The Tate murders had nothing to do with Roman Polanski. Manson targeted the house because record producer Terry Melcher had previously rented the house, they met through Beach Boy Dennis Wilson hoping Melcher would produce Manson’s music, but he declined. After seeing Manson’s behavior he completely cut ties with him & Manson was pissed. Melcher had a bad feeling & quickly moved out of the house with girlfriend Candace Bergen. Polanski & Tate then rented the house & Manson came for Melcher, leaving no witnesses.
