I've been all over the place. control warrior, miracle rogue, midrange hunter, handlock, zoolock. So far my favorite deck is Control warrior; followed my Midrange Hunter.
I've also been playing Raging Worgen otk and it's doing suprisingly well. I'm at gold 10 right now and have a 80% winrate with a small sample size.

So far I've tried Zoolock, Handlock, Control Warrior, Freeze Mage, and Miracle Rogue. Having a lot of fun without all the ridiculous powercreep cards that were added over the years. The only deck I'm really missing is the old Patron Warrior, but that was only possible after the Blackrock expansion.

It's so different, it feels like a super intensive resource management game to me now. It's really striking because back when I first played this game, I didn't understand a lot of these concepts or the overall feel of the game, so going back to the Classic meta with all of that understanding is a really cool experience. I feel like I'm developing so much new appreciation for it.

Small things like that positioning error at the end were really impactful back in the day. It’s a shame that it’s not really the case anymore unless you’re in a mirror match. This is from a wild player’s perspective where the decks are so powerful and people get away with dumb plays and awful positioning most of the time.

Barely any random resource generation back in the day means fighting for card advantage is a real thing
Also, because you're fighting for card advantage, card draw was at a premium. This was especially true due to how little card draw mechanics there were back then
Even a 4 mana 2/4 Gnomish Inventor that did nothing except few you a card was good enough to see play (barely), due to how premium card draw was
It's the reason why Druids preferred to look for other removals like BGH instead of playing the removal card of their class - Naturalize
Even though it was great tempo being able to remove an opponent's minion for 1 mana, giving your opponents two free card draws was almost crippling, so the card didn't see too much play
Like many other cards at that time, Naturalize was delicately balanced over the value of card draw
It was also the reason why Arcane Intellect, a 3 Mana do nothing card was considered really good, because it drew you two cards
But then Blizzard went nuts with random resource generation in the game, and at some point, people realized that hey letting your opponents draw two cards wasn't such a big deal anymore. Druid decks even evolved to find a way to make use of the mechanic to try and mil some of your opponent's card
It's an example of how Blizzard broke the "economy" of the game and caused many cards that were balanced to become either useless or broken
They didn't seem to understand that there was an established standard as to how much is the cost of card draw, and that was a very important ground rule that governed the balance of the game
And by screwing with that cost by arbitrarily introducing a sh*t load of random resource generation, they broke the balance of the game and cards that weren't a problem before become either OP or useless
It was frustrating to watch Blizzard do this, it felt as if they had no idea about how their own game worked
Of course, random resource generation eventually got so out of hand that today HS is basically about who gets luckier in generating random cards
There's no more budgeting your resources around your opponent's removals or fighting for card advantage, most of the time you just put in as many cards that generate cards into your deck and hope you generate better cards than your opponent
