If someone invited me to watch a movie about Elvis, Jesus, Caesar, the shroud of Turin, Roman coins, drug addiction, giant teddy bear, a bag full of filed chips of silver, and graphic scenes of dying of overdose falling off a toilet seat covered in blood with your bare behind up, I would have definitely passed. And I loved this video.

It’s a good message brother. Elvis was an idol to many, myself included. I’d been an Elvis fan my whole life and five minutes into that movie, I could watch it no more. It’s pure fantasy, nothing more. Or maybe I’m just losing my desire for many things of this world since discovering Christ. Jesus is the only One worthy of worship, amen.

Thank you brother David. I think I judged you one time when you spoke at a church in my city, and during the worship time I peeked to see if you were raising your hands to praise God and you weren't. As if the level of one's hands during a song indicates a person's level of holiness. Anyway, I've been backsliding for a while now and the Lord continues to remind me I need to give myself (and others) to Him. Thanks for making and posting this needed message. The Father seeks those who worship in Spirit and truth. Thank you for doing so, through sharing the gospel (which is the message of the cross and the power of God) and remaining steadfast. Much better than simply raising one's hands in church. We should all be like the 45 degree angle mirror, looking up and pointing others to look up to Jesus
I recently searched how Elvis was discovered dead. Terrible. The music business is not good for people. They create stars and give them millions, but in exchange these stars often pay for it with their life. People should stop going crazy for celebrities. It’s not good for them.

Elvis was a Christian, he won his grammy for his gospel recordings, he also made the song " HOW GREAT THOUGH ART" famous in the USA and the English speaking world. There is also a very famous clip on the internet when a female fan lifts up a sign saying "Elvis is King" and he stopped the music and told her that Jesus is King." Elvis was also known to invite entertainers over to his suite and that included the Beatles and made them sing gospel songs all night. I know that Elvis did not always live a godly life, he had drugs and booze around him with a lot of young beautiful women, and I am sure he enjoyed himself. I have a feeling that at the end of his life Elvis was very lonely man, he was a prisoner in his home , couldn't go out to a mall without starting a riot, and he was surrounded by "hanger ons". David my dad who was born the same year as Elvis and died 18 months later on the toilet from a heart attack, so this is not an uncommon event.

Off topic, but my mother had a tiny Roman coin her brother dug up when he lived in Italy. She always kept it in her purse. Once she was on a long plane flight and the steward entertained the passengers with a seated scavenger hunt from their purses and carry-ons. She won with the oldest coin.

I recall Elvis replied in an interview that he did not consider himself "a king", that he was just "an entertainer - that's all". Elvis knew the Gospel quite well because Gospel music was his favorite genre of music and he knew the lyrics (at the very least, Elvis knew Who Jesus was and still is - His Savior - although he may not have lived his life in proper obedience to Jesus - he appeared to have been aware that he was blessed by God in a special way - that his fame and fortune was not "man-made" but came from above). Apparently, a paperback book about the burial cloth of Jesus was found where he passed away - so he may have been reading about the Shroud of Turin at the moment of his death. His attitude, his character, his humility, his generosity, his amazing talent and charisma - when you think of Elvis - you have to think that (although he was troubled in many ways) - he was a colossal figure that shook the world and we can only hope and pray that he will be found written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Only God knows.
These videos are always very meaningful to me, I think about the Star Trek one very frequently! Btw the heretic Arius also died on a toilet, or rather a latrine, during his parade while returning after the Council of Nicea. The historical account is quite graphic, lots of blood and prolapse and even falling into the latrine, after the minister Alexander prayed that God would not allow Arius to return with his heresy. We humans are not meant to be the focus of such idolatrous worship - let us use our gifts to bless others and point to the true God. We see Paul & Peter & John being worshipped in Acts, and they always quickly return the focus to God.

Don’t use the word “steal” when referring to Elvis. He was an original and created his own style. The only Artist to be inducted into 5 different Music Halls of Fame. He’s been more immitated than any other Artist in history and influenced more Musical Artists than any other in history. People stole from him! He truly is the King of Music.

the one thing I do like about Elvis's last moments is that by desiring and searching for the face of God so to speak, he was removed from his "false throne" and (at least I hope for his sake) returned back to where he truly belongs; in the presence and domain of God
Some charismatic Churches say that that text indicates that you are supposed to pay your taxes but also pay the Church. But your interpretation is spot on. Your life belongs to your Creator. And it is only natural that you should give your life to Him.
That passage of the Bible regarding paying taxes was the moment I committed to Jesus at age 10. It was 5th grade. We were studying the constitution. I was in a public school: half Jewish, half catholic, half Protestant; we all loved each other. But history, civics, social sciences is “my” gift of sorts, I was a prodigy in that. I knew the history of the wars of religion, and the holocaust. We studied the constitution which made the United States the first officially secular government - which eliminated the wars of religion. Then the priest said, “as Catholics we believe in separation of church and state. That was it for me. That was divine wisdom to me. Jesus’ statement proved his divinity to me right there. Nowadays, Catholics have abandoned that teaching, and have become muslims, in that they conflate religion and politics, so I am now a recovering Catholic. Now some fundamentalist will say, but he was only talking about paying taxes: a very narrow view of the episode. It doesn’t square with what Jesus said elsewhere about other things. In particular the Prodigal Son parable. That parable explains, simply, the purpose of the gift of free will: God wants us to find our way to him via our own volition. It’s so important that Jesus died for that (another story). We must be free to seek our own truth, and in finding a truth, as St. Augustine said, we find God. So each of us have a different prodigal journey to make. And in it is important and advances us in that journey if we are in a secular governance. So there you have it, Jesus, unlike Mohammed, advocates for separation of state. If you disagree with this, you are saying to me, that, well, while Jesus knew a lot about religion, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to civics. I’m sorry for you - because what Jesus has to say about civics is very deep, very complex, unfortunately scattered about the gospels, and thousands of years ahead of its time - but despite being scattered around the gospels, there is a coherent, cohesive system of civics described in the Gospels. Remember Jesus said, he came to give us life, life lived to the ful, (John 10:10). It therefore is not a coincidence that the civilization spawned from the teachings of a 1st century Jewish carpenter was the first to land a man on the moon. Now one surprising affect that early revelation had on me was: I never understood Paul’s statement: “if Jesus had not risen from the dead our faith is in vain” (well I’m still a little misunderstanding of that) because to me Jesus was God and proved he was God when he said “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s - that was irrefutable divine wisdom in my mind, so it kind was, for me, that I already found him divine whether or not he rose from teh dead - his teaching was all that inspired.

It’s a good message brother. Elvis was an idol to many, myself included. I’d been an Elvis fan my whole life and five minutes into that movie, I could watch it no more. It’s pure fantasy, nothing more. Or maybe I’m just losing my desire for many things of this world since discovering Christ. Jesus is the only One worthy of worship, amen.
Elvis was humble and he never forgot about the status of Jesus. He owed everything to Jesus. He wanted to do more Gospel songs but was prevented.

Elvis was a Christian, he won his grammy for his gospel recordings, he also made the song " HOW GREAT THOUGH ART" famous in the USA and the English speaking world. There is also a very famous clip on the internet when a female fan lifts up a sign saying "Elvis is King" and he stopped the music and told her that Jesus is King." Elvis was also known to invite entertainers over to his suite and that included the Beatles and made them sing gospel songs all night. I know that Elvis did not always live a godly life, he had drugs and booze around him with a lot of young beautiful women, and I am sure he enjoyed himself. I have a feeling that at the end of his life Elvis was very lonely man, he was a prisoner in his home , couldn't go out to a mall without starting a riot, and he was surrounded by "hanger ons". David my dad who was born the same year as Elvis and died 18 months later on the toilet from a heart attack, so this is not an uncommon event.

Off topic, but my mother had a tiny Roman coin her brother dug up when he lived in Italy. She always kept it in her purse. Once she was on a long plane flight and the steward entertained the passengers with a seated scavenger hunt from their purses and carry-ons. She won with the oldest coin.

I recall Elvis replied in an interview that he did not consider himself "a king", that he was just "an entertainer - that's all". Elvis knew the Gospel quite well because Gospel music was his favorite genre of music and he knew the lyrics (at the very least, Elvis knew Who Jesus was and still is - His Savior - although he may not have lived his life in proper obedience to Jesus - he appeared to have been aware that he was blessed by God in a special way - that his fame and fortune was not "man-made" but came from above). Apparently, a paperback book about the burial cloth of Jesus was found where he passed away - so he may have been reading about the Shroud of Turin at the moment of his death. His attitude, his character, his humility, his generosity, his amazing talent and charisma - when you think of Elvis - you have to think that (although he was troubled in many ways) - he was a colossal figure that shook the world and we can only hope and pray that he will be found written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Only God knows.

These videos are always very meaningful to me, I think about the Star Trek one very frequently! Btw the heretic Arius also died on a toilet, or rather a latrine, during his parade while returning after the Council of Nicea. The historical account is quite graphic, lots of blood and prolapse and even falling into the latrine, after the minister Alexander prayed that God would not allow Arius to return with his heresy. It's a gross yet amazing snapshot in history

Don’t use the word “steal” when referring to Elvis. He was an original and created his own style. The only Artist to be inducted into 5 different Music Halls of Fame. He’s been more immitated than any other Artist in history and influenced more Musical Artists than any other in history. People stole from him! He truly is the King of Music.

Some charismatic Churches say that that text indicates that you are supposed to pay your taxes but also pay the Church. But your interpretation is spot on. Your life belongs to your Creator. And it is only natural that you should give your life to Him.

It's sad that people think that when you commit your life to Christ, all the fun ends and you can't enjoy life.
That passage of the Bible regarding paying taxes was the moment I committed to Jesus at age 10. It was 5th grade. We were studying the constitution. I was in a public school: half Jewish, half catholic, half Protestant; we all loved each other. But history, civics, social sciences is “my” gift of sorts, I was a prodigy in that. I knew the history of the wars of religion, and the holocaust. We studied the constitution which made the United States the first officially secular government - which eliminated the wars of religion. Then the priest said, “as Catholics we believe in separation of church and state. That was it for me. That was divine wisdom to me. Jesus’ statement proved his divinity to me right there. Nowadays, Catholics have abandoned that teaching, and have become muslims, in that they conflate religion and politics, so I am now a recovering Catholic. Now some fundamentalist will say, but he was only talking about paying taxes: a very narrow view of the episode. It doesn’t square with what Jesus said elsewhere about other things. In particular the Prodigal Son parable. That parable explains, simply, the purpose of the gift of free will: God wants us to find our way to him via our own volition. It’s so important that Jesus died for that (another story). We must be free to seek our own truth, and in finding a truth, as St. Augustine said, we find God. So each of us have a different prodigal journey to make. And in it is important and advances us in that journey if we are in a secular governance. So there you have it, Jesus, unlike Mohammed, advocates for separation of state. If you disagree with this, you are saying to me, that, well, while Jesus knew a lot about religion, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to civics. I’m sorry for you - because what Jesus has to say about civics is very deep, very complex, unfortunately scattered about the gospels, and thousands of years ahead of its time - but despite being scattered around the gospels, there is a coherent, cohesive system of civics described in the Gospels. Remember Jesus said, he came to give us life, life lived to the ful, (John 10:10). It therefore is not a coincidence that the civilization spawned from the teachings of a 1st century Jewish carpenter was the first to land a man on the moon.
Now one surprising affect that early revelation had on me was: I never understood Paul’s statement: “if Jesus had not risen from the dead our faith is in vain” (well I’m still a little misunderstanding of that) because to me Jesus was God and proved he was God when he said “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s - that was irrefutable divine wisdom in my mind, so it kind was, for me, that I already found him divine whether or not he rose from teh dead - his teaching was all that inspired.

As an older Millenial (young Gen X) who only recently entered my 40's, knowing how many orders of magnitude more successful Elvis Presley was at the same age is every bit as sobering as the fact he essentially died of a statistically age appropriate at the time heart attack brought on in no small part by constipation.
