0:26 Could you imagine if Normandie hadn't burned and was fully converted/painted for troop transport and you saw this coming at you all painted in battleship grey? Would be terrifying yet amazing
Excellent! This is the 1st time I have encountered Normandie's siren. The fact that you went through the trouble of finding a recording of her siren and included it here shows real dedication. Liked et subscribed.
The Normandie had four whistles. Technically, a Smith Hyson 3-chime whistle (the one on the end) that was primarily used when she was docking. Her main voice were the two Kockums 500 Tyfon's that many liners like the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and Canberra had. Her final one was a powerful steam siren, many military ships had them in case fog rolled in or as a alarm or warning device.
Search up “normandie new york”. Video is from the British Pathe (in French) when she completed her maiden voyage and was greeted in the Hudson by smaller ships.
@@Aguywholikesspace if it was white star line it would still be ss, since the normandie was a steam ship (SS) and not a royal mail ship. (RMS) i hope this helps.
The loss of The Normandie is one of the saddest stories ever. She is, in my eyes, the most beautiful superliner to have ever sailed

Where was the three chime whistle located on the ship, please? I can see the Tyfon trumpets on the funnels, but I'm unsure where the whistle is.
