kevin-lu Can I add on this; I am not sure whether you compared both boxes for the development of babies up until 36 months or in general, but in general Lovevery is focused on development of kids 0-3 y.o. taking inspiration from Montessori approach. KiwiCo is focused on Science,Technology, Engineering Art, Math. If you were comparing only up until 36 months, ok.

      Yup you can cancel at anytime with either company. KiwiCo does have options to buy a couple in advance for savings. I don’t think you can get a refund on those prepurchased ones.

      I don’t think it’s too late. Both companies offer boxes for 12+ months.

      Kevin Lu thank you, Kevin!
      One more question, for 12+ months’ kid, you will recommend Kiwi or Lovevery?

      Are you referring to the Lovevery box? I know that one a child reaches 13+ months the boxes jump to $120 per box, but you only get one box every 3 months instead of 2.

      Kevin Lu so kiwico is only 20$ for 2 months whereas love every is 40$ for 3 months and just one box.

      Mehak Hussain So KiwiCo is essentially $20 per month, but you only get one box every other month. Which is basically $40 per box. Lovevery months 13-24 is $40 per month, but only one box every 3 months. Basically making it $120 per box.
